Braithwaite's work on Conan is fantastic. His take is much different than De La Torres' but equally intense, although more detailed (the coloring is also magical). Well done to all contributors. I love this series. Keep up the great work! Having said that though, and forgive me if this is the wrong place to ask this, but what's with the inconsistencies found in this 2nd arc's art? Conan's helmet disappears in one panel and reappears in the next, one horn on the helmet is broken here and then it's intact there. And this is a question that should probably not be directed to the artist but to the publishing house. I spotted these "glitches" on the first read, didn't anyone else see them? I do not wish to mess with the good vibes of this video and the channel in general. I love your work Mr. Braithwaite!
I've met Doug several times, a quiet, charming, self effacing and ridiculously talented man who is just great to chat too. I'm blessed to own several pieces of his art.
@conanthebarbarianofficial Only when is going to attend Nice again (It's a small, intimate Comic-con that concentrates on artists, located in Bedford, England). It is where I've met him and his wife several times, then covid hit and he was not there when it restarted last year and won't be there this year either. So I'm hoping he will be returning in the future. Tell him Maurice and Jane were asking 😊
Just got the trade with Doug's art and I loved it. Also really liked the Evil Dead flavor of it, already got volume 3 pre-ordered and can't wait for it!
Wonderful Podcast.. I had never heard of this artist, but looking at his art now; *he is amazing!* Can't wait to see more of it. *Question:* How come your channel doesn't have a donate button? I would love to send some 'love' from time to time to show my thanks for your channel! 🥰
That's too kind, thank you! No donations are necessary as this is a full-time paid position; Heroic Signatures takes good care of me! The best love you can show team Conan is to help spread the word, and maybe buy a shirt from conan.com/store/ 😉Cheers! -Shawn🍻
@@conanthebarbarianofficial Will do Shawn!! Most of the T-shirts on the website are a little "too busy" for me; I like a smaller and 'distressed' look for my t-shirts that have prints on them. BUT!! Because I want to support you and the channel and the overall love of Conan you, your channel, Titan Team, and all your guests show; I am going to go purchase the "Undefeated Tee" right now! Plus, I just bought a "Naked Copy" of that comic where the art is from. Look for the order in the next few minutes! 😁😁
Hey, you can't beat Frazetta, Buscema, Chan, Barry-Smith --- but only time can reveal legends of that status. Doug and Rob craft their art by hand and show an immense respect to that classic era of Conan.
Great video. I didn’t realise that Doug Braithwait was British a local lad did good, fantastic . Everyone should checkout his Justice League book he did with Alex Ross
Totally get it, dude. The agony of being an untalented artist. Been there. Makes it all worthwhile when I see someone with monster truck talent. As always, many thanks 👍🍻
@@conanthebarbarianofficial It's just that you guys were talking about things with artistic references in mind, and it would have been great occasional visual reinforcement, to help me keep up with the discussion. I totally understand about it being more work than you may be able to handle at this point. I did still watch end to end.
@@SG-js2qn There's several specific moments where visual aids could have been beneficial to listeners. Something for the future! I may end up adapting bits of this episode into one minute reels, better late than never! Thanks, for the feedback and support!
@@SG-js2qn I second that suggestion. It works as it is but being able to see exactly what we're talking about as we're talking about it would make it even better. Especially if we're talking about a specific stylistic choice or a specific panel.
Ok gonna throw this one out there. How about Conan team ups we would love to see. I'll start. For this one we need to go back to Marvel Conan the Savage #4 Face to face with Rune. It's that final panel where eyes in Runes just detached head just pop open. Phhuuuuk! This screams for a continuation!! So try this on for size, Conan teams up with...... VAMPIRELLA!!!!🧛♀️
I dislike a lot of modern Conan comic art. It's sometimes too stylized I assume because the artist is trying to do something unique and not just echo the classic art. Braithwaite gets it though. He reminds me of Ernie Chan and Barry Smith, but BWS tended to draw Conan as kind of lanky. I like Doug Braithwaite's proportions better. The art looks distinctive while still being informed by the classic art.
