I went on a dual carriageway 60+ mph on my 3rd or 4th hour/lesson. But maybe it’s just cos of the area I live, you can’t really get anywhere without going on it

I live in the middle of nowhere, every lesson involves 70mph on a dual carriageway

They teach the stability on the buses to with a cup of tea due to the vulnerable people on the bus falling over

soon as i got basic learning so local town roads even then one was 50 mph that was 3 hour lesson it demonstrate braking car reacts at higher speed compared 20/30 get a real feel of the brakes, not long i was doing at least 1 70 road sometimes 2 to location and back on 70 duel, even my driving test we 70 duel carriageway, 12 miles south Birmingham in med size town so sounded by big fast roads and lots narrow streets and old towns / villages and plenty single track lanes. but these days most driving is in wales well ever since i passed as family and mates live in wales so the country lane driving was useful when i learned to drive as within week and a bit i found my first car and did two 8 hour drives through wales and lots single track roads and very steep hills to climb and handbrake what useless and on 25% grade in passing place with car close behind and bad health it was impossible to take off handbrake as on so much and operate pedals smoothly but as i was told at 40 hours i was ready but decided to do an extra 15-16 hours because nerves i learned a lot more so managed to get out few situations like that like heal and toe in first week and bit driving. or off road in my diesel fiesta on woodland track got half way up tree blocking road and huge drop off to the right was side steep mountain on most grave / mud track handbrake was fixed but did no work road was to slippy one thing did learn extra driving lessons i ask lot questions so had good understanding of the car way to risky backing down so had to continue till i got to Y fork in track few 100 meters up but had to exit car to clear road of log / thick branch what too big for car to go over, put it in gear handbrake fully on and engine of and hope it not pop out of gear it worked, managed a 3 point tun on very steep un even steep mud split in the track on side of big drop and got out the woods. learned a lot very fast when i got driving, bad health so my car going to get me as close as i can to where im going even if it a bit off road, never done damage or got stuck and only had city cars, pick right lines and only just enough speed to get drive tires back on track as one lifts and not enough speed you high and dry but not only needed that for own adventures but even once on road close detour my car on felt like Dakar dusty gravel back road with holes so deep on three wheels a lot so off road self training helped even van drivers coming the other way were really shocked how bad road was. still got city car but not a lot yet off road but it will have when start getting out with my camera

20 limits are daft if on wide road and visibility you can see very far ahead no hidden dangers then no reason why it should be, i understand small section around a school, or small section through a busy high street with lots foot traffic them i agree. if you can see far ahead how fast can you stop at 20 prob in a car length if you ready to stop. like the blanket 20 in wales then i changed so up to local councils to decide and some small towns its a 50mph limit some are 30 other are 20, more north you go so more distance from leader of wales more there is don't that say something and they knew they messed up as now you can go up to 25mph 26mph you get ticket. or roads around me one i can never forget it was a trucking A road you could get 5 cars wide and still have space a 40 limit nearly fell a sleep so boring and not necessary but the funny thing is just before a town with a proper high street limit went up to 50mph limits backwards that why i say lot limits are not for safety they to get you a ticket because the limit not appropriate for the road they put it low because on such a wide road far to easy to go over cause it feels walking pace. one thing i realized since the 20 in wales many more dangerous overtakes or trucks less foot of your bumper and as limit daft in so many places and some go on for ever so many people ignore them but prob would not if it was correct limit for that road 30/40 so these people now ignore 20 and ignore old limit of 30 ive seen it and its common. ive never been passed in 30 in small village because limit did not last long but now 20 then 40 way out of the village people overtake in much more dangerous places now what never happened to me before insane nanny limits what not suitable for road. i agree there is places for 20 but in places like near schools or busy high streets lot foot traffic then that good not wide road you can clearly see for half mile ahead
