It didn't just 'balance itself out' in France. The people of France came together, organized and voted tactically to keep the far-right out of government. Just like many people organized and voted tactically in the UK to unseat the right-wing Tory government.
Sorry, 14 years of Tory disaster did it to themselves. Brexit, party gate; Liz Truss' disastrous minubudget, bungled covid response.......No tactical voting needed there. They lost by a landslide.
That's what they don't mention. You see people say oh the left there won so democrats will be fine that's not true. The system there is way different than the system here.
@@BassRck50-xv8izProject 2025 should be the headline from coast to coast, as well as the Epstein grand jury documents and the debate fact check. Having saidthat, Trump'slies are Trump'spsychological coping mechanism of his fall into dementia. Anyone who's watched a few Trump rallies knows: Trump stalls then changes subjects and lies. It's pathetic. ,
I'm British and it's probably a good thing these ladies didn't actually stick to the topic. Last time they talked about our elections they didn't have a clue what they were talking about.
The people of France and the UK voted against the rise of fascism. Something that _should_ have been talked about in this segment and how the people of the US should do the same. Because our institutions are falling to fascism quickly.
What the British and the French elections showed is that, firstly, the people are perfectly capable of understanding the stakes of elections. Even though, I am uncertain that the American people are. Secondly, it shows that the polling companies wildly overestimated the support for right-wing authoritarians. Just like the US polling companies wildly overestimated the popularity of MAGA during the 2022 midterms. And I also believe that the same phenomenon is occuring with the 2024 election right now. Donald Trump lost a solid 15% of Republican primary voters, but somehow he's on track to win the presidency in a landslide. I don't buy it at all! Everyone should forget about the polls, and go out and vote blue up and down the ticket 🔵🔵🔵🔵🔵.
I disagree. In the case of the UK, the polls where pretty accurate. Everyone was expecting that the Labor party was going to win in a landslide, and they did. About France, it was more of a mixed bag, yes, but if you followed the first round closely, the polls were frightening accurate, almost within 1-2 percentage points. Then, something happened in the second round.
Actually the UK polls were pretty accurate and there was sadly a large vote share for the far right Reform party. Just not enough in most seats to win a majority. Tactical voting and people actively voting against the Tories rather than for their specific party helped too. Lesson the Dems should take is to get people out to vote. The Lib Dem’s and Labour in particular were very targeted with their campaigning to focus on seats they could win and needed to.
You know what's becoming clear to me? That the right get all the airtime, are full of windbags who bleat and moan endlessly and *very* loudly. That's why the _perception_ is that the Left/Labour/Dems are on the losing side. You have Murdoch media and press promoting their agenda constantly, but maybe there is a silent majority who are sane and not as easily swayed by far right propaganda as we might think.
NATO is all part of the world stage. It is Trump who wants to appease Putin and destroy NATO where as Biden has encouraged MORE countries to join NATO. An ALLIANCE with allies helps all countries stay safer including the USA.

I’m Belgian. I wasn’t surprised that Whoopi couldn’t really explain what happened in France and the UK, but I’d kind of hoped Ana or Sunny would, because they tend to be well-informed on these things. This, though, was ridiculous. What happened in France, is very different from what happened in the UK. The systems are so different, too, it’s hard to compare the elections. They’ve both shown that the Left can defeat the far-right, but with very different numbers and iutcomes in both countries. I sincerely hope Labour can fix the incredible mess the UK is in, because they’re in a far worse situation than France, and it’s unlikely Brexit can be undone.
I feel like Whoopi and Ana at this point. Joe is who we got and we’re tired of hearing about the age and how slow he is. That’s what he has congress and advisors.
@@Love-dv6ml and we are tired of Joe Biden. We need a candidate that isn’t senile. We keep pretending that he’s not but he is and he will lose. Pick someone that isn’t going through dementia.
Whoopi can be quite dismissive if she doesn't like what she is hearing. As the moderator, she cannot control the opinions of others. It's the View. Lol
Yes! I actually had to fast forward through her. I am so tired of the media creating its own story, but was a bit surprised Sarah fell into that category.

I am a French voter and we were very clear about one thing: protecting the republian value "égalité, laïcité, fraternité ".. unlike the Americans, who do not seem to get what is at stake.. listen to Alyssa and Sarah, they have no clue... they still do not know whether to choose a person who protects democratic institutions /values or one who destroys.. that is the difference between American and French voters.. Like Sarah and Alyssa, the Americans just don't get it.. it is sad really..😮
Alyssa and Sara do not want to blame the republican voters for choosing Trump as tge candidate. They don't want to admit that these swing voters dom't want VP Harris as the step in for Biden.
Good luck to all you people in France who voted for the far left government. When they start letting more migrants from third world countries into France you will have no one to blame but yourselves for destroying the country.🤦♀🤦♀
The US economy is moving in the right direction. Lowest unemployment in 50 years, dollar at a 50 year high, infrastructure plan moving ahead, and a good team supporting Biden.
@@aus.0608 You're kidding, right? Billions of Federal money from the bill has been doled out to every state already. 56k specific projects have been rewarded. It takes a while for the process to go through and construction started.
Common Sarah, are you the same you were 4 years ago, I certainly am not. We, including Pres Biden, are 4 frigging years older. The guy is working is tushy off to do right by us all. He is not sitting in the White House eating hamburgers and throwing ketchup bottles!!
No he is sitting in the White House sleeping! Bedtime is 8pm. If anything important happens at 8:01 pm you’ll have to wait until the next morning to have him act on it.
I love this show. Watch clips of it daily. And their insights and analyses of what's going on in the US to me at any rate is always spot on. But their knowledge of what goes on outside of their hometurf is lacking. Whoopi's analysis of what took place in France yesterday was lacking in significant detail and accuracy and it was clear there was also a lack of understanding of what took place in the UK. And it's not just 'Paris' and 'London" where elections took place - it was France and the whole of the UK. Little detail and at the end of the day, we all knew what Whoopi meant - but it sounds ignorant.
As for you Alissa, this guy has not bloody time for press conferences every day like trump used to do. Thats why he has a press Secretary. Be for real girl! His work answers all the questions!
In All honesty, the Democratic Party can be their own worst enemy. Diversity in thoughts and opinions is a beautiful concept, but failing to rally, fully support, and fall in line is a significant area for improvement. To the credit of the Republican Party, they know how to hold the fort down and support their leadership, both rank and file. For example, if Former President Donald Trump had passed out during the debate, there would have been no one in the Republican Party asking him to step down because they recognized he was their strongest candidate. On the other hand, in the Democratic Party, there is a lot of noise about their elected candidate, President Joe Biden. Yes, President Biden had an awful debate for whatever reason, but calling for him to step down is highly unwarranted and unwise. In examining potential Democratic Party front runners, who are qualified to replace him? I keep hearing talks about Governors Gavin Newsome (CA) and Gretchen Whitmore (MI), but they need national recognition or experience. They may be prevalent in their home states but have yet to be tested nationally. Given the stakes of this election, it is unlikely they will be a force against Former President Trump. Additionally, media outlets like CNN say House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries would be a good choice again. He does not have the experience or national recognition and is still getting his footing in his current leadership role. Lastly, there are news media outlets (not the people) pushing for Vice President Kamala Harris to be the presidential candidate. Still, I strongly dissent, given her record and historically low approval ratings. Vice President Harris has not been able to accomplish anything noteworthy since being in office. Sidebar: I understand Vice Presidents are like spears until something happens to a sitting President. However, she was given tasks like managing and co-coordinating immigration issues at the U.S. Southern Border and has fumbled. Given the Republican Party takes most of the blame for their failure to pass the bi-partisan immigration reform bill (at the behest of Donald Trump). As a Black/African American, it pains me to say that Kamala Harris also faces significant challenges as a mixed-race person. We recognize that racism is alive and well in the United States, including the Democratic Party, as well. Along with being a person of color, she is a woman running for office in a highly contested election; given the historic precedence with women like Shirley Chislom and Hilary Clinton, we are in a more divisive and radical climate. Let’s stick by President Biden he is the face of the presidency but there is an entire administration along side him doing to the work of the American people. We have protections in place and he follows the rule of law and listens to the advisors and established professionals including military leadership. We have not never heard him arguing, disagreeing and trying to undermine our institutions like Former President Donald Trump.
You can't criticize the gop to be a cult and say that we have to do like them getting behind the candidate no matter what. He should step down, people say he won the primaries no wrong the primaries were shut down, there were no debates and there were no room for people like RFK or Dean Phillips to make their case
@@vannickyakam204…do you hear yourself??? RFK and Philips are conservative plants!!! You clearly do not understand that THIS election is not a normal election. But she’s absolutely correct along with Sara. We are trying to sway the undecided voters and white frankly those voters will go straight to Trump because they see the incompetence of Joe Biden and will judge his performance……
You're absolutely right. She couldn't wait to talk bad about Biden. She might have left the Trump administration, but what she did do was fill her pockets and got a job on View. She is a subtle Megan Mccain , more dangerous.

This segment wasn't about international elections. It was about whether the recent international elections affect the US, and the panel agreed that they do not. Pay attention.
@@jordanalbertson1421 Sunny also agreed that Biden is not the one we should be running, but she also doesn't believe the country will vote for Harris. She has also pointed out before that if they replace Harris and pass her over, it will turn off a large percentage of black voters.

Oh my Goodness. At a time like this can we not have more time for hot-topics and less guests on The View? I genuinely don't care about who's got what movie out, or who has a book to promote. What's going on in the world right now is really interesting and I wish the women had more of an opportunity to discuss these issues at length.
She sounds like she’s saying random things, the same “opinionated” whoopi who suggested that Dr Jill Biden should be appointed surgeon general. Clearly has no idea what she’s talking about.
The UK election is far more complicated than it looks from outside. Far fewer people voted for the Labour party than did seven years ago (9 million vs 13 million in 2017) they are viewed as being part of a 'uniparty' with the Conservatives, who have swung sharply left wing from their old form before their election in 2010. This time vast numbers of people voted for alternative parties, a look at the statistics shows all kinds of records broken of lack of support for the two main parties. Sadly our election system cannot reflect this, and you end up with things like a Reform party MP representing almost a million votes for the party whereas a Labour party MP represents 23,000 votes. A lot of people know that there will be five years of hardship and chaos ahead of us, but it is the only way to dismantle the existing corrupt two parties in the long run.
There is no chance he will be allowed to run. His voters have lost confidence. If democrats changed leader it would be sn almost guarenteed win. At the moment Biden is likely to lose as people dont think hes competent.
When has a president under 40% approval ever win re-election. Outside the age debate. I must ask do you guys even see the polls. Our best chance is replacing him
No trump was elected in fair and open primaries. Biden was elected in rigged primaries, there were no debates organised bby the dnc, they obstructed candidates to get on the ballots. If he had won in a fair and squarre manner i would say this debate has no place but that wasn't the case so he has to step down
It definitely is Biden vs the couch. Unlike 2020 where there were a lot of mail in ballots due to being the height of Covid, that will not be the case this year. And Biden isn’t convincing anyone currently on the fence to get out and go vote for him even if they don’t like Trump. The idea of the Never-Trump voters is not enough to keep Trump out when the alternative doesn’t inspire people to run out and support him.

@@The_king567 Only a very stupid person thinks like this. But you are an American, so there's no surprise there. This was about your economy. While your currency is still the most widely used, a weak currency means your importers are struggling. As a Brit have a love of America and its people. Proud to have some very close American Friends. This is an American Show and was disappointed the discussion was quickly focused on the President. Never under estimate the French. Classic tactical voting to keep out the far right! The British election showed significant tactical voting. We even saw strong l independent voting. It’s fair to say the Conservatives lost the election rather than anyone else winning. Reform splitting the Conservative vote. Ultimately The British vote for the middle ground. Who captures that wins. A little over simplified. One issue is that in the U.K. it has become a presidential style campaign. We vote for parties not leaders

Umm being from London and a politics grad it would serve the panel well if they had some who has knowledge of global politics cause they described both the French and UK election wrong.
Hey Whoopi, He had time to spend a week hiding out (preparing) for a debate that he totally messed up? He's not all that busy, except between 10 am and 4 pm.
I wish they had really stayed on topic and really discussed the elections in depth that just happened in the U.K and France and thought they would discuss the difference in their elections. They had a part 1 and 2 already on Biden.
Confidence to the point of arrogance, without any intelligence or knowledge … thy name is Whoopi. But I have to say it’s very entertaining. The shock value is off the scale.
"Marjorie Taylor Greene compares Biden to FDR, LBJ. Thanks for the free campaign ad! The predominantly ludicrous lawmaker from Georgia did Biden an unexpected - and surely unplanned - solid this weekend in a speech at the conservative Turning Point Action conference in Florida, telling Republicans the Democratic president is attempting to make people’s lives better. She compared Biden’s "Build Back Better" plan to President Lyndon B. Johnson’s "Great Society," an array of programs from the mid-1960s aimed at combating poverty in America. Those programs included Medicare, Medicaid and food stamps, along with the 1964 Civil Rights Act. As Greene talked about President Johnson, she said, dismissively: “His BIG socialist programs were the Great Society ... big government programs to address education, medical care, urban problems, rural poverty, transportation, Medicare, Medicaid, food stamps and welfare.” Greene continued making the case for Biden’s reelection: “Now LBJ had the Great Society, but Joe Biden had Build Back Better, and he still is working on it, the largest public investment in social infrastructure and environmental programs that is actually finishing what FDR started, that LBJ expanded on, and Joe Biden is attempting to complete.” As if connecting Biden to popular social programs wasn’t enough, Greene took the high praise a step further by looping in President Franklin D. Roosevelt, one of the most popular presidents in American history. Greene’s attempt to raise Biden’s profile to that of FDR and the president who launched a war on poverty and created Medicare was clearly appreciated. On Monday morning, the official White House Twitter account retweeted the video of Greene's speech, adding: "Caught us. President Biden is working to make life easier for hardworking families."
