Will this 1950 ford flathead v8 truck run after 40 plus years Will it run Will it run after 40 years Will it run after 30 years Will it run after 50 years Will it run after 81 years
@@justindougherty976 I agree, he should use it for what he needs, but the reason I said what I said was that it had a hydraulic bed, I thought that was pretty cool.
I think the truck should be kept intact and all original. Definitely need to flush out the cooling system and check the ignition timing. With some hard work she will be a solid runner. That old Flathead sounds great. Hard to believe those old trucks actually run and drive. Makes me want to buy an old car and wrench on it. Keep making these interesting videos.
I have a 52 GMC 1 1/2 ton flatbed for sale if you are serious about getting an old truck to wrench on. It even comes with the stuck engine package to make it more challenging.
lmao good luck thats the problem with everyone these days they have a old vehicle that's been sitting around and no longer in the condition that even warrants being worth that price 2500 or usually whatever absurd price people are wanting and so it just sits there longer and longer rusting and falling apart more meanwhile anytime someone does ask to try and buy it they never come off that stupid absurd price that they had set when it even somewhat was in decent shape but still 25 years+ later is practically a hunk of rust on wheels they don't lower the price so it sits and rots. People are dumb and it's such a shame all of the cool old vehicles that potentially could be saved and give someone else joy and pleasure restoring to formerish glory and making use out of will never likely happen for that reason.@@jerrybrooks870
I was born in 1955 and grew up with a dad and an uncle that worked on old vehicles like this all the time. Your videos bring back great memories for me. I used to stick my hands in the oil and grease just so I could use a hand cleaner to clean them. At that time the hand cleaner was yellow and in a tall can like a tennis ball can. Thanks buddy.
I'm 70, and one of my earliest memories was that my Father owned a 48 Ford Flatbed almost identical to this one. It was grey with a stake-side flatbed that he used to haul products around on in the Newburgh, New York area, including large boxes packed with dry ice to haul Ice cream to some of the Summer Camps in the Adirondack Mountains north of New York City. I'd love to find another one like it...
Man , you are a magician. That was fantastic. Something that close to being healthy again needs to be given its chance. Still you're the boss. thanks again.
Even if you pull this trucks flathead, you should fix this truck up or sell it to someone who will, It seems like a pretty rust free, pretty straight truck for its age, with obviously a lot of life and potential still there.
I used to use that PB blaster, acetone, ATF mix on Geo Metros and Corollas to free stuck piston rings, works well. I always added a little B12 Berryman's to the mix and that would free those rings right up
We are sticking with you!!! You are doing it right. Taking the right steps. Very impressive: skill, knowledge, patience, and the love of a running engine. Really want to see more!
When i started driving in the mid 90s you could usually find me at a local junkyard looking for parts and they had a ford wrecker like this that theyd give me rides in to the top of the hill. Good ol days lol
I’m not a ford guy at all but I absolutely love seeing old trucks and tractors and combines come to life again after many years. Its so great seeing our past come to life doesn’t matter what brand or breed you like, this is cool.
HI BUDDY MY SON MAX 8 YR.S OLD LOVES YOUR VIDEOS AND YOUR FIXING UP THE TRUCKS AND GETTING THEM GOING .. YA!!P-- BLASTER BATH ,,DUST.. YOUR THE BEST... I AGREE WITH WITH MAX...
Please don't part it out!!! I have a 1952 Chevrolet 6400 dump that was in full commercial service with my company J&T Services Junk Removal until a few years ago when the dump bed quit working. Seeing that dump bed still working on your is a beautiful thing to see. That truck needs put back to work. We still have ours at our shop but too many projects ahead of it in line.
I’m addicted to your mastery of these old engines. My grandfather was a master diesel mechanic who retired from International. He never taught my dad anything and wouldn’t let him work on anything. Alas, I have very limited knowledge of this stuff but it fascinates me! Wish I knew half of what you know. I learn with every vid. Thanks for the lessons. Keep up the good work
Man when that flat head spun over and burst into life and then steadily worked its way up to tick over, could not stop smiling or hearing ace ventura scream ''its alive!!!!'' haha, love your content :D
This is the only channel I have notifications turned on for, I always look forward to new videos! Glad the Will-It-Runs are up and running again haha. Great content, and glad we all encourage you! We appreciate you man
Always looking forward to these uploads, not missing any one of em ! This Flathead V8 sounds like heaven, didnt take much to put it back on track . Great content as always
Brit here - so glad,to hear that wonderful accent….im no mechanic but love the sound of your voice and thats why I have been a subscriber for a year, just relaxin listening to ya. Cheers
I definitely fix it up and use it! Its a gem!! Check carefully for cracked block its been frozen im sure or at least old engine was looking at swelled up rad upper tank. Great video!
I would agree with some of the other posters. Leave the engine in and fix up the truck. My Dad had a '49 Ford pick-up when I was boy and I used to drive it around the fields. Seeing the front of your truck reminded me of those days and for that I thank you.
I always enjoy when old vehicles run with their original equipment. I drive a 1923 model T Ford as my daily driver with all original equipment and 6 volt system. It is remarkable how reliable an old car can be if you go through everything carefully. Your southern accent is great. We yankees are always amazed to hear a real drawl.
I really enjoyed this one. I am building a 49 F1 from scrap parts for my kid to drive to school. I know most will hate this but it's being built on a 2002 S10 ZR2 Frame maintaining the airbags, ABS and other modern stuff. Keeping the kid safe while looking cool.
Thanks for doing this, watched most of your videos. It's so satisfying to hear them come back to life. Learned alot about engines and what's possible too.
My Grandaddy had this same truck! It did not have the dump bed and the bed looked a little narrower than this one! I’m going to find his truck one day I hope to rebuild and to keep!
Looking forward to the weekly videos. Your will it run videos are the only ones I watch because there is no BS in the videos. It's straight to the point. Everyone else who does these will it run videos makes them 2 hours long and they talk waaaay too much.
