What a well thought out fishing kayak. Love that center console and stand assist strap. I paddled a Ride 115 a couple years ago and didn't really care for it. Good work on the upgrades!
10 years later and I just one from a dude on Craigslist who really took care of it. Slowly working on getting a rudder and rudder control foot pedals mounted. And then eventually a trailer to haul it with, as it's a little too heavy for me to dead lift onto my roof racks.
Just went looking at Eastern Mtn. Sports and almost purchased the 11.5 Ride. Decided to Wait until I got back on my computer and check out more info/videos. Unexpectedly saw the new 11.5X with the extra features including the stand up assist strap and console which is something I could really use. So, glad I waited. Now I need to wait for it to show up in the store.
What are your thoughts on the seat? I'm debating the High Seat vs. Low Seat option. I understand the high seat can give you extra storage directly under it. Also lets you stand easier. But I was worried it would make the already pokey Ride 115x even slower. By impeding proper paddling and sitting higher catching the wind more. Is that a factor to consider or is one option simply better?
I noticed that there are three indentations along the outside of the kayak near the aft gear well, there are screws in these indentations as well. What are they for?
