Checking your tires was a very smart thing to do my son and daughter-in-law moved to Fairbanks Alaska. They drove from Texas to Alaska. They ended up going through three U-Haul trucks and they were held over for about a week because the Alaskan highway washed out was quite an experience for them.

Thank you for ALL the good memories of driving the Alaska Hwy. Lived in Northern B.C, Yukon for over 20 yrs of my younger days. Loved seeing it again. I do miss it ... if i were younger and in better health i think i would return - it's a different way of life for sure. Smiles and hugs from GrammeZN aka Mimi =) Looking forward to the next one. Oh my mouth was watering when i saw those Cinnamon Buns ... i remember them well. Thanks again.

When my parents and I took the AlCan, the road had 1500 miles of gravel, ice cream cones were made with canned milk, and every so often there were signs that said like "One killed here." Mosquitos were so bad that we cooked our meals inside a canvas tent on our Coleman stove. We went to Anchorage and then to Seward and I and my older brother took the water route back to Washington to our island home in a 44-foot wooden boat.

Thanks for subbing! Gary is doing a bit better. It’s been a little over 2 weeks since his injury and has started therapy. He is trying to not have surgery if possible. Venezuela… how cool. Someday we hope to make it that far south. Closest we’ve been is Cartagena Columbia. Take care and chat soon!

Yes but we hope to do an RV trip back to the Yukon this summer or next. My goal is to go Top of the World over to Dawson CIty, up to Tuk and then I would really love to go visit Atlin, then down to Skagway and take the ferry over to Haines and back up to Alaska.

Oh many I know you Aussies had it hard too. We watched our friends here in Alaska live a pretty normal life during the summer of 2020 and was a big factor why we chose to move here. Thanks for watching from down under! 😉 Australia is high on my bucket list to visit.

What an exciting adventure I’m sorry you got that bad behaviour in Dawson but as we all know Covid definitely showed how some people really are. But most of Canada is not like that. You’re living my dream thanks for taking us along. One day I will take a trip up that way.

We absolutely love Canada and always say the best part of RVing to Alaska is Canada. We know tensions were high then and just laughed it off. 99.9% of all the Canadians we spoke to on that trip were curious how the border agents treated us and were very supportive of us traveling through.

@LivingFreeAlaska

It was a stressful time for folks. Seeing Alaska plates probably bothered some and most don't realize how far that road trip is. Getting out every once in a while to stretch our legs was very important. We LOVE our Canadian neighbors and this truly was one of the few times folks were disrespectful.

🤣 It’s okay. We know most of our Canadian neighbors are awesome folks. Tensions were high then and honestly most were super nice and wanted to hear how we got into the country. We had a good chuckle at those yahoos in Dawson Creek… we couldn’t be happier to “go home”. Have a great evening and thanks for watching.

Hi. Fellow future Alaskans ane RU-vidrs here. Did Canada require you to provide documents that you are severing ties with the lower 48? We are moving in 2026 but may not have our house sold.
@LivingFreeAlaska
@LivingFreeAlaska 5 месяцев назад
They did but it was because borders were closed due to the pandemic. In regular times such as now it’s not necessary.
