What A View. Cant wait to go back in the Fall.
Rt 33 is an amazing road cutting through the Park.
The Horse Trails are extensive and leave right from the specialized campground.
The Family campground it way up on top of the hill.
Head down to the Kikapoo river and rent a Canoe or Kayak in Ontario WI.
Great walk in campsites available. And some good hiking for us humans as well.
Did I mention the VIEW?

I have lived in this area growing up, my family has big history with Wildcat Mountain...but I never realized there was so much to DO around it, or that there was horse camping (we never camped-just went park for day picnics which was great). Wow you have opened my eyes!! Thank you so much!!! :-) :-) :-) Most especially I appreciate your DETAILS b/c now I know ahead of time how much my aging parent could join us in too. And maybe my horse loving friends (travel with carts) could join me there now as well! Wonderful video. Just incredible. I'll have to watch it again now.

p.s. Your storm time lapse was super cool. I am a storm watcher too. I'll open the garage door and watch the rain roll in, and then all the drops fall too. :-)

Planning a camp trip with out horses, and this is so helpful to get a view of the horse camping area! Really hard to determine which camps accomodate the big horse rigs. Thank you so much!!! What a beautiful park!!!

I was just at Wildcat Mountain for a quick day trip. The state park map I received at the visitor’s center indicated that people could also hike the horse trails.

Ill try and do Governor Dodge sometime soon, but knowing they will be adding better ones than they currently have it may not be worth it.

Hi Sconny, my wife and I watched all your videos. We just got a new puppy so want keep our first trip with him around 2-3 hours from the Illinois/Wisconsin border. We camp in a van and do not need electric. We are looking for scenic hikes and private sites where you don't stare at your neighbors. Any recommendations?

I should note what hikes are dog friendly. I am always amazed at how many dogs are on the cliffs at Devils Lake. But I don't recommend the main Trails after seeing so many of them struggling up and down rocks. Lots of good hiking right off the camping in Pinewoods in the Kettle Moraine southern unit. Book into the southern part of the campground. You can also make short drives to other trailheads in the area.

getting walked in upon as a single older woman camping with a small tent by the female camp host who should know better. People use their car to change clothes, or sit in the back after many rainy days. Yet they leave the firepit full of a dozen eggshells and butt wipes.
