I was disappointed in Hargrave’s performance last season..not that it’s gonna make a difference to anybody in the organization…I though sure as hell, he was gonna come in, be a difference maker, helping take the focus off Bosa…Chase Young fit Randy Cross’ analogy of ‘superstars’ in ‘he looks good getting off the bus’…he was useless…

They overpaid for a guy that, whose success in PHI came from a lot of 5 Man Fronts. What’d the Niners do? Wide 9 with little variation and that falls on Wilks bc he was in charge of those calls on the Line as well. And as we saw, he never quite synced what he had called up front for what he called on the backend

I think the D Line is going to be better. I'm excited by the additions of Floyd, Collins, and Elliott. The young guys have potential as well.

Unfortunately, none of the new defensive linemen are even ranked close to average against the run last year. David Lombard showed a graph of DL grades of run vs pass and the new acquisitions you speak of were in the far lower left quadrant (low pass and run). If DL coach can bring them up and new coaches improve the schemes, and these guys play with their hair on fire all the time, it might improve. We can hope.

@@donkloos9078Yetur & Jordan Elliot were solid against the run. Maliek Collins is more of a pass rusher. Plus the addition of Leonard Floyd. The personnel is there.

Im super excited about new blood on Dline! Floyd, Matos, Elliott, Collins an Anderson!! DBs are better too should help assist Dline well with better coverage. Cant wait for this season to start!!

Armsted did alright for himself. The players remember this is a business. It also spoke to the increase in deals requested.

I'd be very relieved if the D line was better this year. I thought they might have done more drafting for the O and the D lines. Otherwise everything looks great to me. Many exciting new prospects on the squad.

None of the new DLs are even average against the run. It looks like they're trying to do a Moneyball approach hoping to construct a NT in the aggregate that can plug up the run. I think this will still be a problem in 2024 unless the poor schemes of the last DC are replaced and upgraded.

Do we have better: - D Coordinators, schemes and strategies that are not predictable! - Man on man coverage? - Run D? - this includes special teams as we have up huge chunks of yardage

I really feel this defense is going to continue its regression. Fred has quietly lost a step or two. The other LB spots are huge question marks. Do we have a FS? I do like our CB’s and depth at DE. But those positions won’t flourish if the Dline and LB’s aren’t great on 1st and 2nd down.
