I have a 18 Hyundai Elantra 2.0 with 115,000 miles and the previous owners did not change the transmission fluid. Could doing a transmission fluid damage the clutch pack friction material? I was thinking of sucking out 1 quart of the old fluid and added 1 quart of AMSOIL, doing this repeatedly every 100 miles so the clutch pack would slowly re calibrate itself from 1 a clock back to 5 a clock setting. What are your thoughts?
@mrdecember5715 I would chnage the fluid right now if it was my car and use the signature series atf. It will clean it and come back in 5000 miles and do a nothwr drain and fill. You will see the shop by vehicle and check what your transmission fluid type calls for. @@Syntheticoilprotection thank you for responding. I'm a techcinian so I do all the work myself, but I've been concerned if doing the transmission fluid would cause harm.
@mrdecember5715 💯, yeah I never had any problems with the transmission ever on the channel and I've switched old cars new cars everything doing a drain and fill will make your car shift so much better☕️👍 The lookup guide on the website will give you all the products and flu capacity for your year make model and engine size. It will say shot by vehicle in the upper left hand corner after you click on and go through to the Amsoil web page through my website - syntheticoilprotection.net
I changed the atf on my 07 Lexus for Amsoil Fuel Efficient at 190k miles despite everyone in the IS group telling me not to/telling me to only use Toyota WS. 5k miles later and it has never shifted smoother plus I get way better mpg’s than before.
@@mdb831 You're comparing 2 different things... WS stands for world standard, and it's what Toyota uses as automatic transmission fluid. Pennzoil platinum is motor oil.
Changing your oils and car Fluids early is much better then to late, having your Fluids cleaner is way better for your car or truck. Protection is maintaining your car on time ir earlier. Great video content.
Yes I did do a transmission fluid change in my 2016 tundra. Iv used royal purple in the past. Good stuff though by this takes the cake ❤ smooth. Better shifting response. 😊
I commented on a video a while ago. Was changing my transmission fluid in my 05 equinox. It was slipping slightly. I changed the fluid 4 times, drain and fill. It stopped slipping and drove great
@@Syntheticoilprotection drain with a drain bolt 3 times then the 4th was a pan drop and clean with new filter. Today I just did severe gear in front and rear diffs in new vehicle
Had used the OE multi vehicle ATF in my vehicle, drain & fill. Changed at least 90+ percent of the fluid 19k miles ago and showed signs of improvement. Will change in 10k to signature series and do oil analysis at to see what is mentioned
The smoke show is always fun! I didn't use powerfoam on my car because amsoil says it's not recommended for gdi engines. But I used CRC intake valve cleaner and sprayed it into the intake manifold by removing the brake booster hose. A lot of smoke came out, loved it.
Great question when you change the transmission fluid on this car it loses about three and a half quarts of the 8 and 1/2 total quarts in the trans and then if you want to depending on the color of the fluid you can always come back and do another drain and fill if you want it to look better
The 90s Ford trucks have a small bolt that you can remove at the bottom of the torque converter, so you can drain both. Just remove a small inspection plate.
Awesome Eben, I have a 2007 Pilot with 215K miles I do a drain and fill every two years, my transmission is as smooth as a hot knife cutting through butter. I have been using the OE ATF instead of the Signature Series. Maybe next time I will try the Signature Series to see if it will be an improvement from OE.
What I've learned from transmission fluid changes is if you experience any kind of slipping chances are air got into the system or it was already slipping before the fluid change. Right after changing fluid it may look full on the dipstick then after some driving it could work good. Then after some more cruising some slipping occurs. Check the dipstick again and chances are it's gone down a little. Unless there is already pre existing conditions slipping shouldn't just occur out of nowhere
I been a mechanic for over 35 years and never heard of air in the system for a transmission that makes it slip. You have a dip stick that goes right into your transmission fluid which air gets into. Now air in your brake system will cause problems
@@DavidGuns it was during a fluid change. I connected the cooler to a line for draining. Would run the motor for 20 seconds stop fill and repeat. After checking the dipstick it looked fine. After some driving slipping occured. After adding some more fluid the slipping went away. It sounds more like air getting into the system than anything else.
I changed the manual transmission fluid on my 2020 Civic Si w/ genuine Honda fluid. However, I purchased the amsoil CVT fluid for my 2023 HRV. Can't wait to throw it in at about 30k.
@@Syntheticoilprotection I'm not sure I just signed up online. However, I would like to try the product first and if I am impressed I have been thinking about becoming a dealer. Perhaps I could be your down line.
Good videos I used to use your product many years ago and just got back to using it in my 2019 silverado 1500 5.3 and a 8L90 transmission they were recommending to get my transmission rebuild or replaced and I used the amsoil synthetic atf fluid just to see if it would do anything and its now shifting better than it did brand new so thank you for your videos
You can do a transmission flush if you do it properly Without The Machine however it takes a bunch of people to do it and it's complicated. There's nothing wrong with using the Amsoil transmission flush.
Just drained and filled 6 qts on my 2009 yukon denali 6.2 with 191k miles and runs and shifts so much better its holds 12.4 qts so ill come back in about 6k miles and drain and fill 6 more qts
I haven’t had the opportunity to try the ATF, but I was pleased with the CVT fluid in my Subaru, definitely felt smoother and I think mpg went up just a hair. I am nervous to change my ATF on my 1995 Oldsmobile (recently given to me) because I don’t know the service history and it can shudder from time to time. Perhaps I could pump out 2 quarts and put in the Amsoil and do that a few times? I just think changing 7 quarts at once on this car might not be the best.
Yes that's exactly what I would do Jason I would just do a pan drop change the filter and change half the fluid and you'll be amazed at how much smoother it runs😉👍
If fluid is black just drive it till it dies or have it rebuilt if fluid is lite brown or yellow or clear looking or cherry red witch it likely will not be (chery red) get a large pan with a drip pan undernith if you can access the cooler lines find witch one is the return line to transmission haven fluid go out the return line in to a drain pan until it starts to spit out (when not coming out smooth any more) turn engine off right away make sure shifter is in park with parking brake firmly set before doing the above first; don't rev engine just have it ideal only. If there's no drain plug on the tranny or pan; its less messy when taking the pan off doing it this way. After changing filter and cleaning the pan and reinstalling it pore new clean tran fluid; the amount back in that's for the initial amount thats required or a little more whith the return line off going towards drainpan restart engine and pour new fluid in to funnel that's in the tranny dip stick tube or what ever the dip stick came out of until clean looking fluid comes out of the return line; this way you're not mixing old fluid on a large scale with new fluid.; plan on using more fluid doing this say one to three quarts more than total fill go through the gears once while doing this TURN ENGINE OFF; it helps to have a helper while doing this. If you want just take some fluid out at first and use transmission fluid cleaner and add some fluid to bring up the fluid to the proper level while the engine is running check with dip stick regularly so you get the right level have the vehicle on level surface and it doesn't hurt to make sure tires are properly inflated to ensure vehicle is level or at least very close to leavel get inside and start the engine; go through the gears slowly and momentarily stay in the different gears selection don't drive the vehicle and make sure to press the brake pedal down firmly when doing this and put back in park. Fowell the instruction of the cleaner; in the pass I've used lube guard cleaner ,but amzoil is probably just as good. Ps if the trann filter is like some fords were it has a tube that stick in to the valve body were the gasket stays in the hole that comes off the old filter use a zinc coated long shank nail the roofing head makes the perfect toll to remove the round gasket out of the valve body; using a pair vice grips to hold the nail shank; also if you still have shutter issues after servicing tranny use instant SHUTTER fix by Lube guard up to two of them if one doesn't stop the shutter problem. I'm not a auto technician but I have worked on my own car including doing the r and r on engine & tranny
Depends on the transmission some you can drain all of it others it's usually just the drain pan a lot stays in the torque converter which is normal and yes if it was my personal vehicle I would change it and everything is right here in the lookup guide and when you use my link that will attach me to you in the future I can always answer all your questions about improving the performance and Lace band of your vehicles by being your independent Amsoil dealer the 6-month PC membership will give you the best value and there's also two new promotions which I will attach below and then the 6-month PC membership. I have a question Eben. I have a 04 Lexus LS 430 with 193k on the clock. I’ve had the car for a year now and don’t know if/whens the last time the transmission fluid had been changed. A lot of people tell me not to, even the Lexus dealer. Should I do it with any amsoil products or leave it alone as stated by many??? I’m just trying to make the vehicle last till at least half a million lol

Hi Eben I heard now dayz that Torque Converter doesn't get flushed out for Obvious Reasons but there is a another way, where the Torque Converter is taken out and cleaned. After Torque converter is cleaned then it is either Pre-Filled with ATF or not pre-fill then inserted back. After that new ATF is filled in. That's after the pan and the filter is taken out then new fluid is filled in then Torque converter is taken out. It may be a new thing they are doing. It doesn't get all ATF out around 80% max. Don't know if that method is done in USA
That would be an expensive serviced if you paid that to be done if there a problem with togrq converter for removing replace it with a fresh rebuilt one instead of having the old one put back; some T converters have a drain plug in them.
@@keithtomlin4649 the Toque Converter is taken out and cleaned and put back in. its not replaced with another Torque Converter. Yes the service will be expensive and have to stand in workshop and watch them do it.
Question is the signiture series severe duty i think is what its called the red package atf is it compatiable with a ford calling for mercon LV all i see printed out amsoil website is mercon and mercon v compatable the OE fuel efficient is the only one that specifically says mercon lv untill you bring up the full data sheet which has the same rating as the signiture series
Some cars had torque converters you can drain. Some Mercedes had them and possibly other brands. There would be some sort of access hole to make it easier. I guess the hard part was lining the hole up in the access hole. It is a shame they don't make them like that much any more. A large portion of the fluid is in the torque converter then there is still some in the passages that can only be changed with drains and fills from the pan but that is least of it. Some Asian vehicles have a round cartridge style filter on the side somewhere that some people never knew existed. There is usually a housing over them with a few bolts holding it. it is sometimes more full of debris than the screen filter in the pan that I can't trust as far as I can throw it to catch all of the dirt and debris! Some people think a screen is good enough and I say *NO* , it is just better than nothing at all!!

I’ve never messed with changing the tranny oil before..I’ve always been told you have to change the filter and everything and it’s complicated. So does the new fluid just mix with the old and make it more powerful?
You don't have to change the filter. If you're dropping the pan already it's one of those things like why not do it. But if it's just drain and fill there's no need. It mixes and you get those new additives and extra protection.
hey eben... i wanna try a simple drain and fill on my toyota solara/A541e trans with 274k ...I HAVE TO BE 100% SURE OF TYPE... can you tell me Which version of the ATF is compatible with dex 111?? thank you!
