Basically an FZ-2 clone with a shitty enclosure that costs 10 times less then the actual boss pedal, thank you Behringer for thinking about us poor people
Any day is a good day for Crowbar. I say this as a former Louisiana resident of 33 years. Really nice dudes, same with the guys in Eyehategod. These days I'm located in Austin, Texas.
From Behringer's manual: "BOOST: The Level control is inactive and the Gain control adjusts the boost." - in order to use the Boost function on this pedal, you have to use the Gain knob. Maxing out the level does nothing as opposed to a common overdrive or Boost pedal. It chugged because the Dark Terror inherently chugs 😁
When will Ola create a Doom metal masterpiece? Come on Ola you know you want to make a Ufomammut-style track mixed with some heavy death doom elements and sludge like from Disma.
Trying to chug with a fuzz pedal is pretty heretical. This little bastard is an absolute steal for 20 bucks if you're aiming for that sweet fuzzy Electric Wizard sound though.
@@joshuasalgado4694 ahh this is the divide of the sub genre haha Electric Wizard Jus Oborn with the boss Hyperfuzz fz-2 (behringer sf300) and Sleep/high on fire Matt pike using big muff tones....both godfathers both kickass but slightly different🤘🤘
Yeah man! It can really hit lots of sounds when used right and that on such a little budget. Perfect for if you cant cranck the 100Watt in your Bedroom
The "secret" with fuzz pedals is in the output level of the pedal running into an amp with gain engaged. Keep the level LOW and gain up the amp to taste. I own many fuzz pedals and the Super Fuzz SF300 is amongst the best regardless of price. A secret weapon to obtain some of the heaviest of tones in the studio. It's not really for thrash or chugging, but it will crush your head.
with most fuzz pedals if you use too much clipping gain into a distorted amp it's going to sound like utter shit. I do the complete opposite, push the volume and turn the gain up just to where the clipping gain starts and no more.
Some fuzzes are happy maxed out into super clean amps. I used to run all fuzz pedals at max level into an Ampeg V4 and it worked great for like half my fuzzes. The other half liked dirty amps. The guitar and cab also made a difference too. I feel like I built my rig around fuzz back then 😂
Fuzz's really sound best when an amp just has a light/medium crunch going in the background. The amp was already chugging before the fuzz was even kicked on.
I've literally had 3 or 4 behringer pedals for over _12_ _years_ now, and they're in perfect condition. 12 years of constant use and abuse and there's mot a scratch on them. Meanwhile I've got more expensive pedals with metal casings that have failed on me and need fixing before they'll work again The behringer pedals don't need to be re-cased _HOWEVER_ if you really must do that, just get the TC Electronic version. TC Electronic own behringer, so their cheap budget line of pedals are literally the exact same circuit boards as the behringer pedals, except put inside a metal case, and then they charge you £10 more. But again, you don't actually need to do that, because the plastic cased behringer pedals are very tight in the first place
"you can buy four of them" "if you break one, throw in the new one" I think you mean run all of them at the same time. with the same settings to absolutely see yourself to the riff filled lands
On the boost setting, the gain knob controls the boost level, while the volume knob is shut off. The manual says it's intended for boosting low-output pickups at the beginning of your pedal chain. I don't think very many people use the boost setting.
in the boost mode it absolutely can compete with any old rangemaster style treble-booster or lofi-style boost out there (for a multitude of the price) and added to a distortion it turns any sound into something unique and nasty, even into hm2 chainsaw territory. Mine is absolutely a secret weapon for extreme metal tones (just like a bias-fuzz like the carcosa).
@@ithemba Actually use the boost on my Korg "volca sample" Drum machine. It gives it this nice slapping hard-hitting sound without necessarily distorting it? But gives it this in your face punch!
The boost is killer! Gnarly garagey sounds in Fuzz 1, Electric Wizard in Fuzz 2, Windhand in boost mode if you slam a Rat with it. I love the way it thickens up and adds presence to my distortion.
@@lala66681 Wow, super dark. I need a translation for the lyrics, but that video is an all too familiar scene. On one hand, I'm glad the USA doesn't have a monopoly on misery. On the other hand... I feel so sad for this world. Great song/ video, though. Thanks for sharing!
Ola: There's something about fuzz that I don't exactly understand - That's because you're death metal, Ola, it's a non-extreme metal thing for people that want to absolutely destroy their guitar signal, not get a tight high gain one. Although you'd think death metal players would get a pedal that absolutely destroys your guitar signal (cough Boss HM-2 cough).
I agree.but for the FACT that fuzz is for metal as well.only somebody who lives by other people's "rules" would think otherwise for real.im death metal and don't quite understand Ola's views on fuzz.because fuzz is very very metal.its distortion, with more distortion added...wtf is MORE metal than that?...NOTHING AT ALL,BUT...PURE NOTHING. And guess what? The best metal pedal I have found so far is the...DANELECTRO FAB TONE DISTORTION PEDAL.i know right...but this thing is completely decorated wrong and retsrdedly named...but...it...is...BRUTAL. It about blew my mind th other day when I was fucking around and fiddling with my new $15 FAB TONE I bought used and had just received. I got the strange idea to try it out after trying various other settings.to try it out with the high and Low e.q. settings all maxed out.distortion at exactly 2 o clock p.m.(where it stays) and volume at exactly 10 o clock p.m...lol.but it produces the best fucking shredding distortion I've ever heard.the cleanest musical sounding chords.u can hear each separate note within the chords.and can hear each note if cleanly picked. real fast it will kick ass.im a collector of distortions and fuzz pedals.andxthis FABTONE I got just slays th Biyang metal end even and th metal muff w top boost.those pedals don't have enough gain for me sand so neither do my many hm-2 clones an 1 real deal.but the FABTONE CAME OUT SWINGING AND IT WAS OVER...I was sold on it completely.i didn't even havta run it with any e.q. or maximizer and it's all good.THEE BEST SOUND AND TONE AND DYNAMICS out of all the pedals I own is quite an achievement and it was awesome.i use it everyday since now and am going to snatch me another one a.s.a.p. before they cost as much as gold.
It's funny - and not in a funny way - that everyone treats the german brand Behringer like if it was some chinese company making chinese, cheap knock-offs. It's also funny - and also not in a funny way - that people who criticise the plastic case probably will never use the Behringer pedals on a stage or use them to the point where they will damage the case.
That might be the first Berhinger I want to buy ! The way it degrades the signal when you let the note ring is just gorgeous - yeah, I'm a fuzz addict...
I've got some very expensive fuzz pedals, like over £200 or more. And my favourite fuzz is this one, the cheap arse behringer one. It's genuinely the closest to my ideal sound of a fuzz that I've ever found. It's just pure 60s fuzz, tearing and ripping, and perfect for big Black Sabbath riffs and power chords Definitely try it. It's so cheap that it's worth a punt anyway.
Hey I'm not a guitar player but somehow I arrived here and I have to say that you my friend are very entertaining. I watched your video and the highlight for me was when you said "if you use treble or too much treble it sounds like ass!". This is my favourite quote of the year so far. Thanks and keep chugging whatever that is?
I still have my behringer reverb machine from 2016 and it still works. Full plastic and all. Idk how anyone would break them unless they’re fat as shit.
The amp is already chugging so this is not a fair test is it? The SF is not meant to chug anyways. Great pedal regardless but it is not for chug-metal...
I love this pedal, and you can chug it with the fuzz. I usually have the level and treble dimed, bass at 9 o'clock, and gain at around 8 or 0 since there's a lot of it.
That Dark Terror sounds savage with that guitar. I've noticed those pickups have a lot of bite to them, and I really like the sound. Also this should be retitled to Will It Doom?
With my amp (Fender BJ III) and my guitars (Strat and Tele) I couldn't really get myself to like the 2 Fuzz variants but to my surprise I find myself still liking and using the pedal's Boost setting for a really decent overdriven sound that's a bit dirtier than that of my over overdrive and which reacts quite nicely to rolling up or down the guitars' volume knobs as well. And yeah: the pedal sort of feels cheap in terms of construction, but so far it hasn't been kicked off my pedal board yet as I find the sound I get from it useful after all...
|> |> |> |> |> |> |> |> |> |> |> |> |> |> |> |> |> one of the shittiest sounds If ever heard ... remembers me on the selfmade fuzz snd overdrivepedals in the early 80is ... three guys from us was in the electronic highschool and made also the keyboards by their own ... that is a typical thing where I would tell: "Eric ... is that a kind of joke or you have a temporary ear problem ... hopefully only ... Ola I keep my Behringer pedals up off the ground, safe from the cloven hooves of mayhem and destruction, @ home in the studio, hence never getting stomped on. PLASTIC? no problem. I have several Behringer dirt pedals and some boutique dirt pedals and it's all about application compare and contrast, oh before I forget , I really like your will it chug demo of the Bogner Uberschall pedal Thanks for your work. . nice guitars! I must have on soon!
Okay, before anything, it is about time that I subscribe to this awesome channel! I have come here enough and I have even used the line "Will it chug?" with my friends, so I at least owe you a sub for stealing your line! Now, I just bought this pedal for $20 bucks (American) and it did chug...well, at least $20 bucks worth of chug! Unlike you, I really love the sound of fuzz.... In the fuzz department alone, I gotta have at least ten pedals; if not more. Fuzz is a sound that takes me back to the '60s and '70s so I love truly LOVE this sound very much. Anyway, thank you for all the chugging that you do, my friend. Just to recap, I am now an official member of the "chuggers'! And, just in case you didn't know, that is what you need to call those of us who follow your channel...We're chuggers! -- You're welcome. So, next time you start a video, "Welcome, Chuggers" is the go-to phrase! Thanks again, Chugger supreme!
Try to get your hands on some of the old Peavey pedals from late 80s. Built like fn tanks. The color of this one reminded me of one of those Peavey pedals. Might have been a chorus
Also Ola, if you read this, try next time to have your amp on a slight overdrive, fuzz on mode 1, dial it pretty heavy, put your guitar on the neck pickup and play with your volume knob on the guitar!
Since the circuit is based on the Boss FZ-2, which in return is based on the Univox Superfuzz, the price is pretty much a total steal. The Univox originals cost 500€ and upwards, the Boss FZ-2 will go anywhere from 200-400€ and even modern replicas of the univox circuit like the JHS Supreme will cost you 200€. Buy this one for 25€ bucks. If you really like it and can't deal with it being plastic, just rehouse it. That will cost you 1-2h of your time and 10 bucks.
It looks exactly like a Boss DS-2. Before it was stolen in the late 90's, I owned a DF-2, my favorite Boss distortion pedal, it was Distortion and Feedback! This thing sounds nothing like them. it keeps getting worse. That is the sort of pedal your Grandma buy's you for your 15th Birthday because your mom said you wanted a distortion/fuzz pedal. lol 8:24 I sold a DOD Supra distortion pedal to a guy on purpose once!
"It really feels cheap when you... you know, work this thing, but keep in mind it's still 20 euros". This has been said about other things besides cheap fuzz pedals.
Behringer are also a good choice if you're on a budget. Picked up the wah pedal for €30 and can adjust the frequencies for both bass and guitar. They make great sounding gear for the price.
This is not a chugging pedal, its a fat doomy sludgey pedal... a Hyper Fuzz for a 10th of the price, and a hyper fuzz was a fuzzfzace on steroids, active eq so uber pwoerful eq, this pedal is meant to flab and spit
Hey Ola, something to mention is that in the boost mode the level does nothing and the gain becomes the overall volume. So you can get way more boost out of it
Ola, speaking of inexpensive pedals you need to get a Donner Giant Metal pedal. It fucking rocks and you’ll get CHUG straight away!! It’s also made of metal and NOT plastic!!🔥👊🏽🎸🔊🔊🎶
