Underrated. My rolls turned into rocks and anything with potatoes turned into sweet potatoes. In one line, 7th and 8th graders get grilled cheese sandwiches and real tater tots meanwhile the line right next to it for the 9th graders (“high schoolers” even though this was a middle school) there ain’t no grilled cheese and the taters are orange. Speaking of oranges, you were REQUIRED to take one fruit or vegetable item with you with every meal. I can’t count the amount of produce I’ve thrown away because I was made to do it so I could get my food, of which, my lunch fund still had to pay for. Can’t make a horse drink now can’t you BIG MIKE? Vending machines were no refuge either. All soda was diet except for one machine out of like 8 in a big High School that had a bad flavor of Mtn. Dew Kickstart, and they were all overpriced compared to what you could buy in vending machines 10-15 years ago. Come senior year and a lot of the brands you’d be able to recognize are replaced by proprietary ones that obviously wouldn’t make it in the retail world and choose to subsidy farm with all the “healthy” jargon needed to sell your 3$ 6 oz bag of sugar gummies in a place where young adults are supposed to be taught to thrive in independent life (which they fail at teaching), where they are disrespected by these bureaucratic kid gloves at every corner, slowly eating away at every “little thing” that was good or you didn’t know you took for granted before it was gone and replaced with a new annoyance that impacted you daily. Real Abolition of Man type stuff. All this to force “healthy eating” instead of encouraging one to do so voluntarily by the way, but at least your taxes keep going up to pay them more every year and not fix any fundamental issue whatsoever!
