Your manner of playing makes me think of my father, he was a highly skilled guitar player, he had a D - 35 Martin, he played it so well it would stop people in their tracks,am almost in tears,WELL DONE,you have a happy camper here in Avon Park FL !!
This is the plain and simple Wildwood Flower like it should be played! I've listened to a dozen versions from the pros and much prefer your version. Thank you for sharing it!
My dad learned this song first on the guitar and even though it wasnt the first song I learned to play it's the song that got me into playing, I wanted so badly to learn how to play it and I just learned the melody yesterday, easily my favorite song to play
Wow that sounds awesome one of the best renditions of Wildwood Flower . A great guitar player and nice sounding guitar . What guitar is making that beautiful sound a Martin or Gibson. My beloved Dad played a Gibson a beautiful sounding guitar bought it with his first paycheck . Dad passed away at ninety five and his Gibson guitar looked just like new and played it for many years nice sounding guitar he paid $150.00 for it and my son has a beautiful Takamine guitar in turquoise the sound is great and he bought it with his first pay check and he is now 52yrs. Old and it is just like new . My son learned how to play the guitar at a young age from his Grampa he started out playing a guitar with the name Goya. Has anybody heard the name of it before us. Thank you utube for putting on this great musication.
First song I learned on the guitar was wild wood flower my brother in law tought me it about 55 years ago,he just passed away about to two weeks ago, this song always makes me think of him, Rest in peace Johnny, going to miss you pal

Oh, I'll twine with my mingles and waving black hair With the roses so red and the lilies so fair And the myrtle so bright with the emerald hue The pale and the leader and eyes look like blue. Oh I'll dance, I will sing and my (*laugh) shall be gay I will charm every heart, in his crown I will sway When I woke from my dreaming, my idol was clay All portion of love had all flown away. Oh he taught me to love him and promised to love And to cherish me over all others above How my heart is now wond'ring no mis'ry can tell He's left me no warning, no words of farewell. Oh, he taught me to love him and called me his (*flow'r) That was blooming to cheer him through life's dreary hour Oh, I long to see him and regret the dark hour He's gone and neglected this pale wildwood flow'r.
Very nice version, sir. No finger picks and no capo but at least I can see a way to play this while figuring out the "scratch." ~ the 1:00 mark I thought you were gonna launch into a "I Walk the Line" version of the tune !
Thank you for not playing it at s decent tempo! It is. Ballad and most guitar players on RU-vid seem to think it is some part of a speed contest. Very tasteful and respectful of the original. Thank you!
yeah, when I was young I tried and succeded picking along w. Joan Baez and Fred Hellarman. On A good day I can still keep up. Then I heard herself pick it, and that quiet steady slow rhythm I will never get together.
