Will Bangkok or Jomtien Pattaya Beach "REALLY" Host Formula One? 🇹🇭

Thailand is considering Bangkok and Pattaya as potential host cities for future Formula 1 events. Bangkok, Pattaya, U-Tapao and even Jomtien Beach have been suggested. It will be interesting if this happens although it seems unlikely.

Thanks Heath, Great to finally meet you in person and Thanks for the coffee 👍 A Formula 1 event would be awesome in Jomtien beach With some upgrades on the roads I think it can be done Plus the roads have been trial tested by some of the locals already 😅😎

I'll go with hi-speed train from Bangkok... As forthe restaurant, there were many tries in the last 15 years to open classy restaurants on beach road in Jomthien. They all wen down. This one looks it's gonna be BIG! Thanks for the update. What about the ex-Sigma?

Yes. Thailand will get an F1 at some stage. Not sure where. Actually the baht bus route makes a great circuit, with some go-go bar pit stops, Just close it for the race day.

I lived in Las Vegas for their inaugural F1 race there in 2023. The pre-race & post-race work that needed to be done completely crushed everybody's ability to get around the city for a full 12 months. It was a disaster. They were still trying to clean up after it 5 months after it was over. Attendance was poor. The people who worked in the area couldn't get to and from work on many days w/o a massive hassle. Not during the race week - but for months before and after. Some of the ride share guys chose to leave town, it was so bad. Thailand does not need this freaking nightmare. For having experienced this first hand just last year, I DO NOT recommend that a Pattaya or Jomtien sized area take this on. It will have regrettable side effects. And let's face it, F1 isn't quite The Super Bowl or The Olympics, is it? Not even close.

They would have to close Beach Road AND 2nd Road. - Beach road is too narrow for two-way racing. - Beach road is too short for a one-way trip.

The would have to set up MILES of metal seating for months in advance of the race, and take 2 months to take it down after the race. The entire area would legitimately be unusable for at least 6 months.

@@ScooterOnHisWay2024 I agree except for the timeline. -- I worked near the Long Beach, CA, USA route, which was blocked for about 3 weeks. 2weeks before and about 5 days after the actual race.

I heard Bangkok was a plan for F1 too, your Jomtien videos show the increased development, have you noticed prices rising ? The hotels on the front are fabulous. Thanks for keeping us updated.

How will a street circuit in Thailand be made safe for F1 cars? There are so many drains, speed humps, electricity poles right next to the road etc. And how on earth would you stop the motorcycle taxis from ignoring the road closed signs 😂😂😂 Surely the inspectors will be looking at the race circuit at Buriram? I'm going there in October to see the MotoGP race and was there for the World Superbike race in 2019. It's a good circuit

Damn, I hope they hold off any announcements until after I've purchased a condo lol. Could throw a spanner in my plan if the prices skyrocket before I buy. I know a lot of people in around Las Vegas were not pleased to get a Formula One race because it really screwed up traffic and had troubles getting into restaurants and other parts of town.

It won't be Pattaya or Jomtien. I think the only options are Bangkok and U-Tapao as they have international airports.

Count me in that group. It was an awful, awful experience for locals. F1 constantly demanded changes and didn't want to foot the bill. Guess who paid? Las Vegas. And guess who they passed those costs onto? You guessed it, those of us who lived there.

If Thailand or any other country gets a new Formula One race, they will have to build a track. It's similar to getting an NBA, NFL, MLB franchise in N. America. You get the team after you sign up for building a new stadium. Texas hosts Formula One after somebody ponied up a lot of money for all the new facilities.

Why not hold it there they r big into mortar bike racking in my country they just close of the road to cars check it out northwest it’s crazy the speeds they go on rads not made for racing the Isle of Man is the same 😊😊

I agree. All the roads would need to be resurfaced for F1 cars, safety barriers, road closures, spectator areas, security measures in place. It's not practical to have in on the roads here.

I suspect BKK is the only real option. LM want destination cities for any new races. LOTS of brown envelopes will be needed!!!

@@fromoneendofthailand I believe the previous proposed routes were in the area around Wat Sa Ket, few different layouts. This was years ago though. I think there was also talk of a layout that ran between Lumphini and Bechakitti parks. Its highly unlikely they will build a track, its just not worth the cost.

They would actually have to triple the pre-race construction compared to what they are doing now. It would essentially shut down the entire area, period.
