There's three very significant components that are almost never addressed: 1) Both sides may be purposefully waiting until other premier players sign to ensure Jets has the most prestigious contract going into camp 2) The Wilfs could agree in principle but may still have significant logical moves to secure that amount of signing bonus and guaranteed money collateral and the most obvious 3) It's not that Jets' agent or the Vikings are disagreeing on the amount of guaranteed money, it's that there is resistance and pushback from owners and/or the NFL front office on setting a new precedent on secured money and the Vikings front office is waiting for some level of league approval.

Why do players sign 5 year rookie contracts and then want out of it after 4 years. He's going to be making 17 million this year. Why not make him play out his contracr. Would anyone be crying for a union air traffic controller that wanted more money then his contract stated? Probably not

The WR bubble will pop within a couple years due to an annual supply of quality rookies. The Vikings will be buying (very) high, and ultimately regretting it. WRs touch the ball 5-10 times a game (and that's if they're healthy).

having an effect on the defense for the entire game is what they are paying for. While also being a huge benefit for developing a young QB. Touches will go QB, RB, WR. With your theory Running backs should be paid the 2nd most on offense which is not the case. You pay for in game changers and game plan changing players. When most NFL players say Jefferson is tops, it’s undeniable. With your theory also why are tackles paid so much, they are 1 of 5 starting lineman, they can only block 1 guy.

It's not about touches it's about production. You're paying for production. Ideally, 1500 yards 10 TD per year over 4 years.

@@canislupus5 super bowls are fickle he lost to the giants when they were 17-0 and took Vikings to nfc championship game. In terms of talent you can’t tell me there is a better player than moss. He did break the bank back when also the Vikings gave him a market setting contract just obviously far less than todays pay

nah....JJ is waiting for the other WRs to sign ...he expects to be the top dog. I expect that JJ, Chase & CeeDee, are all staring at each other waiting to see who signs first. Each of these guy have arguments to be the top WR although, I believe JJ is the best all around WR in football.

why wouldn't he? we have two of the greatest WRs in NFL history and he can break their records and bring a SB he will cement his Hall of fame case. The wilfs aren't marc davis or mike brown they actually will pay people. they can spread big signing bonuses out for years if they want they just pay people after July 31st for their financial purposes.

I am tired of greedy players. Trade him. Why is it so important for JJ if he earns 50 M, 100 M or 150 M or whatever?? Just for his ego and greed, he put his reputation on stake for lousy FIAT money, anyway the USD will fall. Good lord, people are so greedy, number one is always to earn more than the rest. He could set a lovely sign by accepting a reasonable salary, and be Minnys Darling forever. But this was also not Kirks way, thank God he is gone, now see how Penix takes over. Instead JJ seems to listen to his manager more than to his (purple??) heart. Bad, bad, bad. Coming off a hamstring, and watching the fate of Kirks development, don't play with God, JJ....karma will hunt you, too, if you get too greedy. I always loved him, but now I say trade him. I am sick of greedy people. And I am everything but poor.

I'm calling a high probability that Sam Darnold will re-establish himself as a valuable NFL starter this year. Barring key injuries, the Vikings make the playoffs as a wildcard behind Detroit or Green Bay. Bears will implode. Why? I don't know. Could be the beer.

I still maintain thatJefferson is more interested in a championship before demanding cash...and I don't think he sees the possibility right now with the Vikings. I would not be surprised to see him demand a trade to a team that has championship potential...this year , not in 3 or 4. Moss once said that getting a SB win was a top priority.

they pay people after July 31st for their own financial accounting purposes. if they are gong to pay jefferson a 50M cash bonus that will happen on their schedule we already know this from years of us re-signing (and many times overpaying) our own free agents

Not gonna pretend any of us know the holdup but depending how much guaranteed money is involved we don’t know if The NFL isn’t pissed at ownership for giving out all that guaranteed money to Cousins. They may be indirectly involved saying 2 years guaranteed and that’s it. If The Vikings do something unprecedented it affects the rest of the league. Don’t underestimate the ire of other owners if the Vikings give JJ big money. Two things people get squirly about is the opposite sex and MONEY!

I think Judd is making a terrible assumption that Risner is the starter. His contract is incentive laden that if he starts he will get paid big bucks. Risner is the back up.

I say trade him! The Vikings quarterback room is in shambles. The starter is a 3rd overall pick, considered a bust, a backup that hung Jefferson out to dry accross the middle cost him 7 games, in 2023, and a Rookie the 5th quarterback off the board in 2024. Jefferson is in the middle of his prime and the Vikings have No quarterback. He will not sign, and he should not sign, and if you guys were in his shoes, you would not sign either.
