@@Kevin24Seven .... Obviously I'm late to this party.....I really think what you ran into is the hmmwv version of the " tacti cool " crowd. I've been restoring cars most my life, 16 is when I started. My hmmwv is soon to be delivered, and I have no fear....I also have a long career in long range competition shooting, starting when I was a young Marine. I can't tell you how many times some jackass tried to correct me about the subject but was clearly talking like a man with a paper asshole sitting on a blow torch! I can't begin to tell you how many youtube experts that are out there, they watch a few videos and suddenly they're subject material experts.... Don't let the clowns get you down, they're just some useless human debris living in mommies basement, with no real world experience........keep your powder dry! FYI....I did order a custom spare cover. It says..." silly boys ! jeeps are for girls!" Lol! that should raise some eyebrows!!! Be good young man!
I am sorry to hear that the community was so bad to you. As a Humvee owner, I would often watch your videos and found them informative and entertaining. We are not all toxic but there are many that have something to prove to themselves for sure. I like the new Jeep setup as well and will continue to watch your content.
Wow unreal that there were toxic people like that. As a veteran my hat off to you for getting a Humvee and fixing it up for what you wanted to use it for. 👍💪🤙. The good thing out of that is good or bad comments/ likes dislikes, tells the algorithm to send your videos out to more people 😀 Binge watching looking forward to seeing more. Either way Adventure bikes, jeeps, Humvees, M1098s?, maybe even Adventure biking with a Skuddle and Overlanding trailer. 😉👍🤙
You could actually have a humvee with all the extra's in it, sound dampening, AC/Heat nice sound systems, heated/cooled seats that are comfortable (like a regular vehicle) it's just going to be really expensive. Of course you could always add those things to yours for a price, but it would be cheaper to do it all yourself. I've been toying with getting one of these (been watching the auctions at gov planet) and fixing it up. But I don't have a shop, or even a garage where I could do all the work, so I've held off. Love how yours looks, turned out really good.
As someone who is currently looking into buying a humvee, I really appreciate your content. It's great to see honest opinions and thoughts from different people who have or currently own one. People generally suck, so don't let the haters get under your skin.
dude, I am from IRAQ. Soooo into humvee's since I was in Iraq. I bought a humvee and working on it and yes, Humvee community people were sooooo mean to me when I did a meetup with them. I felt like I stole something from them by buying a Humvee with my own money. I didn't see the kind welcoming when they knew I was from Iraq. Yes, I live in TN as well lol. but still have my humvee and i'm enjoying it so much and saving money to buy a 2nd one. I am happy to see a video talking truly about the Humvee community and truly speaking about it. Thank you for this video dude.
Thanks Murtadha! I think you will find that the best people to show your Humvee are just everyday normal people that you meet while driving it around. At least that's how it was for me. It's absolutely ridiculous that anyone from that meetup treated you badly because you came from Iraq, but a lot of these guys unfortunately like to pretend that owning a Humvee makes them some kind of domestic soldier and I guess they didn't want a middle easterner to be a part of their club. Clearly you are an American just like they are, doesn't matter if you are first generation from Iraq or 4th generation from Germany, we all need to treat each other with respect! Don't let them bring you down man and I hope you enjoy your Humvee(s)!!
As a Combat Veteran and former Infantrymen, all I can tell you is to keep doing what you're doing. I love Humvees. I know what they are and I know what they're capable of. If you buy one, it's yours! Do whatever you want with it! Keep up the great work, man. I love your videos.
I’ve owned my Humvee since the first auction..2000/02…..22yrs this past October. I’m seeing that same thing with some of the new owners. But most aren’t military vehicle collectors either. At 65 yrs old and a Marine vet I enjoy talking “shop” with any owner.
Subscribed as my vote for you to get another one. I really enjoyed watching a lot of your videos and would do so again if you got another. Sorry you had to deal with the haters. Don't let them deter you from another awesome project in the future.
One of my best friends is hitting near 100k on his channel, I've seen him struggle with hate comments etc but he learned how to push them away, not even acknowledge them most of the time. I just discovered your channel. I'm a fan. Hope it works out!
I got to drive one for 4 years in the Marines. The only problem I ever had with HMMWVs were they are easy to high center, and Boots run them in the ground! I'm not kidding. My job in the Corps was that of a 3536, basically I drove tow trucks. I have seen them anywhere from between buried in a tank rut so just the roof was showing, too trees shoved through the floor boards. Boots are hell on them because they are trying to make them do things they can't do, and don't have to pay to repair them. Well they think if I break it doing this I won't have to pay cash to fix this, but Staff Sergeant is going to kill me lol.
Life is about enjoying your passion! Your Humvee was so awesome and what you did to it was really cool! Ignore and block the negative people! Surround yourself with positive People! If I ever move out of California, I will get me a Himvee and customize it to my liking. I am in my 50s And I learned to just follow what makes me happy! I have blocked and ignored so many negative people that I lost count! You have a nice channel, follow your passions 😉👍
Hi I used to have a 1999 H1 (AM General Hummer before GM bought it). It was the HMCS - the wagon version. I owned it for 5 years, went on outings with the folks from the Hummer club and generally had a great time, but with time I sort of moved on mentally from owning the Hummer. They're nice and all but to be honest I am pretty darn happy with owning a nice Jeep Wrangler rubicon these days. I've thought of buying a HMMWV a few times as a second offroad vehicle but every time I had enough money to justify I found myself wandering away and buying something else such as a corvette, viper, etc. The problem with H1s today is that they are all just collectors items. They've been out of production since 2006. Anyone who owns one today and wheels the crap out of it is essentially destroying it's future resale value. I mean it's up to the person who does it but paying out that much money for an H1 for little future value seems kind of dumb. It's a shame that we can't have them anymore. I personally never had any problems with the Hummer community, but your mileage was different. Best of luck with your Jeep!
You are a good dude! I commend you for your restraint about the haters. I also appreciate all the information you put out there and told it like it is. I’ve given it some consideration getting one myself and the haters can pound sand for all I care. I don’t have a you tube Chanel.
Thanks man!! You will really enjoy your Humvee, they are a lot of fun. These days I try my best to put my time into talking with awesome supporters like yourself rather than wasting another second on the triggered folks.
This is interesting, I purchased a '95 Lamborghini Diablo as a rolling chassis. Installed a LS3 with porsche G50 transaxle, took me 8 years to restore. I experienced probably more love than what the enthusist had to say. Overall, the build made the car better than stock for many obvious reasons. You can search Diablo with LS3, people will always have their opinions likable or not. I'll purchase my second humvee soon as I thought the first one was way to impractical and sold it, but I'm getting the bug to try again. Thanks for your videos.
I am in that late fifties Humvee owner and I had nothing but respect for you and your channel. I'm sorry you had to be on the receiving side of that hate.
Thanks Warhammer, I've met many great Humvee people like you because of my RU-vid and through owning a Humvee. Ultimately the 10% or so of bad eggs were not the reason I sold it.... but not having to wake up every morning and read 1000 word dissertations about how stupid and pathetic I am for accidentally calling a Nartron box a KDS box is honestly very refreshing. In due time I may get another, but it will not be the sole focus of my channel.

Hey Steve, thanks for the words of encouragement :) I actually already have purchased another and made some initial videos on it while I wait for my EUC to clear, feel free to check them out!
Sorry to hear you got rid of the humvee. Mine humvee is a bit of a nuisance at times, but still worth it I think. Will still stay subscribed and look forward to more cool content.
You will, at some point, I hope. I bought my Hmmwv this year because I've always wanted one. Plus they can be registered here in NJ. Cheaper than a side by side, witch can't be registered for driving the pine lands. Why would an owner of a perticular brand of 4x4 knock a other. All my buddy's own jeeps. Would and have never gave any one b/s. 🍻🇺🇸
Get anotherone....... I just found your channel lol .. I'm going to pick one up Thursday , anyways appreciate your videos man . I have had plenty of jeeps and want something different.
There's aton of people who buy humvees and want them to remain in service order. Camo paint, original seating and doors and the mantra of military items. They comment on any one deserting that moto. It's not you, it's just them stuck in a certain mind frame. You did a great job on yours. I enjoyed your videos. I have 2 that run great and are just toys. I've left them in a state of military mos, but only because I like it. I would like to get another one and keep it a 2 door soft top and paint red and switch the tires and use it as a daily. I dont drive far from home mostly. Anyway, dont let a few dingbat get ya down. You have done a great job on your videos. I'll keep watching without the humvee
Thanks man and that's a very good point. There is a certain appeal of the rugged feel of a military vehicle I think for both civilians (like me) who never got to experience it as well as veterans who have become familiar with the vehicle and like to relive the experience of driving one (although many veterans I talk to absolutely hate Humvees). For me I have always been a car/motorcycle guy. I like history and military history in particular, but I am not very interested in military vehicles and never have been. The Humvee was a chance for me to own an H1 without paying H1 prices and I enjoyed it a ton.
@@Kevin24Seven ya, and you did a great job on that thing. I liked how you had it set up. They are money pits. There fun, but every thing you do costs a ton of money. I finally just had to stop doing things to them. I'll never get my money out of them. But mine are toys. I like to go play on them. People love seeing them driving down the road. You get lots of thumbs ups tgats for sure
@@user-bd5md5cm2j They definitely turn heads! Mine seemed the most interesting to people when I was running no top or doors, I got looks from everyone! After I added the doors and soft top a lot of people actually asked me about my "Jeep" and overall seemed less interested. Funny how the average person reacts to different things.
Personally this is not the approach I would take because sellers tend to apply a $5000 - $10,000 markup just for making their Humvee street legal. While this process is tedious and time consuming, its not very expensive, probably well under $2000 in most cases. Even non street legal Humvees are often marked up a few thousand dollars from private sellers just to capture a sales opportunity from people who are afraid of using Govplanet or don't want to bother with the EUC, arranging shipment, etc. However, I understand your point of view and pondered going that route myself initially, but ultimately came to the decision of using Govplanet since buying from a private party didn't meet my needs and make as much logical sense for me.
I understand the problematic community. I used to have a sn95ne mustang and the guys there were pretty terrible. Went over to the crown vic side (many of the same mods cross over) and it was totaly different. I also get the humvee/h1 part. I loved usin the humvee when i still wore the uniform but after 2 days straight and in the heat/cold it wasnt pleasant. While havin all the comforts of a modern vehicle would have made it nothin but a joy. I think with some frugal shopping you could convert a humvee, at least in part, for much less then you could find a decent h1.
Appreciate your understanding man. It's pretty difficult to convert one to look anything near an H1 on the inside but it has been done. I liken it to trying to do one of those Pontiac Fiero to Ferrari conversions. Maybe a handful have been done so well that people actually will think it's a Ferrari.... but 99.9% of them look terrible lol.
In Toledo where I am from, the Jeep Owner's sometimes make attempt's to look down upon me because my choice of SUV is the Toyota 4 Runner and not the Jeep! I enjoy the attention when I see a bunch of Jeep's in a small parking lot with the tires of the Jeep's stacked on each other like a deck of card's. I drive in slowly, look at them and laugh out loud as they frown at my verbal gesture's. Jeep's are nice and are like an "Artery in the body" to this City, but I love my Toyota more!!!
I agree with you, the Humvee is a very dependable vehicle. I drove humvees in the military and in war. I had no problems with my Humvees in Iraq. I’m home now and as a civilian I own one. Thank you for your comments on Humvee.
Thank you for serving our country Omar, I think that's a really unique and awesome story that you drove them while deployed and now the one you own back home.
@@Kevin24Seven My pleasure, If you ever get another one, and have any questions about it let me know, I had a H1 Hummer 2002 wagon, and two Humvees. I prefer the Humvee, less electric stuff and if you put the right seats and tires, they are fun.👍
@@Kevin24Seven the H1 Hummer, I bought it here in the States and had to sell it because I needed money after getting hurt in Iraq and had to be medically discharged. The Army is taking care of me and also VA. But for a little while I was having a hard time paying the house and my H1 payment. I made money on my H1. As you may know they go for over $80,000.00. I was able to pay off my house and was able to buy my first Humvee. First I bought the 6.2L then I got my 6.5L. I love them both. 🙏and no payments.God bless you and everyone out there that drives Humvees and Jeeps.
Kev, You putout hell of a HUMVEE build out series here on RU-vid and You have more support and respect than those critics.... BTW I bought a HUMVEE inspired on your videos... The big factor in making that decision was the things you hate...
Be neat if you used your Humvee for work - powerlines in Nevada, oil wells in Oklahoma, ranch in Wyoming. You might appreciate it as a tool instead a toy.
It just depends on what you would want to do. In most cases it would certainly be easier to leave the body on, but I have seen shops pull the body first before replacing an engine or transmission for example.
I own a 1990 M998 and served in the Marines. The HMMWV "community" probably consists of a lot of former military personnel. Sarcasm, vitriol and general harassment is part of their schtick. Not for the faint of heart. Good Luck with your future videos. 👍
Appreciate your support of the channel and more importantly your service in the Marines. I have a lot of family, friends, etc. in the armed forces and police, trust me I can appreciate a little ribbing from time to time! What I was dealing with I think could more accurately be compared to Jeremy Clarkson's experience with the Ferrari "Owners" Club and them picking him apart and hating on him for every small thing. Usually people I know who served absolutely hate Humvees and want nothing to do with them bahahah.
@@Kevin24Seven So sorry people can't be reasonable. I really appreciate the HMMWV videos from all of the youtubers, so I can understand the idiosyncrasies of the vehicle. I'm so old I rode in the old M-155 Jeep but the availability of those are few and far between so I a M998 for my 12 acre farm. I am a member of a southeast Hummer group and some can be snarky for sure, but most are helpful. Sorry you got rid of your HMMWV. Good luck. 😊
I do watch your videos and i am considering buying a humvee. I see them now being sold for around 19k and above. I live in NJ and originally from Pennsylvania and know people that have them. Always wanted one since the 80's.. i am not worried about AC just concerned about the heat functioning. Although i am a upholsterer i was considering putting a heated seat on drivers side only... something to think about. What is your opinion on that? Sound deadening material. Any ideas on sound proofing the interior? My requirements are a hardtop, hard doors and the 6.5 w/park.
Hi Mike, all very valid and good questions here. Heat- I do not have experience with the latest gen Humvees (the ones with the guppy looking grille that juts out) but my Humvee and others do not have the best heaters. The heater core is small and the blower motor is mediocre at best. Better insulation would help you stay warm vs what I had which was a soft top and no insulation. It was comfortable for highway travel down to about 30 degrees or so. Adding a heated seat- Keep in mind the Humvee uses a 24v system. The A2 gen trucks and newer should have a dual voltage alternator... so it would potentially be okay to tap off just one battery (I forget if front or rear so you will need to research) to get a 12v source that your alternator in theory should maintain a balance when it sense the one battery getting lower than the other. You could also just add a step down converter and not worry about balance issues. Sound deadening can certainly be added, and if you are an upholster then you should already know what you are doing. The Humvees usually do come with some carpeting which helps a bit. I threw mine away because it was trashed and not fun to clean but if you are not swamping it this shouldn't be an issue. I think what you come up with will probably be better than the stock carpeting regardless especially if you add dynamat or something. Roof, Hard Top, Hard Doors- These can all be bought aftermarket if you like but it is somewhat pricey and will require painting to match. If you look for OEM hard doors and top you are going to be spending a lot more. 19k sounds about right to meet your requirements OEM, but I could see it costing closer to 25k especially for a low miles/ low abuse unit. The hard top Humvees are highly desirable and you almost certainly will be competing against a lot of other bidders if buying from GovPlanet.
@@Kevin24Seven Thank you for a great response! Things to think about. The humvee i am looking at has a hard top, hard doors, matte black and it is a 92 with a 6.5ish with park.they are asking 19k and i am sure there is wiggle room. I guess my concerns are the heat and staying warm. I only have to drive 3.1 miles to work one way so MPG is not my issue. It is already titled and legal in Pennsylvania. Glad that part is done. If you have IG let me know to.. Jeep community is great in Pennsylvania! Ever hear of the company called "jeff daniels"?
@@mikeb8613 Hi Mike, I think that sounds great, I assume you meant to type A2 instead of 92? I don't think A2 trucks were being made in 1992 if so. The hard top and hard doors is a great value if those are the original military parts and I would say jump on that right away. If they are aftermarket aluminum that is still a reasonable deal if the Humvee has been gone through and made reliable. I have not heard of Jeff Daniels.
@@Kevin24Seven yes you were correct. A2. I like to say the "extended grill one" lol! The doors on this one i am talking about were in fact the X doors. But the hard top isn't. Jeff Daniels is a Custom jeep shop around where i lived in Pennsylvania. Popular place for the jeep guys around my old way. Look them up sometime. 👍
@@mikeb8613 Sounds good man, the OEM X doors are worth a good bit of money if in good condition. If you like, send me some pics of the new rig and I will shout it out on the community section of the channel.
@@Kevin24Seven 😅 But on a serious note, whether you think you are someone who is informative or not on this topic, I appreciate the content you make. To me as someone who is very knew to online vehicle auctions and to hmmwv, I think you did a great job in your videos. Don't let others get to ya. Great work and keep up the great content 👍🏻
I had an H1, wasn't much more quiet. I'm thinking about doing a humvee conversion so I can put a bunch of that sound proofing stuff in there. My civilian model also weighed 8800lb so this conversion I'm hoping to lighten it up hopefully about 3000lb, yea I guess I'll do it one more time, doing a converion this time. You did great last time but I do understand you not wanting to work on these things, I'm not looking forward to it. My main purpose doing this is that I'm not paying 70K for a truck that mostly came from China and also not dealing with a salesman to get it LOL true story, even as eccentric as that might sound
I understand everything you said here completely. Hard to beat old school trucks and the H1/Humvee is a very capable and tough vehicle. They get a bad rap but for off roading they are hard to beat.
@@Kevin24Seven agreed .. I'm going to try to make the interior pretty fancy with the soundproofing of course but I've been looking at the Rolls-Royce and the simplicity of their interior is amazing just extremely high quality stuff so I'm shooting for more of something like that the people doing the conversions seem like they're trying to hard sometimes I'll probably be driving this next one for a while so I'm going to make it as comfortable as possible think I can pull off something cool on the interior I got a machine shop so I'm going to make a lot of the gauge bezels and stuff like that if you end up doing another one I'll keep an eye out there I can send you some parts if I make anything it's as easy to make 10 of them as it is to want to make one so I can send you some extras have a great day I'll keep an eye on your RU-vid stuff
@@dannynimmo3052 awesome.man and I appreciate that! I will do another one eventually more than likely but it's going to have to be the lastest gen with AC I think.
Danny, I have own both the H1 and Humvee, the loud engine is the same on both. The H1 has all that junk between the driver and the passenger that is hard to touch hands with wife or girlfriend, plus more electronic parts to worry about. Trust me Humvees are very easy to work on. My job in the military was 11Bravo, but I worked on my Humvee before taking it to the shop. In the shop all they did was replace parts, they didn’t fix parts. If you maintain your Vehicle you will not have major issues with it. In the military we have issues with them because you have to ride in it with all your battle gear and there is not enough space, specially for the driver. I enjoy mine, just got back from the park with my grand baby and she loves it. I have a jeep bucket with 3 point seat belt for her.👍

A couple of things: 1) It's your truck. Do what you want with it, to hell with everyone else. 2) The H1 breaks much easier than the HumV. 3) The difference between a classic car restorer and a hot rodder is a hot rodder isn't afraid to cut on a car to make it better. 4) Enjoy it, it's your life not theirs.
Honestly I've never had an issue with the ride quality but I get these comments all the time from people who have/currently are serving. Mine definitely rode a lot better than my current Jeep project. That being said, off road- you MUST air down or else it will knock your fillings out.

They are proud, stuck up, and snobbish. They think we all should envy them and their ways. We do not and never will.
Linking a social media presence to a vehicle ownership seems odd,Something so trivial as anonymous chatter dictating your perspective is an interesting psychological study
I bet they knew each other and you “offended” one of them and the rest just dog piled. Trolls are like wolves. Glad they moved on when you got rid of it.
Hi Dave. Actually, that isn't what I said. My exact words were "in the winter, really decent daily I can't complain about that". That being said, I see you writing these nit picky/ passive aggressive comments on videos of mine lately and I just want you to know that genuinely, I wish you the best man and if you aren't happy in life I pray that you do end up finding some peace and happiness. I used to spend a lot of my time coming up with nasty comebacks to the type of people I begin talking about around the 5 minute mark and I realized that it wasn't doing the world any good. I guess I'm still a bit old school and I just want to share two things I was taught as a young kiddo. 1. Never, EVER, put words in another mans mouth. 2. Never be passive aggressive. Confront the person you have a problem with directly, let them know how you feel, fight it out if you both decide to, then shake hands and be done with it.
@@Dr.JustIsWrong Sure that must have been it. Not hence sitting on the floor whining how people don't like his RU-vid videos as he played with his stupid cowboy boots
