I found your videos yesterday and I’ve binge watched. They are the best I’ve seen on this tumbler phenomenon. I really like that there’s not a lot of chit chat and you move right along. You are easy to understand and your extra tips are appreciated. Your tumblers are beautiful. I also love the glimpses of your personal life: wife, mother of triplets, hairdresser, crafter! Girl you rock! I don’t know if I’ll ever try the tumblers......toying with trying for gifts but I’ll continue to follow you.

Love your videos. I also wondered about using plastic tumblers. Question what about condensation? Will that do anything to the epoxy? Thanks
@LittleLeeandRose
@LittleLeeandRose 5 лет назад
val phil Nope! The condensation is just on the outside. Water on the outside doesn’t mess with epoxy (luckily or this wouldn’t work at all because you wouldn’t be able to wash it. If water gets behind the epoxy it’s because there wasn’t a good seal between the epoxy and cup. But if that’s the case it’s doomed regardless because you can’t wash it or get it wet at all

Is the epoxy safe through the plastic since it is not double walled? Not only for consumption but with the condensation from the cold liquid will it breakdown the epoxy?

We never put plastic cups in the dishwasher so this is perfect. No worries of heat messing with the epoxy. Much cheaper than metal tumblers too, though they don’t keep ice quite as cold. How do you wash the silicone brushes though?

I have found plastic bottles just like this one at the dollar store but they are not hard you can squeeze and flex the side of the bottle. If dropped or squeezed will the epoxy crack and break off? Or does it reinforce the plastic so you can no longer squeeze and bend the sides in?
@LittleLeeandRose

LittleLee and Rose Thank you, ma’am. I didn’t know if the epoxy would reinforce the plastic enough or not. Do you think it is hard enough for small hands(4 to 6 year olds)? I have feral children who might try to hulk out on a pretty cup. They know not to throw and break things on purpose but might try to show me how strong they are. I don’t sell much, I mostly just craft for fun and gifts for family. Is it true at applying epoxy to plastic makes it toxic? I read this in another group post. They recommended not to use epoxy on the .99 cent water bottles from Walmart. TIA
@NamelessGrace
@NamelessGrace 4 года назад
Sandra Ruiz the concern is that the heat that is produced by the epoxy will cause the plastic to leach toxic chemicals. This is the same as when you microwave plastic. I would definitely use BPA free plastics if you do this. Again though, if you microwave food in plastic containers the danger is the same, so it’s up to you what you feel comfortable with.

Oh okay I watched other videos and they said heat gun so I ran out and bought one. Now I need to get a torch! Ha my husband is starting to wonder what I’m up to!!!! Tonight I painted a bunch of the plastic tumblers I bought at the $1 tree. Right now they have a bunch of fun tumblers and the lids are different colors. I was actually going to test using the epoxy on one then I came across your video. I’m glad I did now I can go to town with them. Thank you for your video, you’re great and I am following you!

On the packaging it says epoxy is flammable i was wondering is it truly safe to use a blow torch to pop the bubbles?

Valery Lopez I have been doing this for a long time and have used numerous epoxies and have never had an issue with it.

After you put the first layer of epoxy and glitter do you wait for it to dry or just press down on the glitter then instantly apply the epoxy? When applying the second and third layer if epoxy do you just allow the first layer of epoxy to cure for 12 hours then add the other layers?
@LittleLeeandRose
@LittleLeeandRose 5 лет назад
For the first layer I do hangmethod add the glitter and press it down. Wait 6 hrs then apply another coat you can apply the top coats as soon as 4hrs between each but I generally wait to see if I need to sand in between

Thank you 🤗. Do you use the drill master rotary tool to sand your cups? I’m assuming that’s why you listed it but I want to be sure.

telisha spencer I use it for repairs! Also cleaning up the edges! It is perfect for sanding out tiny spots like bubbles and bugs LOL

Why did so many videos say you can’t epoxy over a single layer plastic Tumblr?

Jubilee Sisters not suppose only two layer wall plastic cup because the epoxy will go through a one layer and get people sick.
@LittleLeeandRose
@LittleLeeandRose 5 лет назад
Justine Arce That’s weird because that is incorrect. As long as it’s FDA compliant resin it is fine. They use epoxy resins to seal most canned food products

I came to the comments for comments like this. Would the spray paint make it not FDA approved? And what epoxy do you recommend for this type of project

Great video! Could I use modge podge to adhere the glitter?
@LittleLeeandRose
@LittleLeeandRose 5 лет назад
Connie Tang yes you can but will most likely need two coats and the chunky glitter won’t lay flat with modpodge so it will take more epoxy to cover

Elsa Garces if you are able to work steady then 3 days. Then it needs 3 days to completely cure to its most durable point before actual use

I cannot find a definite answer anywhere...can you use acrylic cups?
@LittleLeeandRose
@LittleLeeandRose 5 лет назад
Angie Sharitz yes 1000% yes. The people who tell you “no” are generally other makers who sell and don’t want the market flooded with lower prices cups... At least that’s all I can figure becoypu can totally work on acrylic
