If this were IRL, and I were the dad, I'd be buying my kid Ice Cream and Pizza for a week as a sorry for being so mean. I'd hope the kid would understand what I was doing too but... I'd still feel bad
@Julia-lk8jn
@Julia-lk8jn 6 месяцев назад
Yep, I probably would have felt horrible, too. But in a way, that's Will Graham: there's one chance to save his son, and that's to tear into him, then get into a fight with a crazed killer who outweighs him by a bunch of muscle, and finally get into a blind shoot-out. Whatever it takes. Given how quickly Josh works with him afterwards, I like to think that he did understand.
@GuinessHangover
@GuinessHangover 2 месяца назад
This demonstrates the skill of the writers, because they WANT you to feel bad for both of them. As a viewer, they put you into the shoes of a father who will do whatever it takes to save his son. You don't see evocative and thought-provoking writing like this in films anymore...

As many times that I've seen this movie, I never noticed that t he gun he got from the safe was a 5 or 6 shot revolver. However, after their shootout,, & he asks her to shot him, she picks up his semi-auto and put rounds in the bad guy..

I might be wrong but when he jumps on ground to look under door and down the hallway it looks like he has both a revolver in one hand and another handgun in the other. I’ve only seen this clip never the full movie so I might be wrong

He picks it up at 3:05, and you can see it when he hushes the kid.

You can see the semi-auto handgun more clearly at 3:19. The revolver is in his right hand and the semi-auto is in front of his face with his left hand holding onto it loosely.

Dollarhyde never left his house after setting it aflame - this last act of violence had the Dragon at the helm for sure. All the more ironic that, despite its confidence in its own inhuman superiority, it proved susceptible to the very insults and abuse that'd shaped Dollarhyde's youth (likely the time he felt the most useless and hideous as a person, perhaps motivating his journey to become 'the Dragon').

The stuff with his "girlfriend" felt like filler. In the end Will was the main event character. The woman was kinda boring...like following Patzi around in Hannibal before he got killed. Just a lot if filler, I guess I have the book author to blame.

They should make a sequel where the kid grows up to be a serial killer, and he’s all traumatized by his dad screaming all that stuff at him.

It definitely ends on a darker tone. Will never utilizes the psychological abuse on Francis like he does here and merely gets stabbed in the face. He’s also left psychologically damaged beyond repair and becomes a deadbeat drunk after Molly leaves him.

the books ending is literally the worst part about it. Having Graham be able to know when he can empathize and when he needs to let the person go, as well a being able to readjust is the east part of his character the books ending is a downer, where trauma ends up consuming everything and doomer pills, whereas here they at least show that the characters are stronger than the trauma Graham reading lecters note about how pathetic society is for either not using him or just killing him and then throwing it away, showing how he views Lecter as full of BS is great.
