if you go for pike specifically, i think you should include good jaw spreaders with a bit longer pliers just incase you get a big one. i tend to bring multiple smaller boxes for ease of storing. one small box for jig heads and weights that can fit in my vest, one tiny binder of hooks i might need also fit in my vest. then just hard baits i want to fish with in a small plastic tray. the tools are in a very small fanny pack pouch. if i'm fishing from canoe i have some stuff on my vest. if i'm fishing from shore then i just move those things into the fanny pouch. it keeps the system super compact. i also usually bring 2 x 4 piece rods that fit into one case that is less than 50cm, one ML rod and one MH rod.

There is actually some pike in Algonquin. Booth lake wife caught about 32” while geared up for trout

interesting! I was told my whole life there's no pike and I never bothered to find out for myself! Cheers,

Keeping it simple. It’s easy to over prepare in this area but pliers should be a tackle box staple.

Not that I’m an expert or anything but all of those contents can go in a granite seat pouch under the canoe seat then you can portage all of it under the seat

I’ve just found your channel and I’m grateful for you and your shameless plugs to sharing your faith in Christ Jesus. We do a back packing canoe trip each year here in Maine and this will be my first year bringing my 9 year old son (along with a bunch of his cousins and friends). There’s 8 adults and 10 kiddos going from 9-16 years old. 34 miles, two half days of paddling, just shy of 2 miles of portage and 4 nights of iron sharpening around the campsites and camp fires. God Bless. Stay free and stay prepped.
