Hey guys, we tested out a glitter tumbler using a plastic tumbler and doing the hanging method because this tumbler would not sit on my spinner.

My thing is, you didn't actually put it on the plastic, you put it over glue and glitter. I was wanting to know if the plastic needed to be prepped like the stainless steel tumblers? Sand papered, white paint, then work the cup?

Yes, you can prep it just like a stainless steel. And then decorate just like a stainless steel.

Sand paper will make the finish scratchy and the epoxy will amplify that. I just clean it with 91% alcohol. Never been a problem.

I have a thick plastic tray I want to resin. I know it won’t stick to the plastic. You can paint it any color or spray paint it. But you do need some it will adhere to. I’m about to try it myself 😬 wish me luck

Thanks for the video. Do you let each layer of epoxy dry before adding the other one? Also, how long do you let the completed bottle dry before handling it? I'm in the process of adding the epoxy to some wine tumblers that I'm making for gifts.

Hi! Yes, I wait till each layer is completely dry before adding another layer. This can take between 5-8+ hours depending on how much you put on it and the conditions (temps) of your work area. I wait a full 24 hours before I take photos and 48 hours before I wrap it to send it to its new home. It is worth to note that it does take 30 days to cure before it is actually considered food safe/FDA compliant.

I loved your video.....excellent instruction. I did a small neck water bottle and found it really difficult to hold onto just the neck. Also when I went to sit it down to dry the first coat, I had difficulty standing it up without touching it. Any suggestions will help. It's my first attempt

If you are only adding a vinyl decal there is no need to add epoxy.

I heard the same thing. Which makes the water bottle un-usable. I'm not sure if epoxy is food grade🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️

@@GGW889 Epoxy will not leach through plastic and once it's cured, it's not toxic. They line old plastic and PVC water pipes with epoxy to prevent the pipes from leaching chimicals into the water supply. The ONLY issue I have with plastic containers is if they flex. If they flex with little pressure, the seal can easily be broken and liquid can get between the epoxy and the cup. Then you have bacteria and mold growing.

maybe this is a dumb question but will it dry faster (epoxy) if we have a fan hitting it?

If there is anything in the room, even dust, the fan will likely blow it towards the cup getting it stuck to the epoxy. It would cause more work for you,

Iris Melendez do not use epoxy on these. The epoxy company will tell you it is unsafe!

You are correct that these should be double walled when using epoxy! Every epoxy company will tell you this. You can get very sick.

Do you use a torch or heat gun to remove bubbles from your epoxy?

Sheila VanNorman - No, after I mix my epoxy I let it sit for 2 minutes. This allows the air to float to the top and pop. Plus when layering the epoxy in thin coats like I did, you won’t get any air bubbles. I don’t like torching when doing tumblers. I only really do that when I put epoxy in a mold.

It will depend on a few things. How much epoxy you used, temp of the room, size of the cup- but typically it takes 6-8 hours to harden and 24 hrs to fully dry.

Any modpodge should work fine. It’s just holding the glitter in place until you epoxy to seal it all in.

I've been told no, I use triple thick acrylic spray. The epoxy can leach through the cheap plastic.

If you use enough epoxy and it’s smooth all the way around when you are done then you don’t need to sand it. If it’s bumpy then you’ll need to sand and epoxy again.

I know this video is a year old however I went to craft bundles.com because he referred us there. Are you wanting to buy the land of the free bundle and to my dismay they advertise it they have all 50 states when in actuality they only have 49. Forgetting the very first day which is Delaware. Where I am actually from. I’m not sure how long they been selling it bundle short changing their customersAs I told them that’s a bad move. I’m only commenting here because when we refer people to certain places we have to know the integrity of those companies. I still very much like your bottle.
