My '63 had a 230ci . It sounded identical to that one. Drove it from Toronto to banff, jasper ,Fort Mac, Saskatoon and back home on a 2 week " vacation" in 1980. Ran perfect for 5000 miles. What a blast.
Excellent video Penny's :) also you guys should show Casey at vechile shows if any vechiles are 6 volt positive ground with 6 volt & 12 volt hook up together and explain why 36 Volts in under hood to electrical system plus don't burn out A Generator or Alternator plus Starter or catches fire ever ! The vechile could be from 1910 to 1964 in any Ford, Mercury, Lincoln,Chevrolet, Buick , Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Chrysler, Plymouth, Dodge , Fargo, , International and any 6 volt positive ground vechile plus farm tractors to and Casey be thrilled to see I know he will! I know first time saw it in person and shocked me also when got explain surprises me how works to! But thing Casey be great mechanic assistant for job in the future guys and teach him lots too! Hope see old Pontiac in future videos to fix up and you guys planning on doing with it ! Wow! I owned one of those in 1970. A loaded 389 Catalina was one of the best highway cars I've ever drove. I did 100 MPH between Reno and Las Vegas and it was a smooth wide-trac ride. While I was working in my father's gas station, I was surprised once, finding a 283 under the hood of a Canadian model.
That had to be a beautiful car in its day. With the chev 261 I suppose it had plenty of power for a big car. The way it started it will probably move on its own power. If not let Casey claim it and let him build a rat rod and will be his first car a Rat Rod.. Just running and rough would draw a lot of attention at a show. I know I would enjoy just looking at a rare car saved from the crusher.
Electricity follows the path of least resistance.. with the cap off and the coil post deprived of the contact to the rotor button the resistance in the coil wire sky rockets.. and the spark will travel down the side of the coil tower . Looking for a new ground

Thank you guys I'm totally a Pontiac fan my first classic was a 73 Pontiac Ventura same body style as the nova ,Buick Apollo that style. I loved my Pontiac so much and miss it!!! I bought it off some kid for 300 bucks running and driving it had the straight 6 in it but dam that thing was like a go-kart it moved and turned on a dime I was 20 when I got that I felt so dam cool I would pick up my girlfriend and all her cute friends and drive them around I felt so cool with my classic car I miss it so Pontiac is near and dear to my heart!!! Thank you for this!!!!
That was one of the prettiest cars ever made. Amazing how bare bones that car is. On the 6-banger topic, my first engine was a 235. Managed to get 16.3 in the quarter in a 39 chevy. They sound badass with a split manifold and cherry bombs, small pipe. It was Moriarity with the negative waves.
I think you're thinking of Gavin xMacleod (aka Captain Stubing on The Love Boat) . He played the tank mechanic Moriarty whose negatives waves were bringing Oddball down!
@@pennyshotrodscustoms Not me im 70 and consider 4 doors as parts cars. I only bought the car because I wanted the 60 -389 engine. It will bolt to a 1956 GMC V8 truck bellhousing and was the first year to not have reverse cooling.
@@thecollectoronthecorner7061 389 are pretty rare around here pretty cool your putting in in a truck i had a 58 chevy 1/2 with a Pontiac 400 and 4 speed in it miss that truck.
I feel ya on the forest fire issue. Went through it last year in SW Washington. Smoke was brutal all summer, major losses to alot of smaller towns in Oregon.
Right now we are not going to touch it. We may try and get it to run again after we get some rain. We also have a yellow 2 door wagon that may need that windshield.
Better looking rear than an Impala if you ask me. One benefit of being a smoker back in the day, lay a chunk of ash by the terminal, the spark will disintegrate it, of course we could hear it snapping away too, so that. Even here on the coast we are almost two months without measurable rain, we are in another bubble, it is like 15degrees hotter than usual right now. Best of days to all you all !
I ran into a coil arcing to one side of the posts a lot. I finally took the points out and between the points and the part (advance plate) where it screwed down to was almost green with corrosion so I cleaned it and used some rubbing alcohol to wipe dirt and oil out of there... put the points back in and then they arced good, the coil thing quit so figure it was traveling to wherever it could find a ground. I ain't saying to use that stuff we poured into the gas to eat water up ... I just had it there and it did help to make it cleaner as it was plum nasty. Any fine carbon electricity will follow so its just a guess.... that or it needs "16" volts LOL. Since that thing is a chevy pontiac... ya I know, maybe the chevy floor pan would fit. Some old station wagon could donate its top for the patch panels as its going to need a ton of metal... is that one of those corvare dashes... pontiac didn't make one that resembled that ... that I am aware of. I used a 261 engine in a swap for a neighbors 53 belair and It did not like the old bolt pattern so that took some doing. After we african engineered all those problems we sat it in the hole for where the old 235 sat..... the oil pan wouldn't clear... so welded that up... now back into that engine hole to find out that we were going to need to cut and fit the front in it as it was too long. Now this was happening back in around 62 or so... I was a handsome young man with teeth and hair. I was just about to quit and buy the lady a car that ran but I got it running an wow.... Power out the gazingo.!!! Of course a briggs an Stratton had more horsepower than the one in the hole. What I didn't know was I went the hardest way to bolt a v8 in it as the mounts and bellhousing were the same as the v8 from the 261... go figure when young... this heat wave can quit fairly soon or we just might have some problems
Great find guys one of my favorite year of pontiacs ! The american versions would be the bonneville and catalina that came with 389's very rare cars ! You guys found one with straight six that's pretty rare ! Good looking car when it was new . Thanks for showing this one and more videos like this .
I want to let you guys know Cruisin Classics Auto Sales in Columbus Ohio they have a 61 Bonneville just like your Pontiac check it out it's so cool it's expensive though it just popped up on RU-vid today let me know if you see it
That Pontiac may be crunchy, but there are still a lot of folks that would like to bring back a two-door hardtop bubble top. How about that 1957 Chevy panel car.

I would love to have that car I had one of them back in the sixties and love that car that car is in pretty good shape can still be fixed and put back together
Not in Canada. All Canadian made Pontiacs had Chevy engines for some reason. I think in the short time we will just use what is in there, we think a 305 and put a 4 speed behind it. Maybe in the future Cory will locate a nice Pontiac engine and build it.
Stick shift bellhousings for the 55 thru 60 and 61 thru 64 pontiacs are rare as hens teeth. However the USA made GMC trucks with a V8 built from 55 thru 59 all where equipped with pontiac engines. Those truck bellhousings will accept the chevy three and 4 speeds.
