Those trucks are always breaking down. You think all those dodge parts will last over 20 years😅. A constant process of replacing things as they break and leave you stranded
My Father-in-law passed away last month. My brother-in-law got his 2019 Dodge Ram 2500. I got his 2001 Dodge Ram quad cab 2500 24 valve automatic trans he parked outside in the cow pasture and was sitting for 4 years. The batteries were dead so I got 2 new batteries. The engine cranked on the very first turn. It had a full tank of diesel in it. I was amazed it only had 130K miles on it. It is completely stock, zero mods and one owner. It was extremely dirty as he never once took it to a car wash, but it cleaned up really nice on the inside. No rips in the seats. Only a couple of cracks in the dash. He had the floor mats upside down so they cleaned up like factory new. Other than not cleaning it and letting it sit for 4 years, he totally babied the truck. The body does have some damage from cows and a tree falling on it during a tornado a few years ago. Also the paint is faded. The tornado/tree also busted out the rear windshield. The AC doesn't work. I thought it was just an actuator blend door. I replaced the actuator but it is still not cooling, I am hoping it just needs Freon now. I am totally loving this truck. Everyone at my cowboy church wants to buy it. I told them all they can forget it. I am almost thinking my brother-in-law got the short end of the deal 😄.
In 1997 my grandparents ordered a brand new model year 98 Ram 1500 in that beautiful red color with this body style. I absolutely loved that truck and wanted it so bad. Grandma sold it in 2010 after grandpa died and it looked as mint as the day they brought it home. He had an old F-250 he putzed around the farm with so it never left the garage lol In my opinion this is the best body style of the Ram, it just looks so damn good and the growl of the Cummins diesel sounds amazing!!!
Nice video once again thanks for the time to watch and relax. On another note. I felt like I went on a binge watch you pressure wash the dust off that truck it was quite satisfying lol
You must be my cousin man. I make a living with a backhoe and excavator and live on property with a bunch of old diesel horses that I play with. Damn brother. Awesome. Keep on rollin. Doing good.
Damned good buy. As is, bad engine/turbo/power steering, that's a 12k truck ALL day long. Fixed, 17 to almost 20k. We got rust. Doing the curves, she sounded pretty too. Lose the screwdriver though, it just looks awful. I reccommend a John Milner shifter. (I use a piston out of a dirt bike. Drill and tap the wrist pin, neoprene band to eliminate the rattle.)
I have a 1974 Ford F-250 camper special 2wd that I am also looking into doing a 12 valve Cummins swap as well. My only problem is trying to find a worthy donor truck in my neck of the woods.
That sort of corny term "dream truck/car", well this one is mine!! 8) Loved that John Prine tune at the beginning! I had the privilege of meeting him several times in Nashville. I did some guitar work there several times over the years. John was just a super nice guy! C19 got him, very sadly. Great find Sam!! 8) --gary
Trust me my right side headlight now that is yellowed lol, and why i scored a used decent shape junkyard headlights set just need to clean the dirt and leaves out of the housings and put the new set of Sylvania silver Star headlight bulbs in the housings and installed on the truck and then it will have a good set of headlights and fog lights on the front of the truck, the Dr side is okay well ish
That’s an awesome find Sam! When your using the yellow can oven cleaner have you had any negative issues using it? Like eating rubber hoses or electrical lines? Or can you use it decently liberally? I have a filthy engine bay I want to try it on! Keep up the great content!
Lucky you I had to get rid of my 02 back in 2019 due to smog issues now I'm welding out of an F 2 sissy gasser I need a 2gen extra cab even if it's a 12valve I'm always looking but no luck so far
The CTD 2nd gens stole my heart when I bought a brand new one in 2001. Traded it in in 2017. Miss that truck. Is that John Prine and what song is that? Sure do like it.
as I was watching this video I'm wondering ..you were considering parting it out? bruh that things mint. I'm from the rust belt and the few of those truck that I do see there all rolling rust holes. glad its being saved.
If you're interested I have a 96 12 valve I've been working on to put into my 79 1 ton GMC, but I recently came across a 2006 3500 24 valve with a G56 that I got cheap from a Utah owner. So, to make a long story short, I really don't need the 12 valve any longer (plus I don't have a trans for it either) If you want more details, hit me up. I have a couple of videos of it on RU-vid.
Really i wonder if it is a different setup or why would it not function,i say that because my 2000 dodge ram laramie slt quad cab long bed magnum V8 46 RH automatic overdrive transmission manual shift transfer case lever on the floor gloss black with most of the white pinstripe 1500 4x4 fasten belts light works, headlight warning buzzer works and the check engine light and brake light when you first turn on the ignition key all work
And i have a full set of fender flares for the 2000 dodge ram truck because that's what they were going to do about the rusted out front fenders and yeah nope not me not my way of doing things,, I would just drive it with the rusted out front fenders until I find a decent set of front fenders, before I put those flares on the truck and they look like a new set although I just left them out in the weather since i have no intention of using them on anything.
