The monster in Nova Scotia was not a licensed gun owner, used illegal firearms, possessed an illegal RCMP uniform, and modified a surplus cruiser to look like an RCMP vehicle-which is also illegal. He then burned 9 people and their pets to death in their homes. Mr Trudeau's gun grab will not prevent a madmen like him from doing something like that in future. PS Justin's personal protection detail, the RCMP, are allowed to use military issue C8 "assault rifles" with 30 round magazines, and capable of full auto. What war do they plan on fighting? I guess there are two sets of standards for this regime?

This is going to cost Canadians a lot more than what the government is telling.

i myself have had guns since i was 5yrs old never had any problem. I like many had a very good teacher which was my father who was a vet of ww2 he was fighting against the same type of people that are running the country right now, he told me many many years ago when the govt takes your firearms away for no just reason at that time you are in for a dictatorship or communist govt and at that point get the hell out of dodge . i never really thought it would happen but then again look at the pm;s father while my dad like many were fighting the Nazi;s justins dad was driving around Montreal in a German uniform on a German made BMW motorcycle it is very sickening to see how one person has destroyed an entire country in such a short time but he hides in his house for only one reason he is nothing more then a coward just like his father was

Why won't the authorities identify the firearms used other than the one he took from a victim? What is the government hiding?

So what if someone used tactics similar to the DC Sniper back in 2002? Used let's say, a pickup truck with a covered box as a mobile platform, and installed a slit to sight though and used a bolt action rifle of high accuracy to randomly shoot people up to half a mile away. How much carnage could someone inflict if they did something like that? We know the damage the DC Sniper did. What would be the appropriate response? Should we then ban all bolt action rifles? The point is this: if people want to be violent, they will find ways to be violent. Banning the tools people use for violence will never stop the violence.

This was wasn't a failure of legislation to protect people. It was a failure of the government to protect the population,or encourage and allow them to protect themselves. 12- hours uninhibited by anyone. He could have done this with a musket, crossbow, or even a hammer.

As Canadians do we not have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I fear for my life, our liberty is disappearing and I cant be happy without my guns.

The only thing that would have stopped this bad guy from killing so many people. Is a good guy with a gun. When seconds count the police are minutes away. In my case and a lot of other Canadians, the police won’t be at my house to protect my family for at least 30mins. I can not and will not count on anyone else to protect my loved ones!

If the shooter went to the meticulous effort and extent of obtaining and disguising a replica police cruiser as well as masquerading as a police officer in uniform, I truly don’t think it is an unrealistic stretch to arrive at the conclusion that he would illegally obtain firearms or any other means to carry out his objective. Nor do I think any restriction of the law on whatever - take your pick - would have stopped him from his intent. When a criminal is motivated no law is going to stop them. How about we institute initiatives such as addressing violence like Mr. Giltaca mentions? How about we improve and boost mental health programs, or create solutions to allow ex convicts to reintegrate back into society and contribute to an honest living instead of relapsing back into a criminal lifestyle as is usually the case? How about we instill a sense of pride back into hard work, positive work ethic, and a good attitude that motivates our youth to maximize their potential instead of attraction towards a gang lifestyle? How about we work together to have open and productive discussion to improve our society instead of creating division? The options are as limitless as your imagination. Whether or not a gun ban will stop violence is irrelevant. If you're gonna live in a country with freedoms, you use your judicial system to punish the ones that murder others, while the rest of the people that did nothing wrong, continue enjoying the freedom to own guns. You shouldn't be trading freedoms and liberties for crime prevention, because if you go down that road, you'll end up living in a police state with no freedoms.

Just think of people who have nothing to do with guns, Gun rules dont bother them they do not intend to own or have them, now lets talk about people with guns like me, I do what I can to prevent any type of accident or theft, there in a locked up 6 pin fireproof safe, now I used to hunt many years ago now there just for pleasure use at the range. The bottom line is mental health, that is our front line of defence against violence not the police, NOT political knee jerk policy, if mental health issues were better attended too from early childhood detection through adulthood these aggresive violent outbreaks would be self managed and detected better so our health system is not supporting mental health issues enough.

Every time the issue of gun violence comes up everyone focuses on the gun, they do not focus on the person behind the gun, they do not push for sweeping and radical changes towards the motives behind the violence. The gun violence in Toronto for instance did they do anything to stop gang recruitment, push more resources to local and federal gang units, crack down on smuggling or strengthen law surrounds assault with weapons? hardly any outcry or action to the specific issue I did not see any public service announcements, no inner city school initiatives or resource officers/ social workers identifying at risk youth, no increased harassment on gang members the laws against organized crime did not get bolstered sufficiently. Guns get targeted because it is a symbol it is easy PR to look like they are doing something without the need to do anything effectual. This is why it has always been regulatory increments it a convenient topic to whip out during a scandle or whenever they need to look good or like they are doing something about a social issue.

I am not a Canadian! I am in America and this sounds just like Canada became U.S.A. I have always thought about problems with people that are having mental issues that do these mass shootings. I say that due too the facts in the U.S.A. back in the mid sixties early seventies hospitals that were for the mentally ill were pretty much closed. So after that these people were supposed to be under a doctor's care for the mental problems that they had. These patients were on medications and they were suppose to take their medication on their own. THIS IS THE PROBLEM THESE PEOPLE NEED TOO BE IN A MENTAL HEALTH HOSPITAL AND THEIR MEDS GIVEN TO THEM EVERYDAY AS OFTEN AS NEEDED. I KNOW THESE PEOPLE PROBABLY CANNOT BE SELF MEDICATED AND TRUSTED TO DO SO. NOW YOU ADD THE PERSON THAT HAS NOT EVEN SEEN A PSYCHIATRIC DOCTOR OR HAS NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED AS HAVING MENTAL ISSUES. I do not know how Canada operates their mental problems in their population. Canada knows what is going on in America about our guns as well.
