After the amount of complex lures I have made I sometimes start to think I’m good at it…. And then I watch you make something as simple as Easter egg lures and am reminded that you really are in a league of your own. Beautiful work mate.

Hey Marling! Great vid! If I may, the next time you’re making two baits on a lathe,have the tails of your baits run into each other instead of keeping a wood nub between them. Think of it as making an hour glass. It keeps the baits as one piece of wood and they won’t break in the middle. After your done on the lathe just cut the lures in half at the narrowest point. Also love the way you painted using a drill! I’m gonna have to try that

I do not believe in being jinxed, but I laughed out loud when you caught that bass on the first cast. That curse has happened to me numerous times and sometimes with impressive fish. Catching a fish on a crank bait in Iowa in March is impressive. Doing it on an Easter egg you built in your personal bait-making hangar is beyond impressive. Very cool that it was caught on camera.

Those don't look bad at all. They're sort of like the little micro crankbaits I use for ultralight fishing, just bigger.

I wonder if you could put a divider in the center of the test tank and a pump pushing water down one side of the divider (like a racetrack). Hopefully you’d get a circle of current. If it worked, you wouldn’t have to “cast and reel” to see the action of a crank bait.

That was a cool idea.. The bite is hard right now. All the water was so very low. NOW ITS BACK UP. The fishing is hard cause it feels like the fish don't know there's water there to swim in like they're still contained to what the lake shrunk to. So I feel your pain man

I believe if you would have added a tail in white or maybe chartreuse, are even a hammered brass spinner would have been a premium choice for the bunny berries. But I'm not a expert in either catching, choosing, and definitely not building lures. That just what immediately popped into my head when you were pulling them through the water. With the natural action that they have, it would have added a better profile for the water coloring, and the natural tendency for fish to be somewhat lazy this time of year. Happy bunny berries to one n all. Hold your head up, because at least you are making an effort to at least catch a fish with your own creations, and you're miles ahead of the majority of people with that future monster of a cold blooded predator. So think about it that way, and how many people do you know of in your area that are even fishing now.

Ok first off, Happy Easter to you and your family, and second, ive run out of funny numbers, and have forgotten how many actual videos ive been asking, and i know you have your bait ideas scheduled and planned out a good while ahead of time, but a i dont think youve ever made a wedge tail bait, and i think it would be pretty cool, it doesnt have to have a 12/0 hook, any size would be fine

Have you tried placing smaller hooks on the egg lures and see what results you get? Sometimes just going with smaller hooks works, even for bigger lures. Lets be honest, how many Lakes, Rivers, etc have nothing but big fish in them?

During this time of year, do you ever use any lure scents? I've had some luck with them. I think this time of year they seem more attracted to smells and less to visual simulation.

You should make a bait out of all the old clear-coat epoxy you have once the container fills up. Also can "Grandma Crafts" be a new "One Day" type series?

Put a couple of sponge filters (cheaper, less modification) in the tank or a canister filter (more expensive, more editing the tank), it'll keep the water clear and you'll have to change it out less.

It's a very interesting action. It's such a violent wobble, yet it's super tight because of how stout the body is. I really dig this build.

Well, yeah, it's still lure crafting, still air brushing, some self deprecating humor, an eclectic choice of background music along with some good old family values, a little fishing trip and a dog. This was not a failure!!! The action was perfection thru the water, that you strive to attain with your plastics. Downsizing the egg size so it doesn't sound like a rock hitting the water could help, or make a smaller one for a mold and shoot whatever colors you want. Always love seeing your videos. Peace
