Will Funimation Crunchyroll merge be canceled by US Justice?

日本からはアメリカの自国企業優遇のための妨害だと思われてますね。 そもそもSONYが日本企業といえるかは置いといても、NetflixやAmazonも配信サービスでアニメ扱ってるのに、買収で市場が独占されるってのは無理があるような。 版権の取り扱いや違法視聴の件もあってアメリカに対しての印象もあまり良くないし、逆に日本企業が中国市場重視により傾斜するだけのような気がします。 英語圏の方が気分を害したら申し訳ないです。

Let me say this short. Will Sony have monopoly in the US market? Yes and no. With both Funimation and Crunchyroll it sounds on paper it's monopoly. But Sony has not locked their own Aniplex content from other content providers. So this whole anti-agenda by youtubers is fake outrage. Sony doesn't care about locking content from others. They simulcast their content on Hulu while it's on Funimation in the US. Netflix's policy is to have full season outside of Japan. Netflix locks content to their streaming platform under Netflix Originals. Whether it's adaptations or original works. When the season is done Sony dub the season and release on BD/DVD. Then they release on Netflix. If Sony get Crunchyroll acquisition completed this will go away and Sony can dub the anime during simulcast period than wait until after season like what happened to Kimetsu no Yaiba when it was on Crunchyroll for simulcast in 2019. Funimation Global Group dubbed it in 2020. What Sony's ultimate goal with Crunchyroll acquisition is to reach out the anime to wider audience that can eventually become a media franchise like Kimetsu no Yaiba. They have talked about residuals. Merchandise in form of movie adaptations, game adaptations, soundtracks and even other things. Ufotable owns cafes and cinemas. That are also residuals after they have released season on BD/DVD they have profit off. Ufotable has opened many cafes in Japan, one in South Korea (Seoul) and one in Mainland China (Shanghai) last year close to Aniplex's office. To expand cafes further globally will grow the revenues the larger. Sony is also now thinking outside of the box to expand to theme park business. This can also become a reality for their media franchise vision globally in the future to respond to Nintendo's world in the Universal's theme parks. Imagine a Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba theme park.
