I'm a fan of older Mazda cars. I had a white1989 Mazda 626 I bought from the original owner. It ran like a singer sewing machine. I didn't look real closely at the time and thought the odometer read 96k miles, but later I realized it was 196k miles. Big difference, but I only gave $800.00 for it. The body was straight, no rust as salt wasn't used on the roads here in Arkansas until very recently. The interior was a deep blue cloth, no rips or damage. The real problems were cosmetic. It was always outside from the time it was new so the paint was dead and dull. It took a few days of careful buffing, but the paint came out like new again. The 14 inch wheels and factory hubcaps looked awful to me. I went to a tire store that dealt with new and used wheels. They had a set of sporty looking factory 15 inch wheels from a Mazda MX-6. Well, those wheels and a new set of tires changed the look of the car completely, so I had the windows tinted too. I thought it was pretty slick. Wish I had her back. Good luck with your Mazda!
@@rrrestorations5047 oh yeah, I'd love to get ahold of a nice Supra. I currently have an 07 Toyota Avalon. Bought her in 09 and never looked back. By far the most dependable car I've ever owned. She's a big girl, but that 3.5 liter is surprisingly strong and quick. I'll never sell her.
That car is definetely not a 1979 year model. You can look at the Vin number underhood on the left side on the data plate, the 10th digit refers to the model year indicated by a letter. I believe yours to be a 81 to 83 model. Here are the designated letter codes: B=1981, C=1982 D=1983 and not a 84, or 85 because of the interior and where the clock would be. @@rrrestorations5047 I concur with this statement but also add that the 79-80 Models have a different Rear design. On the 79-80 the License plate is in the middle of the car where the Lights on yours is.
I used to have an 83 RX7. I loved that little hot rod. Unfortunately, I totaled it one night in the rain when a tie rod broke and it rolled several times
Definitely a cool uncommon car! Would be great to see it stay numbers matching! but if not we all understand how that goes. I've been wanting one for years but just way hard to find in Michigan!
That's the way. Leave the car stored for 30 years with the door windows open so the rats can eat the whole interior up including the wiring. I don't know what some people are thinking when they do this.
