Used to be my grandma's pecan pie. Now that she's gone, Edward's pecan pie. I can't help but wonder if she didn't use Edward's and just said it was her own.
I’m a fan of this one too. I like how Mathew had his input on this but the Russell’s managed it all. After all Their reputation was on the line. Cheers Bill 🥃
Love this whiskey. Great tasting notes and video. An actual whiskey endorsed by celebrity who actual makes and enjoys great whiskey. So proud to have a fellow Texan make such great whiskey with Jimmy and Eddie.
I really liked this Bourbon as well. Some people who are cask-strength maniacs may find it too "easy sipping" but I think the mesquite gives it a very unique character.
Thank you for this review. I saw this today at a local liquor store at $37 i wasn't sure at first but I think I will definitely get a bottle. I personally enjoy the smoothness of Wild Turkey 101 and on the Holidays the spiciness of Wild Turkey Rare Breed
Yeah, as a teenager saw Metallica in Moscow back in 1991 (had to skip school for two days to see the gig) I can't wait Blackened whiskey to be sold in Russia ! And yes, Any wild turkey product would fit thanksgiving perfectly!)
This review sold me on Wild Turkey Longbranch Bourbon. I'm going to pickup a bottle for TG after dinner sipping, plus I like the looks of the bottle. Thanks
@@TheWhiskeyDictionary - My favorite food for TG is Rutabaga, and dessert is Tiramisu. I bought a bottle and I really like Wild Turkey Longbranch Bourbon! I might hide this bottle and break out the Wild Turkey 101 for TG. I don't like to offer half bottles or less to guest, I've been enjoying this bottle a little too much! Thanks again!
Lover of all things Wild Turkey here - and this one didn't disappoint. Slightly different to the other big hitters, but it still did the job for me. Very enjoyable pour and a great review!
Just opened my first Longbranch tonight and I REALLY like it. Almost embarrassed to say this, but this is my first Wild Turkey product. Spicy sweet upfront with a soft finish with lasting caramel. Just a little smoke and char in the background. I like my bourbon and whiskey under 100 proof and I sip Irish whiskey more than anything else. Picked this up on sale for $29.99. I will be sipping Longbranch while I'm grilling this weekend. Your channel and Mash & Drum are my two favorites! Great job as always!
To me i get almost an irish whiskey nose with a rye and leather note thrown in. I really the warm caramel apple note too. On tasting, it definitely has that rye note all the way thru. Its smooth and doesnt hold that 43 too hard. Its really light on that bourbon taste. Its sweet and very inviting.
Great review Bill! I’m glad I’m not the only one who likes this ( thats what it seems where i live ). I loved the back story and i think it’s a great sipping whiskey. I stock it now even though I have to drive out of my way for it.
You nailed the concerns 1 40 bucks or close to it and there are so many great options at 35 to 40. 2 the low proof point so this is considerably watered down I wish it was 94 proof. But you know what WT makes quality whiskey so I think I am gonna give it a try due to the unique smokey quality from the mesquite charcoal.
@@TheWhiskeyDictionary i found it quite complex and so well balanced. I have been drinking alot of high proof stuff and maybe it just appealed to me that it was so approachable but didn't sacrifice anything. Was amazed how long the finish was as well.
BOURBON CRANBERRY SAUCE 1 12-oz bag fresh cranberries 2 cup sugar 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon 1/8 tsp vanilla extract 1/4 cup bourbon Preheat oven to 325°F. Combine cranberries, sugar, cinnamon and vanilla in a baking dish. Cover tightly with foil and bake until cranberries are tender and sugar is dissolved, stirring once. Cooking time will vary depending on baking dish but should be about 1 hour. Remove from oven and stir in bourbon. Refrigerate cranberry sauce until well chilled and sauce has thickened. Transfer to bowl and serve.
all your points at the beginning are exactly why i havent tried it yet but ive had it in my hands many times. ill grab rare breed at the very least as a price point. rare breed way underrated. but hey you didnt mention any smokyness on the taste. but i think you sold me on the peach. was there some mesquite anywhere? finish?
i saw that too. i just dont like their style of reviews compared to yours. i thought maybe you had a different list. maybe i can ask if i make one of your streams. thanks bill!
Might I recommend drinking this with coke (I know $40 for a mixer is kinda pricey), but I have made that drink for 3 people who weren't whiskey drinkers and all 3 said it was excellent (and it's their standing order when they come over). Also, it is on sale often, (usually for $30-35), so there is that. Definitely with you on the stock it recommendation.
Don't know why there's so much scepticism about this offering from WT- is there anything they do that's not awesome??? I tried it and loved it- and a friend house sitting for me drank my whole bottle! It's basically a slightly mellowed and smoked Wild Turkey, since they only use one mashbill for all their bourbons. Enjoy!
A Matthew McConaughey Car Commercial: "The road ..." "Trees ..." "Life..." "Water ..." "Perceptions of emotion ..." "Breathing air..." lol the guy literally never says anything in his commercials. But the whisky ones are different. =)
Also... Unlike the other celebrity sponsored liquors- they don't claim that it's their "favorite on the planet" like Mchaunehay does. For what it's worth.
Here in Australia Longbranch is 40% ABV, and I can’t get myself to buy into the story about flavor that’s been watered-down for the sake of profit alone.
The Whiskey Dic Yes correct. However the extra tax would only result in a small increase in total shelf price. WT would rather get more sales with the current slightly lower price. I would happily pay the price at full ABV as I do for WT 101, Rare Breed and the Russell’s products. WT has diluted the Longbranch to make it attractive to a broader (and younger) market - and supported by actor featured marketing. It’s about profits.... which is fine. But a pity I need to order the proper 43% version online at multiples of it’s cost here just to try it.
I deleted my original comment. It did sound odd. I just comment about random things like that under every video I see. When I see people that look like other people I comment about it. The guy would be 13 or 14 years older now anyway and look nothing like how he did. I started laughing when you replied to my comment because it was a bizarre comment. In any case, I subbed. Take care.
@@TheWhiskeyDictionary Amen to that. I actually kind of look like you and that is how I connected your looks to that guy because someone mentioned I looked like him. LOL
@@TheWhiskeyDictionary And yea, I never actually "quit" drinking I suppose. It's more like I just haven't drank since I turned forty. Just felt like being a weekend warrior was getting to be a bit much. Never touched a drop thru the week tho. I never tried bourbon in all my years of drinking and it's been on my bucket list for a long time. I bought a bottle of ECSB the other day and plan on cracking in this winter on an especially cold night.
It's funny how different people's tastes can be. I'll never buy this again. To me, It's too watered down and in no way worth $15 - $20 more than regular 101. I do agree that it could be good for new or non Bourbon drinkers. We all like what we like and thank God we have so many choices. Cheers.
Yup, for me I had to mentally get past prive per ABV being my personal value calculator. It has a unique taste and for me to value a whiskey I like it to do something new :)
I usually try to stay away from "celebrity" whiskeys because it seems a lot of these guys/gals are just lending their names to someone trying to make a buck from them. Plus, as if these people need even more money, these whiskeys are almost always overpriced and/or use some kind of gimmick to justify why you should spend even more money.....Three Chord Whiskeys (playing music/sound waves to generate more agitation in the barrel to allow more liquid to contact the barrel staves) with Mr. Pat Benatar (Neil Girardo) being one of the principals, allegedly. PLUS...the Three Chord I tried was simply repackaged MGP juice. I took a chance on the Longbranch cuz I read how the Russell boys are very particular about bourbon and didn't seem to be the kind of guys to "sellout" to some movie star. I have to say, I really enjoy this bourbon...which kind of ticks me off cuz I'm contributing to the coffers of a mega-rich movie star. But it is very smooth, very good tasting....I hate myself.
It’s 40%abv in Australia, and very lacking here as a result of being diluted from the genuine article there in the US at 43% As usual here, it is ascribed the accolades given the US version when in fact it’s an inferior product with that dilution of flavour.
Love the whiskey and happy that they kicked Matthew to the curb. I stopped buying Wild Turkey products after Matthew’s BS anti-gun rant. Life is good again.
@@TheWhiskeyDictionary last year, after a shooting. And yes, no surprise but if you’re a spokesman for a brand you should keep your opinions to yourself.
