@4and20blackbirdsbakedinapi6
Ten minutes of CPR is usually unheard of. In medical facilities, we have staff standing in line to rotate doing CPR for two minutes each time because of how strenuous it is. These days, fortunate facilities and ambulance rigs have LUCAS, an automated robot that does CPR for people. Doing CPR isn’t easy. It has to be effectively done to hopefully perfuse the brain with adequate blood flow, which is why it is so strenuous and hard. Mrs Flanary did really good.

I had multiple pulmonary embolisms and lucky my DVM wife was off on a rare Saturday. I passed out trying to rest half way up a flight of stairs. Fell down the stairs. She heard it. Opened my airway. Got my heart started again and got me breathing and conscious shortly before EMS arrived. That was in July 2020. I had a roommate who was a Dr. In the 90's who said getting married extends your life expectancy. Bless Lady Glaucomflecken and Cindy for proving him right.

I survived a sudden cardiac arrest because I managed to hit the emergency call on my iPhone; fire and rescue broke down my door, saved my life. I was in a coma for a week but am mostly okay. I have some short term memory loss that has improved over time. One of the hardest things is the knowledge that it can happen so fast... It's been difficult to cope. I'm aware that anyone's life can end at any time but it's not an existential question for me or anyone who's survived sudden onset of a near fatal health problem.

I heard the 911 operator answer but I could not - I lost consciousness. I am constantly petrified that I could have a heart attack the very next second, and the stress of that constant hypervigilance is terrible on my health and then that makes the anxiety even worse. This is a really great question! When a person goes into Sudden Cardiac Arrest sometimes they exhibit what is called agonal breathing for seconds or minutes after their heart stops beating. It is not normal breathing. It sounds like snoring, snorting, gasping, or labored breathing. The person will appear to be choking or having an involuntary gasp reflex. Agonal breathing indicates that someone is likely dying. Acting quickly can save a life! Hi Ray! Dr. Flanary experienced agonal breathing, which woke his wife. She received T-CPR from a 911 dispatcher. We are very sorry to hear that. It sounds like you took action and did all that you could. Sadly, just 1 in 10 people who suffer Sudden Cardiac Arrest currently survive. We're working hard to try and improve that.

This is serious. Will be praying for you and your family. My husband and I enjoy and laugh at your content-you are gifted and hilarious man (my husband and I are both docs). Life is short though and the most important thing is to make peace with God to secure eternity. Jesus is the way, the Truth and the Life and no one comes to Father except through Him (John 14:6). Keep making people laugh bro-we hope the reality of life’s fragility will help you know Your Creator (if you haven’t already). God bless you.

I wonder if his cardiac arrest was secondary to COVID vaccines. He’s very tall and might have Marfan’s, which would definitely pit him at risk for vaccine complications. He was healthy, otherwise.
@avivesolutions

His SCA occurred before COVID vaccines were available. He had no warning signs or family history of heart disease, and as far as we know, he still isn’t sure why it happened. This is not unheard of, as many cases of SCA remain unexplained. This is exactly why its a good idea to be prepared with CPR training and an AED on hand or nearby. Thankfully, Dr. Flanary uses his platform as a speaker and comedian to raise awareness about how CPR and AEDs saves lives.

As far as we are aware, Dr. Flanary was never given a medical explanation for his Sudden Cardiac Arrest. Sudden Cardiac Arrest can happen in people without heart disease, strikes all ages, and impacts 1000 people every single day in the U.S. alone.

I’m sure this had nothing to do with a pokie thing in the arm. 👀
@KxNOxUTA

It indeed did not have anything to do with that. At that time the pokie things you probably mean were not invented yet. Which is why ppl were isolating and she had to find thing out via twitter rather than being able to visit him n person.

unless he was in the trials, bc the event happened in may 2020, or maybe he was a post covid patient.
