Why are there those who are poor and those who are rich? Why do wicked men prosper and why are the just in need?' What happened to the greatest ascetics who secluded themselves like St Anthony, but presumably never partook in communion, never confessed, and never attended church services? How did they become so holy apart from the mysteries if the mysteries are our path to salvation?
@ClooneyThunder
@ClooneyThunder 15 часов назад
My understanding is that St. Anthony and other ascetics like St. Mary of Egypt that secluded themselves, lived in communion with God but they had a special calling. We all have a special calling if you think about it, it's not for everyone to be secluded. But they lived in communion under canonical instruction either from God directly or through their spiritual fathers order. I had the same question on how are you in communion if you are secluded? I now believe they are communion because it is consistent with the life and teaching of the church.

They were in direct communion with god. They did attend the divine liturgy and ate the bread and wine of Christ, there is no doubt in that. But they encounter god and satan in their purest forms due to the harshness of the desert. The monks, they have communion. It's a rule for them.
@NFS0038
@NFS0038 9 часов назад
@@barathkrishna2977 Saint Anthony definitely did not attend liturgy or have communion when he isolated himself for many years at a time. In that sense according to this video and presented views, he was not interacting with Christ in the Church. Don't misunderstand me thinking I or anyone like me is like Saint Anthony, we are not even close. But the fact remains it seems to be an exception, so the rule is not absolute, otherwise he would have been denying communion and therefore separate from God.

St Mary was directly instructed by Virgin Mary and she also had Eucharist by Zochey (I think was the name of the monk). The main differences between Orthodox Christianity and Roman Catholicism. the main things which keep our religions separate are: Papal Supremacy, Papal Infallibility, The Filioque, Absolute Divine Simplicity, Created Grace Doctrine, natural theology, scholasticism, Original sin, sacred heart doctrine, Immaculate conception, Purgatory, Merits/Indulgences, evolution of Dogma,imaginative prayer, "beatific vision" etc Then the Forced Celibacy of Priests, The use of Unleavened Bread in the Eucharist, The Adoption and change of the Christian calendar, The use of Renaissance statues, Pews, Child Communion, improper non immersion baptism, Cardinals, and differences in liturgical practices (Alter tables, Iconostasis, priest positioning etc) all of those things, we say the Western Church adopted and innovated and became heretical when they adopted these things. And we say that in the early church NONE of these things existed, there is no evidence of these things. No examples of Papal Infallibility, No examples of merits/indulgences, and no examples of unleavened wafer bread, and such. In fact in the west, In Rome. It looked a lot similar to how we Orthodox exist today. Our priests can get married, we use Icons and not statues, we use the old calendar etc Orthodoxy Vs Roman Catholicism: Energy Essence Distinction vs Absolute Divine Simplicity Ancestral Sin vs Original Sin Non Filioque Trinity vs Filioque Trinity Patriarchy vs Papacy Revealed Theology vs Natural Theology Hesychasm Vs Scholasticism Theosis vs Sanctification Married Priest vs Celibate Priests Infant Communion Vs Non Infant Communion Iconography vs Statues Full Immersion Baptism vs Sprinkle Baptism One Baptism vs Confirmation Baptism Leavened Communion Bread vs Unleavened Communion bread Julian Calendar vs Pope Gregory's Calendar We are not the same Religion, we do not have the same faith, and anyone who looks into either religions genuinely will see how different we are.

The greater misfortune is how terrible Orthodox Christians present themselves to non-believers (myself included). Why would people want to join when all they see are cultural clubs (why I ended up at an OCA parish, they were the only ones to welcome me without constantly asking why I was there if I wasn’t a certain ethnic background) , freemasonry in some, lack of living out the faith in person at work and school, high divorce rates that the whole communities air out to the whole world for the sake of pity for one party, and the EP celebrating with non-Orthodox? It’s small things like this video that at least show the world there are more components to Orthodoxy than what’s perceived at times.

After comparing over a year the life of "saints" from different denominations the most Christ-like and spiritual saints I found within the Orthodox church. Just to look at the contemporary saints one will easily recognize that the Orthodox Church is still very very active and fruitful in producing great saints. If somehow really wants to become holy and struggle with his whole being for that, he will choose the best way to holiness. Also one of the reason why the former famous Roman catholic theologian and hermit Gabriel Bunge converted to Orthodox Church. He said the most spiritual person he met in Orthodox Church was dimensions (!) above the most spiritual person he ever met within the Roman Catholic church.

I will never understand why if this is the genuine belief of the orthodox and catholic faiths, that they are hardly involved in mission at all. Why can protestants open 100s of new churches with the heart to see people saved, and yet this church, who believes 90% of Christians are not truly in the faith, can't run a service in a local language? Does a shepherd just let another shepherd walk off with his sheep?
@lessthandust
@lessthandust 29 минут назад
hardly involved is a quite exaggeration, we see many orthodox missions worldwide. But at the same time the requirements to become an orthodox priest and the taks he fullfills are much hgher/wider compared to a protestant pastor. Its also a question of capacity. My priest although he has a family, he has only one week vacation per year, working over 10 hours per day form Monday till Sunday, because he has soo many things to do in his parish - and now to ask him to run an additional service in a local language makes no sense. Many orthodox churches are already quite full. More locals need to become priests.

If they know about the orthodox faith and refuse to join, they'll go to hell. But if they've never heard of it and are good Christians and believed in Christ by the heretic teachings of their forefathers, then there is a possibility that they would be judged by their conscience. But we mustn't take god's position here and this is where satan gets us. Orthodoxy is the way and whoever rejects it will be sent to hell. Those who don't know, will be known. We don’t know when our time will come but who can live this way? Saints. But we are not all saints. Our hope lies in the mercy and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

alot of people say, well at least they believe therefore they are ok where they are ... is this true ? has this been ve4ofied by scripture ? i call upon all those who read the scripture and swear 100% that they declare it as an infallible source for divine guidance. lets give an example in scripture. the followers of John the Baptist. they heard about the coming messiah and they got baptised into baptism of repentance given by John. they were living lives of fasting and repentance. when the time came, the met with the apostles . what happened next, they need to get rebaptised and receive Christ. another instance, the samaritwn woman, who confessed God who tood Christ her forefathers worshipped God here, but Christ gave forejnowledge and truth concerning where salvaton lies. Just these examples show tell us clearly that ones way of truth or knowledge of God, needs to be corrected. Jesus or the apostles, always showed the peoples the right or better way to salvation. Our church , our confession, our dogma, our tradition , which uphold the mysteries have all the essentials needed to guide oned life to grace and theosis

I see lots of arguments over religious matters on RU-vid. People saying they are the one true church, everyone else is going to hell, etc. etc. Jesus said "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." Notice he didn't say if you belong to a particular church or sect. If you care about what church you belong to more than following Jesus then you aren't any better than the Pharisees of Jesus' day. Choose relationship over religion. Christ didn't sacrifice Himself so that His children can squabble over such insignificant things such as which songs we sing, how often we partake of communion, what kind of bread we eat, or what funny hats we wear. All the while we lose focus of what really matters; spreading the Gospel to a lost and dying world so that others may come to know Jesus and receive Him in their hearts.

The Lord himself gave us very few hints how to know where His church is: He promised to never leave His church (therefore it must be a historical one). And: by their fruits you will know.

Can a good orthobro explain to me why the Orthodox Church decided to break from the papal tradition?
@matium1528
@matium1528 10 часов назад
There is no Papal tradition. 1 Patriarch went his way and 4 stayed,not 4 left and 1 stayed. Look at history,look into tradition. There is zero tradition in the Roman Catholic Church.
@LadyMaria
@LadyMaria 7 часов назад
@@MountainsBreath The Orthodox Church didn't. The local Roman church broke with Apostolic tradition, and with the wholeness (katholiki) of the Church to create a new communion of churches under the new supreme Papacy to rival the existing Church.

The Bible tells you how to be saved. I don't understand why you guys can't just go based on what the Bible says, without adding to it or putting spin. If this is an official teaching of the EO church, I would never join it or bring my kids into it under any circumstance. If you think the church saves you (doesn't matter which denomination), and that's what you're putting your faith in, then you're not saved. I wouldn't join a church like this, no matter how good the music and architecture is, because then my kids, grandkids, etc., are going to be putting their faith in something other than Jesus, and I would bear the guilt of bringing them into this sort of institution where a false gospel is taught. I really hope this is not the official position of the EO Church, otherwise there are going to be all sorts of congregants who think they are saved because of church membership, and who haven't really been taught how to be saved.

How do you know that what you think the Bible says is actually the truth? What about the 40,000 other protestant divisions in America who all think they have the correct interpretation; how can you be sure you have it correct as opposed to any of them? The fact that there is this much confusion and disagreement among protestants is proof that the truth is not self-evident.

@@Procopius464 Christ saves us in the end (if He wills) in the Body of Christ where He is Head. We don't believe we are saved now, but being saved if we are on the Path with Christ in His Body (the Church). If Christ wills to save those outside of His Body, as God He does as He pleases. It isn't our business. We didn't redefine the boundaries of the Body of Christ when Protestantism was created to include those who do not hold the Faith as that isn't our place to do a worldly thing such as that. To join or not is your business. We are only telling what has always been believed since before splits happened off of the Body of Christ. An emotional appeal on RU-vid against this 2,000 years old Faith will not change that. Our entire Faith has always been in the Holy Trinity. Judge us wrongly and say things that are not true if you must but we will continue in His Way.

There are no Christian’s who “just go based on what the Bible says”, we make interpretations of it. Protestants shouldn’t be denying considering the hundreds of schism based on differing interpretations, but yet they incessantly do. Every low church Protestant claims to simply follow the plain reading of the Bible yet have contradicting opinions about what it says and allows. There’s no better argument against sola scriptura than watching Protestants squabble on who has the plainer and quite frankly the more imbecilic exegesis.
