You may have to reset the timing, my dad used a timing gun. He also made his own gaskets for his race car. He was the Chief Mechanic at a Auto Sales and Mechanic Shop in Albuquerque NM. He held that position for many years.🙌🌹
Re spare parts after reassembling an engine: years ago, a friend who worked on cars with her brother, said that factories put in extra parts, so don't be surprised when you have some.😄😄
The mutt is sounding good. Get the brakes up to pat and you will be good to go. You will be going down the road with the wind in your face. Love how you make the best of everything at the moment. You are the man.
Unbelievable!!! How can you find these beat up old pieces of history that have been rusting in a field somewhere and they still run!!?? Unbelievable!!! 😂
This is the kind of stuff that happens when a "Recovering VW Mech" is left to his own demise. Robert, that unknown vacuum was the "Anti Self Destruct Controller Tube", or maybe the "Anti Rust Controller Tube". Either way as you can see it hasn't been hooked up for some time.
Robert, Great that you have the Mutt running again, nice to see the property and back pasture. really have to get some sort of running tractor so you can once again start bush hogging your property. look forward to future videos, and thank you for sharing, as I go out to now mow and trim up our quarter acre here..at leat the temps up here after the rain is down to 77 today:-)
My Dad worked at Holley carb for more than thirty years. He once took a throttle plate and stamped my name on it, and punched a hole in it. I made it wearable with a length of embroidery thread. I cherish my carburetor necklace! We always enjoy your optimism and humor. Love the channel and hope we get a critter update soon!
"The fascination of what's difficult has me in it's spell." Oh this is fun, fun, fun, isn't it Robert! Congratulations. Look out trees. Robert's on the loose. Hi there, Deuce. Good to see you. Hi there, back paddock. Haven't seen you in a while.
Well done. Having tried to put back together a carb for a 1955 AJS 500 V twin motorcycle. I understand the problems with different carburetors. Oh and this was also in the early 1970’s. Have fun.
You are also missing a bracket that goes over the bottom mounting stud, this is where the throttle return spring attaches, looks like the spring is missing as well, these parts are easily found on ebay.
Next money project , new exhaust valves and seats for Ford tractor !! Unleaded gas will burn the crap out of old style valves !! Working bush hog then !!
It’s not a Jeep it’s a Mutt. Also it’s lefty losey, righty tighty. My son taught me that. I’m sure you knew which way it went. I’m impressed you know your stuff. The Mutt is a running n sounded pretty good too. Really happy for ya. Now you can go cruzan in your Mutt (Jeep) 😄 I ordered my T-shirt n it should be arriving soon. I’m really excited in getting it. Love the emblem on it. Looks great. ♥️♥️😊👍👍👍🐶
So cool to watch you get that old vehicle going. It's the old Marine ingenuity. My son with the 3/3 in Fallujah had to do similar acts to keep stuff going at times.
Excellent on the Mutt! I love when you work on your vehicles. I miss the old 9N repairs, but I think you still have enough vehicles to work on and post videos! Yes, nice shirt under the hood and the one you are wearing! I think I will try rubbing the hood of my car like a magic lamp and see if a t-shirt magically appears for me. 😉Oh mighty TOBF Genie bestow a t-shirt upon me...🧞😆❣
I feel stupid. I reacted to your for sale on the Ford and realized I hadn’t watched all of Aaron’s fix the Ford video to the end. I really thought he had damaged it until you would get there to see it. Duh! Sorry!
Robert, I noticed that when you were driving around the back of the property that there is no wisteria back there and you have near conquered in out front. WoW!
IT'S NOT a Jeep. It's a Ford that's why it's broke down more than it runs!!! LOL,LOL.... Older Jeeps had their problems also I no but not like a Ford!!!
Excellent workmanship Robert. I do encourage you to get the brakes fixed though as you mention. Taking the spare parts out of the back and getting your driver seat and maybe the passenger seat reupholstered would be a nice touch as would getting a new windshield and a repaired radiator or old working transplant if you could find such.
Nice to see the Mutt back on the dirt road running better than it ever was! I think that mystery line would be a crankcase vent as you thought. Likely meant to be hooked up to the missing air filter. Looking forward to see the Grille back on it. The thing looks awesome
