00:00 Moment Musical No.1 in C major - Moderato 03:20 Moment Musical No.2 in A-flat major - Andantino 08:58 Moment Musical No.3 in F minor - Allegro moderato 10:36 Moment Musical No.4 in C-sharp minor - Moderato 14:43 Moment Musical No.5 in F minor - Allegro vivace 16:56 Moment Musical No.6 in A-flat major - Allegretto
The first piece is a clumsy little gnome stumbling around the garden daydreaming about nymphs. The second is a teenager sneaking out of his parents' house at night to wander empty streets. The third is Schubert dancing tipsy with his friends. The fourth is a dark, haunted wood with a few bright meadows. The fifth is a demon riding a headless horse. The sixth is Schubert alone in his room.
Such little gems for a moderate technique! My piano teacher said that they were easy to play but difficult to do justice to. I agree. Only a great muscian can give them the experience that comes with a lifetime of playing. And only then do they surpass notes on a page.
How silly, Wilhelm Backhaus was an immensely competent pianist. Its amazing how someone can be so backwards and completely fail at identifying fine musicianship.
Nope. It's one Moment Musical, two or more Moments Musicaux. It's French. No one (in any language) calls the piece Moments Musical. Why is this so controversial? Weird.
I, for one, thank you for uploading this lovely rendition! I don't have enough nerve to "reply" to "GoldinDr." because I'm too thin-skinned to bear any sarcastic response...but I want to tell you, tnsnamesoralong, that I agree with you. Even if you're "wrong" which someone will always find about ANYthing...you're RIGHT in the spirit of music. It just kills me that there are RU-vidrs who wait, not for another exquisite upload, but for the chance to criticize someone or another...all in
Dear Listener: I do not remember listening to this upload, let alone posting the lengthy snide remark. There is a mean person who is counterfeiting me, going about RU-vid, posting remarks attributable to "messrtwinky" but it is not I! I looked in RU-vid community talk to see what I can do about this, but read many, many posts about members who have tried by changing their user name, password, etc., but to no avail. I can only hope my impersonator gets bored before "messrtwinky" gets worse rep
Are there other composers who compose moment musicaux? There is Rachmaninoff .Let see the contemporary ones. There is also philip glass .He wrote six similar pieces .Four moments for two pianos .Two moments for four pianos.
Don't have to, because it's unidiomatic English and no musician calls it that. Not everything you find on the internet is reliable, you know. But you can call it whatever you wish; it's a free country.
I have realized that some of late Rachmaninoffs preludes were inspired by these very pieces by Schubert. Op. 32 no 10 was inspired by musical moment 2 by Schubert. The stylistic similarity is apparent if you just pay attention.
all in the hopes that someone out there will find them "smart." What low self-image these folks must have. And, what little respect and gratitude they have to those of you who upload, and those of us who just want to listen....to the music!! NOTICE that he/she simply has to let us know that they are a "Dr."!! Blah!
These pieces are profound. Frequently underrated and misunderstood. Listen to Schubert's lieder -- he had a deep understaing of "simple" things. Incredibly stupid comments in the chat.
What exactly did this person missunderstand about the advice "ppp" at no. 3? He plays at least mf. What a pity, I like his style and his technique, but the dynamic is a shame...
I like Backhaus, he is so laconic and always austere. There is no Schwammerl-Schubert in, it is beautiful and graded as a Bach Prelude from the WTC 2. Astonishing.
@@matthewperson4191 you know you can get the score of almost every piece written by a composer that died more than 70 years ago free on the site of imslp right?
Anyone else here because of Cheese in the Trap? Just me? Alright then. Disclaimer: I've actually heard this song before just didn't know what it was called. XD
