Hello! I would check the pressure on the hydraulics. Kabota is notorious for shipping these out on the bottom end of the spec. I have all three Kabota tractors, and all three of them were set up from the factory with low hydraulic pressure.

Good morning , Mr. Morgan .. work smarter, not harder , right ? You have the right equipment for pretty much any project you might want to do, and after all the years of hard work, you can actually enjoy what you do, obviously .. I really enjoy hearing about the comments, then hear your answers ..lol.. you and the family gave a great Tuesday, as always , thank you for sharing your time with us fans 👍👍👍

Good morning Mike. My 1998 L35 TLB has a TL720 loader and can easily handle the 275 Gal totes with green hardwood packed in tight. The loader model (720) with the bucket is the rated capacity in Kg so just multiply by 2.2 to get it in lbs. 1584 for my loader. I plan to go over to the Paul Bunyan show next month, hope to see you there. The L series tractors are a very capable option, I removed a 48 in maple stump from my front yard in a reasonable time, I couldn't lift the stump but it did drag it without a struggle!

Mike. Do what's the most comfortable for you when splitting logs. There's no point in handling something heavy twice, unless you really have too. You have a system that works for you, it may be a tad slower, but being a tad slower also saves your back, so I think you've got it right.

One takeaway that I got from your video is the thought process that anyone lifting, with any piece of equipment should go through. Your explanation was succinct and spot on. I'm guessing that you have been involved in some of this process in your career working in construction.

I have an older L series Kubota with a lift capacity around 1200 lbs. I had to install a shim kit to make sure I was utilizing the max allowable hydraulic pressure recommended by Kubota... it helped a lot. I can lift 275 totes green or dry... 330's only if dry. I can only get them up about 2.5' however. I think Kioti and Mahindra are hurting Kubota because of lift capacity on similar size tractors. Looking forward to seeing you at Bunyan! - Dick
@greggb1416
@greggb1416 10 месяцев назад
Yep, if you have access to your tractors loader lift capacity, they show the measurement to be at about 24inches above the ground, (and this for almost any of the tractor’s). Did not know Kioti & Mahindra were “besting” Kubota in this area.

Same as my childhood Saturday morning Binge watching Roadrunner , Bugs , Yosemite, Flintstones, Elmer and Sky King . Beyond that , we are like minded and share matching backgrounds . Equal romance with Kubota . I was a crane operator , ( just always brought my own crane) . Ended it in the oilfield when it all went down . Over 9,000 views in. 1 hour . Kudos ! Always nicely done and pleasurable . Keep on keeping on!

My JD 3320 will lift a full (stacked) 275 tote with green wood (ash/oak). But it doesn't like it. However, I do carry it up and down a slope. I have a box grader with extra weights on the back in addition to 150lb weights on each tire. I've got a set of Bradco forks. When the wood is dry, or if it is maple/cherry, it does it just fine. But, I move about 8 baskets per year around my property. I agree that I would need a larger tractor for a larger operation/commercial. Great video!

Hello Mike, love your channel and all of the content you have. Been watching for a bit, understand what you are saying about picking up the wood rounds, even after using the Split Fire. It makes sense what you said. But if you ever get to a point where a little help is needed. Think about getting a hookaroon-pickaroon tool to help out. I saw Adam from Hometown Acres using it and got one myself. It does help. He had a video about it, which convinced me on why it would help. Just thought I would mention that to you. Again, great channel. Really enjoy watching. Take care, say hi to the family!

LA1065 ( the loader model # ) stands for 1065 kg in lift capacity. So you can actually lift over 2300 lbs with this loader. I work for a Kubota dealership, the lift capacity you were given by your salesman was incorrect. The nomenclature actually means something ! Love your vidoes :)

hi Mike, I added a set of 3 point hitch "bin forks" to my implements pile a couple of years back, I stack my (smaller Bins) loose. I love using the forks on the 3 point it feels so much more stable, and in a pinch if I need to move 2 at a time I can. I also find its much easier to grab a bin by just looking over my shoulder.

@@trophyfishn9757 That would make sense....that whole hydraulic top link setup is quite expensive though, but definitely would make the 3 point pallet forks very usable...just can't lift very high of course, but for a smaller tractor it might work well in a pinch, wouldn't care to do that all the time, but definitely something to consider....the 3 point on my tractor is rated about 200-300 pounds higher than the loader lift capacity LOL.

I am actually shocked that the tractor couldn't lift those totes.... I recently purchased a 1626 Mahindra for work on my property along with moving IBC totes of firewood around. I sometimes wondered if I made a mistake purchasing a Mahindra over the Kubota L or Lx, but this right here confirms I made the right decision for myself... My Mahindra will lift those totes with the limit being the curl function when the wood is green, dry, it has no issues at all. In fact I may put up another video about it with both the 330 gal tote and the 275 gal tote stacked TIGHT with firewood, not tossed in for people like us to help make a decision on tractor purchases. Yes I would agree that Kubota makes a better tractor then Mahindra, but when it comes to cost and function, the Mahindra, for the money was a better fit for me! Thanks Mike for the video!!

Anyway, after a thorough washing, I had good results using Meguiar's Ultimate Compound to the splatter areas. Requires another wax application afterward, but cleaned it up. Hey Mike. Been enjoying your channel since the beginning. Thanks! I know from a lot of your previous videos you’re a numbers guy. As I was watching your previous videos on the clearing project, particularly the splitter attachment for the excavator, I started to try and calculate the costs of the firewood. A lot to factor in such as fuel, saws, splitters, trailers, tractors, excavator baskets, storage bunker, delivery etc. Have you ever done a cost calculation? Love to see an honest, detailed and total inclusive cost breakdown. I only burn about a third to a half cord annually but I have to drive 250 miles to get it. Time I factor in my labor and equipment, it’s some pretty expensive firewood and everyone wants some.

Love the videos, seems like you have to explain yourself lately, just do what you do... see you at the Paul Bunyan show...

I'm sure it's probably already been mentioned..but those lift specs are typically a certain weight up to a certain height (either 50-ish inches or full height). So, you'll get a lot more lift capacity a few inches off the ground due to the way the loader geometries are typically set up. You're right in that the distance from the pin due to the forks is going to take away lift capacity versus the spec. Tractor Time with Tim has a couple of really good videos showing exactly how this works in practice on smaller tractors like the 1025R and the BX.

I’ll see ya at the Bunyan show. Your property, your show, you run it and take care of it the way you want. If others don’t like it they simply don’t have to watch. I don’t agree with everything but I don’t have to talk you that in the comments. As long as it works for you it works for me. I love your content mike!! Don’t change. I know you know this but sometimes it’s nice to hear it from others even though I’m young enough to be your son haha. 😂😂

My LX2610 will pick a full 275 gallon tote with hardwood mostly oak but it has to be dry. It will pick it up just high enough to get it on my goose neck trailer which is ruffly 4 feet high.

I had wondered if you could have pulled the dump trailer back to that clearing with the MX as it would be a lot more manageable than the pickups, but since you said the trail was too narrow that made sense.

My B2601 w/la435 will lift 1/4 cords mixed hardwood high enough to load dump trailer or set in a p/u bed. I have a small operation, so that’s what I sell my wood in, 1/4 cords.
