Sweet video! There is specific vinyls for walls and textured walls that conform to all the different little textures in there, theres also rollers that you use with heat to adhere everything to all the little crevices and stuff.
I’ve wrapped cabinets, tables, desks, & it works pretty great. For old desks...it can give them new life & a great modern look👍🏻 Using the Vvivid, Avery, 3M architectural films work amazingly well, & once they are installed.....
Fantastic demo. My thoughts: -This demonstration does not show the air channels necessary for a full brick wrap -How to avoid bubbles on the face of the brick -How to remove bubbles in the grooves after installation -Proper rolling tools available for these situations -Rolling tools vs gloves -Torch methods (I use blowtorches 99% of the time for vehicles, 25% for brick walls) -The temperature of the heat gun -How to wrap around obstacles (the wire and the outlet) -The brick face was not fully adhered to show full texture -The amount of time it would take to apply primer to each groove -Proper way to align an image or text to the wall level -Proper ways to promote adhesion to the top of the panel (banner tape or primer) Id love to see a video that shows when and when not to use primer. Or a laminated perf install tutorial. Well done and thank you for your vids.
i use 3m 180 for most textured surfaces. vcat2 foam roller for the grout lines, but first i just squeegee the edges, roll with heat over the entire brick/cinder block surface with a wide foam roller to lock it all down, then go back for the grout. much faster. some were asking about non painted brick, it’s perfectly fine. just brush off the dust and loose debris, make sure it’s dry and you’re good to go! unless someone put a sealer on it. but you can wash with isopropyl
Yes ur right for the best application, you would have to 1st spray down with muriatic acid, wait 10 min, then powerwash, and this is to get as many imperfections out as possible, let dry then use a exterior paint, whether inside or outside, paint it,let dry for 48 hours then apply 👍
I’ve been trying to convince a friend to let me wrap a section of bare plaster wall in her apartment with a brick print to give a ‘loft apartment’ feel. I’ve created variations of brick for in-store installations and exhibitions so know the outcome would look convincing 👍
Yes - this. I tried to wrap a side view mirror with the non-gloss vivvid vinyl CF, and holy crap.... They must be sneaking him the good stuff, because there is NO WAY in hell I can get those wrinkles out, and get it to good, even just doing the 30% spanning cap on the front of the side view mirror. I tried to tint my WRX headlights, and HOLY CRAP is that not as easy as his video on tinting the rear tail light. I tore the material up 3x, ruined it with heat several times, and just gave up. I keep thinking I should create a channel called "What not to do," and just film myself trying to do everything everyone on the internet makes look easy. "Tomorrow we'll be conducting brain surgery, just based on a 15 minute tutorial on RU-vid!"
Christian, if no one saw you put that vinyl on the wall, it could pass for paint. Unreal. Two things that I wonder if they could be wrapped. 1. A globe. 2. One of your hands. The hand thing would be difficult because you would need both hands to wrap it, and your skin has natural oils in it that wouldn't promote much adhesion. By chance could you wrap a " certain " president of a " certain " country ? Ü My Best, Scott
If anyone is considering this for their shop etc. You can pin hole air release those gapped areas just like you would if you were covering a rivet on a cargo truck or trailer. Also using sign vinyl (with a 5 years outdoor guarantee) will work much better for applications like this given it is thinner and higher tack. (Be warned after about 6 months it will create a ghosted image under it and may or may not take some paint off when removing).
We have a 28 foot by 13 foot brick wall wrapped in our shop and does it ever look awful. Wrap is peeling off you can see air pockets everywhere. 3600 dollars im glad i never paid for lol
Have you tried wrapping textured plastic bumpers? I was looking to wrap textured plastics on a base model suv. Wasn’t sure if I Going to need an adhesion promoter
I bought the vinyl that you said is good and it’s terrible I don’t even stick vivid vinyl socks I bought carbon fiber for my interior and it’s not sticking
Hi, great video. New subscriber here. Thanks. I tried wrapping for the first time using vvivid 3mil brushed metal on a bare plastic door trim of my 2021 Honda civic However, its not sticking because the plastic trim has a very fine textures. I tried the vinyl on smooth surface such as the car body or glass...and it did stick. But not on the bare plastic trim with fine texture. Do you have suggestion what vinyl i should use? Thank you in advance.
