Following the success in 2015 of the Wildlife Pond, I've filmed an update in 2016 showing its development and some cosmetic alterations so that its sits easier in its meadow surroundings . The garden never stays the same and further developments are sure to continue over the coming years.

I have come across this video once again while meandering around RU-vid and I wondered how Janice and Frank's pond was going now? Has it now got frogs and little tadpoles? I really wish everyone did this to their gardens imagine the positive effects this would have on the wildlife and also on people.

Oh dear the pond is being spoilt unfortunately, any decent pond needs a certain amount of shade. This pond has virtually none & it clearly needs better filtration as well. Full marks for making the pond but now it's a case of what does this pond need not what are your needs, their is a big difference between the two..!

I've read that it's best to use rainwater to fill a pond, although it takes a lot longer! Tap water has chlorine obviously, and nitrogen fertilizer from farms. I don't think you can say it needs some shade though. Surely ponds have always existed for millions of years before man arrived? Frogs etc. took advantage of ponds formed where old trees fell over and the roots left a big hole. These may have been in sunny spots, shady spots, or semi-shaded spots. I'm sure wildlife can thrive in any habitat as it has done for millennia.

Some more dead wood in the pond and garden will increase habitat for more creatures.

Id have preferred it if Janice & Frank had left more growth around their lovely pond, as frogs, etc prefer to keep hidden to avoid blackbirds. Still a fantastic wildlife garden though! Well done! 👍🍾😀

I love your pond and the flowers, great job!, you should add a small water fall, if you dont have any electric you can get a small pump that runs on a solar panel. the sound of the water will put you to sleep. nice job.

Such a beautiful garden! Lovely to see the plantings of wildflowers and trees dancing in the breezes. You've given me some ideas about maybe a little pond or water feature of some kind in my small garden. Thank you for the update.
