I put one of these carbs on my cj5 with the same F head engine. Worked pretty well until a few days ago. Of course we're leaving to go camping with it tomorrow, that's just my luck. At least it failed at home and now in the mountains. I'm about to go out and spend the night rebuilding the old one. It wasn't that old, but we ran ethanol fuel in it and it's all gummed up. That amazon carb has a very weird float and needle valve set up that I believe is what's failing on mine.
@@rustsweatgears4596 I still have mine on there... I'm having problems with it getting too hot. I'm guessing it's because it's cheap pot metal. The Carter carb that was on there isn't very old, it's identical to the original. I put ethanol fuel in it and let it sit and it's plugged up. I'll rebuild it and put it back on. If we didn't go so far out in the mountains I wouldn't care so much, but towing out is more than what's possible unless you're Matt's recovery!
Two questions. I have a 1969 CJ5 with the Buick 6 cylinder. Can you post the name/part no. of the carburetor? My CJ5 is in gear. How can I get it in neutral?
this carb wont work on that engine. you can just search on amazon, or google for aftermarket carbs for the that dauntless v6. thats how i found mine for the 4cyl. as for being stuck in gear....if you cant just take it out and put it into neutral then you probably have internal issues. maybe bent or seized shift forks.
