Thank you so much for this video, I'm a millennial, and starting in cybersecurity is to me as intriguing as it is fearful. Watching your videos definitely gives me the courage that I can do this. Thank you for showing me that way and not gate keeping anything.
I thought the same thing about Ai’s effect on Cyber security. The acceleration of tech will make security in any facet one of the biggest liabilities for companies, governments and ngos. Perhaps cyber security will become one of the main staples of tech jobs in the future.
@@UnixGuy zero day events in particular ai will never be able to compensate for since it can only work with what it has in its previous data and what it’s been programmed to do.
@@dad5410Think of cyber security this way, the job is required to constantly update anti-viruses, which are basically ai that're able to combat malware. So in conclusion ai can never replace cyber security because the system constantly needs to be updated as you said.
I started to learn Cybersecurity recently just because I think it is a fairly AI proof job. I don't think people would ever trust AI with their security, both physical and cyber. Also , in case AI will go rogue and starts hacking us , who is going to counter it?
@@UnixGuybecause you can be damn sure that the black hats are already deploying chatgpt for nefarious to purposes and it will only increase as AI improve
When the internet became popular people said that many jobs would be replaced and automated. What happened in reality was that more high paying jobs in technology was created. I believe AI will also create greater demand for better paying tech jobs. Someone needs to manage these systems.
Such an interesting video! I share many opinions with you sir, I personally use chat gpt-3 and 4 a lot. Helping me through my studies , since I've always loved the idea of being able to ask almost anything to a database with quick responses 🙌
This was a question I’ve been meaning to ask and thanks to your video it naturally popped up in Q for me to watch. Perfect. Thanks for your expert advice and research!
Thanks for this video. I saw the title of another video elsewhere that 'A.I is more of a threat to humanity than global warming'. I skipped it. Thanks for giving a very sensible approach and well researched view to the topic
Good points but its clear that AI will kill entry-level jobs for cybersecurity. Only experienced professionals who know how to use AI and have strong communication skills will remain. It will be a lot harder for inexperienced people to find jobs (already very hard). Also, I disagree with your point about increasing cyber attacks due to AI would mean more jobs as AI could also be used for defense and analysis against them, reducing the work an individual has to do. The future of the job market as a whole looks very concerning.
interesting points, we gonna have to wait and see. I do not believe it will kill all cyber entry level jobs and i dont believe is going to be sufficient in defense, but let’s wait and see.
@@UnixGuy Yeah. This is just my opinion but it could also be the way you described. Would you mind telling me why you think cybersecurity entry-level jobs wouldn't be affected?
@@hf2943 from what I see from vendors, they’re not exactly good at developing products so I don’t have high hopes that they will intrgrate AI properly. Businesses are chaotic and there is a lot more that goes on than just pushing buttons on a firewall. I could be wrong though :)
What are the best departments in terms of the future and that demand will increase after 5 years from now, in your opinion? 1 AI and ML 2 data science 3 Computational Linguistics 4 Virtual and Augmented Reality 5 Cyber Security 6 Develop programs and applications
Thanks for the videos Unix! What do you think about new roles in AI such AI security analyst/engineer? I believe AI and ML will create new jobs for those with cyber security expertise.
Creative jobs are unlikely to be effective by AI in the near future because creativity along with emotions are the things that ai lacks also, no thing made by ai can be copyrighted so no one can use it under their name. Any art need to have its copyright if yiu want to earn profit from it. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Hi Unixguy, Just for another insights, how about GRC replaced by AI ? You didn't mention about non technical field such as GRC in the video.. You mentioned about nord locker that can facilitate legal compliance. It is a general / early example of AI helping / replacing GRC professional. 🙏
hey mate, GRC is considered part of cyber security, so it’s included by what I talked about here. In fact, GRC wont be replaced because ita highly reliant on humans!
Very thorough and insightful approach to such a controversial topic. Keep up the good work UnixGuy! I also wanted to ask, if I were to pursue a cyber security career, what major would be appropriate for me to take during university? Perhaps Computer Science? or what do you recommend? Thanks UnixGuy!
I would choose a degree in cyber security. I talked about it here: Computer Science vs Cyber Security, Which is right for you ? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ys-_xQHaYAc.html
It comes down to people. Always. Ai is just another tool. Computers replaced rooms of people tabulating and yet here we are today. Be the person who knows how to use the tools to help people.
Thank you so much for the information and for helping me remove my fear as i have just joined into a university for my ug in cybersecurity and by the way can you please suggest me some good laptops for learning cybersecurity please
In todays era if world war happens then countries will mostly use cyberattacks and also if u make anything related to AI offcourse u will need something to protect it from hackers so cybersecurity will never end it will increase more jobs. If AI/Tech will increase then cybersecurity will also increase.
Hi UnixGuy. Saw lots of negative comments on a SOC analyst job - boring, routine, shift hours. What are some positive aspects on a SOC analyst job ? And what is the career path within a SOC. Thank you.

I appreciate you content, always keeping it up with good insights. Did you see that Microsoft is launching it's own certificate just like google on coursera? it is named: 'Microsoft Cybersecurity Analyst Professional Certificate'. It'll be really nice if you can give us your thoughts and also compare both. You're great man!
While AI can automate certain tasks, the need for human judgment and expertise in cybersecurity remains crucial. AI can certainly be a tool to aid cybersecurity professionals, but it's unlikely to replace them entirely. I feel the same way about most professions. AI will not replace ALL lawyers but it will replace the lawyers who fail to enhance their productivity using AI.🤖
That's what I thought, if any schmuck can make malware, and AI can't be trusted 100% with relevant and private information, there should be a higher need for cyber security personnel. Cyber security could become something common for a few years
Hey brother, I’m 23 and I’m fairly comfortable on the computer. I didn’t go to college and became a sheriffs deputy working at the local jail almost straight out of high school. I left that job about two years ago. I’m a bit intimidated by this field because I have 0 knowledge of coding etc. My wife is in the military and we move a lot. If I really pursue this field, will the fact that we move so frequently be a career killer? Or is this kind of work something I can do while being mobile. Thanks for your time!
hey mate, moving a lot will definitely have an impact, however it really depend on how frequent. Short term contracts are not unheard of and there is a possibility for remote or hybrid type arrangement. I understand being intimidated but you need to start somewhere. Watch this: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rIOvsj7jBuQ.html then this: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DRJic8vCodE.html it might be a good idea for you to try and land any IT or helpdesk or tech related role to gain more confidence
I'm new to cybersecurity but I was think I could use AI to make my job easier, have a greater level of redundancy and be more efficient for the company.
Unix Guy can I please ask some advice? I'm a stay at home dad starting in on Google Certs on Coursera and may do a few other courses with the immediate aim of getting my Comptia A+ Certification. I have no college degree, but have held serious positions with customer service experience and I do find myself to be a generally approachable and likeable person. My question for you is what should I put my time into as far as learning once I cover A+? is that enough foundational knowledge to start applying for IT jobs at places like hospitals and small schools or what else would get me there?
hey mate, I personally don’t recommend doing A+, your time is better spent somewhere else, I explained it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rIOvsj7jBuQ.html I recommend you follow this roadmap once you feel comfortable enough: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DRJic8vCodE.html and yes your customer service skills are a HUUGE asset so don’t give up!
@@UnixGuy I REALLY appreciate your response. you have so many videos! Definitely not giving up! I'll be back in these comments too. thank you for the help.
Amazing video Sir.....i am an Msc biotechnology graduate from India...is it possible for IT companies to shortlist my resume for entry level cybersecurity jobs if i get the necessary certificates and skills....or would they reject my resume as i have biotechnology degree??
i am planning for a career change through CISA exam and what should I learn alongwith my CISA Preparation in order to get the most of my new career and land a job as fast as possible
hello, sir im new to this channel i love how you explained everything. but my main question for you is im just starting college and cyber security has been my main focus in majoring career wise . Do you believe it will be worth becoming a cyber security professional ? due to AI i have also been told it may be taken over .
@@UnixGuy I agree but I just wanted to know in your opinion I'm only 18 years old recently graduated . I just wanted to know do you think its worth it I'm sorry to bother just wanted to know .
@@santiagooliva1213 for sure! my opinion is that cyber security wont be affected by AI, if anything there will be more demand, which I explained in the video :)
Hey bro thx for advise about Google Cybersecurity analyst course. I just finished it. Can you make any video about Cybersecurity analyst resume for entry level people
One thing AI will never be able to do is pay income tax. Individual income taxes accounted for more than half of total revenues for the federal government in 2022.
So yes, AI will replace many, especially around lower level, technical focused professionals, hence facilitates the need to improve poeple skills. Poeple that are good at thinking and communicating ideas are always at low percentage, which means most likely the competence bar will be raising, and relevant professionals are condensed. And no, AI will not replace all professionals, the locus of responsibility will always be human, which means no matter how great AI generated output seems, someone has to sign it off and take responsibility if it goes wrong. So finally, one should stop dreaming that one set of skill will ever be enough, diversifying skills is becoming paramount.
Someone wi tell that AI can make better security then it wrong, first of all if AI will make security then it will need cybersecurity experts and AI can misuse that so we need better cybersecurity experts.
Hi, I saw some of your videos and wanted to know that whether I can take a diploma course in cyber security after finishing the degree of Bvoc. Forensic science and microbiology?
@@UnixGuy Not anymore, I used to frequent there in 2010-ish, then took a break and later on discovered that they screwed up all the logins at some point, and when I tried to log in and get my old account back, and contacted the mods, still didn't get any response, so just switched to Reddit :)
@@xyema-mpa-ma-ma oh wow, what was your username? true they missed things up when they sold it but if you post there requesting recovery, we can get it back. there is still a few of us older timers around :)
I don't see AI as a potential threat. I am making my conclusions due to some prevailing factors. The main factor,is that AI will be a fad in the begining. After a series of very costly mistakes, the human will take over their jobs. AIs biggest problem will be trust on the part of People. And bias on the side of ai,which will lead to the costly mistakes,I mean costly.
I expect LLM-powered autonomous agents will be useful -- one could, for example, build a fake, honeypot employee who has terrible security practices. 😊 ... an "employee" that can even interact believably with malicious actors, and so forth. One can definitely imagine SOC operations becoming much more automated, and requiring significantly fewer employees -- both because people are simply replaced, and because AI tools will make people much more productive.
Devin ai : a ai software engineer has launched what if an similar ai is introduced for cybersecurity. I am a college student, is cybersecurity is a good carrier path in India ?
Im currently in my last 6 months of my associates in cyber security. But i want to be ready for a job after i graduate. Should i study a certification while im finishing school? Im thinking security plus.
Thank you for this video!! Also, I wanted to ask if I am applying for my co-op (Masters Degree) in CYbersecurity and Threat Intelligenc, what specific skills do HR want to look in my resume. Its been 2 months but no positive response yet.
Hey @UnixGuy, I’m 24 and I want to get into GRC. I just got my Masters in Cybersecurity last December and I’m getting started on certs. I want to get the Security+ to brush up on my knowledge and along with the Google Cyber cert before/while I start getting hands on experience and eventually CRISC/CISM/CISA. I honestly want to dive into CRISC right now and pass, then certify when I have the 3 years of experience!! I’m very aware of the cyberthreat landscape, but not so much hands-on experience or skills. Is that a good plan? I value your opinion so I’d love to know what you think!!
hey mate, yes the ISACa certs the way to go but - as you’re aware - no single cert can guarantee a job so you need to work on certs while activey trying to find a job :)
I think with the AI and its ability there will be far more Black Hats rising and demand for Blue TEAM / White hats will increase by many many folds. Another IMO dangerous thing if not the worst will be Black hats who are good in machine learning and AI development. Literally we are witnessing AI wars.
@@WYSbyAdamLash AGI is a hypothesis. We don't even know if it's possible to make at all. And it's not about if AI can do technical positions. It's that we will always need humans to manage AI systems because of security purposes, ethics, auditing, etc. Why have only AI when you can also add the human brain to it? It's not like black hat hackers will ONLY be using AI. No, they will also use their human critical thinking. If you go against a human and an AI and you only combat it with an AI, you will lose every time.
I've heard a lot of ai experts, people who are really right near the center of it all, assigning a relatively large % chance of full existential risk to hummanity from ai in the next couple decades. I'm no expert, but from what i've been seeing, I assign a large % myself to it taking over many tech jobs in the coming decade or two. That's if it doesn't outright kill us.
