After discovering your channel I’ve been binge watching it and your videos have really improved so much … these older ones were good but your latest ones have evolved a more engaging style and are full of fun and personality. Well done on making these changes, I’m sure you are going to continue to see a big growth in subscribers in return 👍
Seem to be watching your video trilogy backwards, how far you have come in 2 years well done :) I have never done any physical electronics but after watching your Coffee maker one i am tempted to click on your affiliate and get the multi meter but am scared I may never use it :(
When the game is switched on and left in demo, it eventually reaches a point where the ship passes through an area where it makes a bzz bzz bzz bzz sound - my guess is that this is how the seller was able to say that the sound worked. I had one of these as a youngster and the up/down stick didn't work very well, my folks bought it from a shop that did a lot of excess stock and probably returns from one of the big catalogue shops back in the day. Still a fun game though.
Same. but mine was the red one from Hales, named "Astro Blaster". Exact same otherwise. That chip tune at the start of the game brought back memories! Wish I still had it too, especially after seeing what they go for on ebay.
You probably worked thus out but the reason you "died" was because you ran out of fuel. There is a gauge on the right and to refuel you had to bomb those little objects that don't take flight. Hopefully I have opened this machine up to even more hours of fun...
Hello, I bought a Tomy Alien Chase tabletop electronic game, the batteries were left too long inside so they had leaked and one even exploded ! long story short I was able to make it work again except for the VFD screen which does not display anything :( I cleaned as I could the contacts between the board and the screen, I have not figured out how to fully open the game without breaking it apart so I can't access the board as I would like to ... I have noticed a sort of black stain in one corner of the VFD screen so I dont know it something leaked and the screen is fucked up or if I just need to clean better the contacts between the boad and the screen : any clues ? thanx a lot & best regards.
Hi Maurice! Awesome, I love the Alien Chase game, that's the double sided 2 player one isn't it? If so, do both screens not work or just the player 1 side? If only one screen, then I would expect that the black marks are corrosion of some description, and they could be causing a short which means the display won't fire up. If both screens are off, then it is likely an issue on the motherboard. You really need to open it up and get down to board level if you can to look for more corrosion and possible bad solder joints! 👍 Good luck, hope you find something.
@@StezStixFix yes it's the double side 2 player game ;) both screens don't work and I know now a little bit more how a VFD screen works so I'm going to fully open this little fella in order to access all the board ...
I don't have that much experience with British people but you say switch it on because you've obviously slid a switch, but does that mean you say pull cord it on when you start your lawn mower, key it on when you start your vehicle or knob it on when you start a gas stove? Just trying to understand your culture.
bit odd as Scramble you could move horizontal as well as vertical, which would explain the 4 touch pads but why did Tomy not actually use the horizontal pads?
@@dr2stroke611 Because it's a VFD. They couldn't fit the pattern for the ship and the pattern for the rockets/fuel tanks into the same cell. Have a look and you'll see that the fuel tanks are a combination of the missile and the red tank pattern.
