I got to test/review these humbuckers by Wilkinson from Musiclily. They're a nice bright sounding humbucker, but as you'll see in the video, if you plan on using overdrive or distortion, like any humbucker, you're better off just using the bridge.

Might put a video up on my channel if anyone is interested. EDIT it actually does come with some hardware, the knobs and maybe the input jack.

Nice review man. I recently repaired a lawsuit Ibanez for a guy. I had bought a set of these in case I couldn't get his pickups to work. Long story short, I got his stock pups working and I now have a set of these lying around. I didn't know how good they would be. I'm thinking about dropping them into a Korean Les Paul I've got just to see if I like them.

@@Guitarnivore thank you. I'll take that into consideration. My Korean Les Paul is VERY well built and set up. I'm just not crazy about the neck pup. The bridge pup is fantastic. It's either been replaced or someone took the cover off. It almost sounds like a jb. I may leave the bridge pup alone, and install the neck. Lol thanks again for giving me something to think about.

These aren't the same pickups as what's in the V100. That uses the Korean-made Wilkinson WVC humbuckers. They're a completely different build with nickel-silver baseplate & nickel-silver covers. The neck measures right at 7k and the bridge a hair over 8k. I just put a set in my Epi Lazarus, and not surprisingly, it sounds just like my V100PGM.

@Ric Mel something tells me that the Fleor and Wilkinson Alinico 5s may actually be from the same supplier as they look and sound pretty identical. So my guess is they're the same, just a different reseller as I'm pretty certain both companies don't actually make the pickups, they just buy them from a factory in China. I've heard the owner from Wilkinson say he's visited the place in China that makes his and says they're a top notch manufacturer. Regardless, both companies have a very good reputation

Adding wires increases resistance. It does not reduce it.
@Guitarnivore
@Guitarnivore 5 месяцев назад

@BassHappy64
@BassHappy64 5 месяцев назад
You're welcome. To understand this look at the pickup construction. Hotter pickups read higher DC resistance because they have more winds of wire in their coils. The lower resistance cooler pickups have less winds of wire & read lower resistance. Adding lengths of wire increases DC resistance. Additionally, connections of wire such as your alligator clips, will also increase DC resistance as there will be slight losses of continuity in these types of connections.

These are the Chinese manufacturing origin Wilkinsons, that's what the "M Series" label denotes. I recognised it the moment you took them out by the baseplate colour. Pretty sure these are Ceramic from the annotation and tone. Korean Wilkinsons have a nickel silver baseplate with the Wilkinson logo stamped into it, come in a number of 'flavours', Ceramic, Alnico II and Alnico V both classic PAF or hot, and are about twice the price.

I appreciate your input. These guitars are short scale and have issues with the bridge/saddles and intonation. If I fret an E chord too hard with this guitar it throws it out of tune. It's a shame because it's a fun guitar to play rock on.
