$5 here, $5 there... it all starts to add up. Advertisers pay incredible amounts of money on TV commercials. I'm not paying a dime extra over what Spectrum takes from me each month to watch anything on TV.
It's still much cheaper than paying for cable. I only use Spectrum for their internet. Still saving over $100 a month doing just streaming of channels I actually watch.
The BIG problem with streaming is that there are far too many streaming platforms and I’m sure by 2025 there will be more. With every streaming service collecting a fee, which could go up as well, we’re all going to be paying more than some of us now spend on cable. If ALL the sports could decide on the same service or limit it to just a few that might work but that’s not the trend we’re seeing. Many have even decided, i.e. Formula One and MLB to have to have their own streaming platforms with very high prices. From rumors I’ve heard that professional football is considering dropping cable for a streaming service too. The pricing sounds good now but just like cable has done streaming services can, and likely will raise prices. I’m afraid once that happens some sports will be lost to any TV. Yes, that can happen. I remember when NASCAR wasn’t on any TV networks. Back then I even had to listen to the Indy 500 on radio. It wasn’t on TV anywhere.
The BIG plus with streaming is the choice, actually. They are going to find a way to get our money and get their advertising revenue regardless of the platform. Either cable was going to cost more, or the model was going to change and become expensive. We wished for this transfer to streaming services, we got it and nothing changes. Nothing was ever going to. As far as our money goes - streaming was never going to be anything but TV 2.0. The only upside to streaming is the fact that we have more choice - If we cant afford 10 streaming services, we can choose 5. With TV, if we cant afford 2300 channels, oh well, cut the cord and get nothing I guess.
I’m a recent cord cutter and I’m not paying for any streaming services. My most watched are Peacock Free, NBC which is also free, Crackle free again, and Free Pluto. I would pay for a nascar streaming service. It’s the only sport I still watch. I think nascar should let peacock start streaming races to gauge how many would watch it. Peacock shouldn’t have exclusive races but just be another platform to where you can watch.
Like have new races on cable and peacock that nbc has the races on fox might be on a delay and have races like the modified series and arca east west exclusively on peacock kinda like what track pass is on NBC sports gold
Warned people that streaming services would circle back to cable. People canceled cable because of useless channels and expensive price. Well congratulations, you subscribe to 10 streaming services and pay $150 per month
I get everything I want with just 4 streaming services (including Peacock) and only pay about $55 a month. If you include the price of high speed internet (assuming your area has a modern infrastructure) it's still only about $105 a month, but internet is for a lot more than just streaming so it's not fair to count that in completely.
No races should be exclusively streamed but nascar does need a streaming option like NHL TV. Streaming should have perks since you are paying just for nascar. Like commercial free.
Streaming service bills will start to look like cable bills. You won’t notice at first because everyone puts it on a debit or credit card. With a cable bill you actually see once a month.
Streaming services only get ridiculous if you insist on having all of them at the same time. I only have at most 2 at a time and I rotate once I watch what I want to.
My concern are the fans who don't have the internet capacity to do any sort of streaming due to living in a rural area That's the reason why my parents keep their "cable" (satellite) subscription because as soon as they stream one episode of a TV show they've hit their data cap for the month so streaming a sporting event Is definitely a no go for them
Heard a lot of very negative things about starlink, and have never been able to trust Elon. He's flaky and only a genius because the gov gave him stupid amounts of money, and he is good at going into a failing company and asking why until its fixed while pouring billions of tax payer funds borrowed as loans. Starlink trashes our low orbit sector is what it does. And it for profit like anything else lol not to help the little man. Otherwise the Gov wouldnt have Elon on the job. Hes just as naive. Sorry if this bursted your bubble, I suggest you research more. Look into Elon more. The fearless leader behind all this. Its sketchy like everything he does. Not bashing being 100
@@AM-tu1rc If anything like satellite TV there is too many non clear skies in my area for this to be useful. Thank you for the info. I was waiting to hear more about this and the amazon one. Pretty much helped me decide what i have for internet is poor speed but at least reliable.
and i will. already a cord cutter, i get to choose exactly what services i want the quesion will be what is the cost? MTOD is only like $3 a month, and i binge a few of the shows.
@@joecreech9424 cool, i only pay for fios and the straiming services i want, nothing that i dont. i'm in for paying to stream as long as ALL races are available on peacock.
@@micahwilliams3795 Actually, I don't even have a television, and NASCAR wasn't enough of an incentive to get cable. I think if they offer streaming and still have commercials, a lot of people will be turned off.
What about the rural people that don't have high speed Internet access to stream the races? Nascar needs to remember its core fanbase lives in the middle of nowhere.
@@scotthix2926 Exactly. Even if NASCAR goes behind a paywall at $5 a month, it is way better than spending $60 a month for cable to simply watch the same content.
Another Factor playing into this hole argument is bandwidth. NASCAR's base is in the southeast who comparatively have the worst bandwidth in the nation.
22:06, as an indian, i can confirm that’s one of the greatest indian movies ever, think of it like Herbie Fully Loaded except he’s driving a normal Nextel car
I watch NASCAR on Hulu Live (someone else's account lol) when I'm at home and on Twitch when I'm not at home. So i could care less if they leave cable or not. If they take it off Hulu live then I'll still stream it on twitch
For the love of god keep the crap off peacock. I had it for the WWE stuff and it’s been nothing but problem after problem after problem. Not even just for $ but the actual stream itself is AWFUL. Constant buffering, delayed behind real time, etc etc
@@dshih199 no it’s a peacock issue. It’s well documented across the US. WWE is the only thing peacock has struggled with. Everything else has been fine
the Kenneth car reminds me of the 17 car my friend gave to me then I accidentally put in the freezer and the paint changed from yellow to brown like that
I subscribe to f1 tv app and I absolutely love it I never miss anything anymore it’s worth every penny. I wish nascar would do something like that as someone who doesn’t have tv anymore
That Indycar deal is amazing. You get more for your money on network TV Plus pay a nominal fee to watch the rest of the season. I hope the NBC takes over the entire NASCAR season if that's the case. Cable is not worth it. I'm sure this makes Comcast nervous but optimistic at the same time
Streaming can't be the only watch the race. They have to keep in mind their rural fanbase and the lack of high speed internet. If so, the ratings will drop like a rock.
Cable is expensive… but when you stack a bunch of streaming services on top of each other to get all of this service-exclusive content it kinda washes out quick.
If they decide to stream it, they have to make sure that its available in other countries other then the US, and have all races streamed regardless of whether its on tv or not. Not just a few of them.
Hey Eric, I currently pay for Xfinity internet and they include a free Peacock subscription. I use it quite a bit and I would benefit from this as well. The only reason why I want cable is so I can watch at my own home. lol
I cut the cord years ago. I watch races on RU-vid on Tuesdays when the official NASCAR channel posts them. I just have to avoid social media for a couple days to not spoil the results. I just hope that NASCAR doesn't allow their media partners to have 100% exclusive rights to the streaming and keep their right to put them up on RU-vid.
Not everyone has good internet please think of those who live rurally not all us have access to fast internet if this happens I may be done with Nascar
I want that Bob Keselowski he's my favorite drivers dad ...Matt used to be my favorite when he drove the 17 but Brad is my fav and since the 6 is still a Ford he will still be my fav.lol I can only pull for Fords
It strikes me odd that NBC -peacock one of the most liberal stations on television would be interested in NASCAR considering for the most part they have conservative fans but if they go pay-per-view it will crush NASCAR and the only thing that will survive will be hometown short tracks which will be fine with me.
I have no interest in cable, and I love that NASCAR puts the races on youtube a few days after. Zero chance of me buying cable, but if I would pay a small fee to watch races live.
NASCAR is already having issues with ratings and viewer retention, perhaps if they went to a broadcast network they can get their ratings back, I don't watch races because I won't pay for cable or multiple streaming service. Peacock has the one benefit of being owned by Comcast, and premium is free to at least some of the Comcast Xfinity customer base.
Yeah and I have an idea. Why not work a deal with Comcast and Xfinity cable to something similar to hot pass and give Cable providers the package to watch on board cameras.
Im all for Nascar on streaming. Im paying $65/ month for RU-vid tv and I really only watch nascar on there. Id pay $10 all day for a central resource for all races and news, I’m all for it
Why not broadcast NASCAR on both cable (so that you still include the older fans such as myself) and streaming service’s (to broadcast to younger audiences).
I pay about $75 a month for ATT TV app, purely to watch racing and the Astros. I also get Rick and Morty faster than others. Beyond that, I don’t need the 60 other channels.
Nascar already uploads the races here on RU-vid, thus making the reason for a seperate streaming service null and void. Ergo, if Nascar wants to livestream their races somewhere, they can easily do it here.
They should have both cable and streaming. People will pay the premium for streaming if there are no commercials during the race. I pay youtube premium just so I don’t see commercials
They are already losing fans, streaming is going to cost them more. Not a lot can afford streaming services or have the technology to do so via various circumstances.
It's only really "extra" to those who haven't dropped cable yet. For the rest of us, we're still saving tons of money with or without paying for Peacock
Eric you get some awesome stuff for sure! I enjoy setting it all, I’ve got cable so I’m not sure how I feel about streaming yet!! Time will tell I guess!!
I don't think NASCAR fans realize how good they have it currently. Not only is it broadcast nationally on cable, it's one of the easiest sports to find high quality streams, commercial-free streams online. As a dirt fan there's no cheap options for watching races. Everyone's mad about "racing being behind a paywall" but the entire dirt racing sport is already behind a paywall, either you pay for streaming services or spend $10-20 for a general admission tcket to the races, $30+ if it's a big show. Maybe once every few months one of the bigger series will put a free show on Facebook Live. Illegal streams don't really exist anymore after the crackdown last year. Twitch streams pop up sometimes but you're lucky if they last 30 mins. Dirtvision is $300 per year for WoO shows and Summer Nationals, MavTV Plus is $100 per year for just Lucas Oil Super Lates with terrible video problems from what I've heard, and Flo is $150 per year for the Chili Bowl and ASCoC and a bunch of smaller local track stuff. I would pay $10 monthly for Peacock to watch NASCAR, only if there would be no advertisements mid-race, we can just turn off the announcers off, and have the option to choose different cameras (maybe even a Redzone-esque quad box with options like the main feed, certain drivers, static views, etc.) Plus there would be times where NASCAR's schedule overlaps with big WWE shows (Wrestlemania, Summerslam, Survivor Series) and I'm sure there's some overlap of NASCAR fans that already pay for Peacock just for WWE.
the Kenneth car reminds me of the 17 car my friend gave to me then I accidentally put in the freezer and the paint changed from yellow to brown like that
This is why I dont watch F1 - Sky Sports (here in the UK) can do one! How will this affect the RU-vid replays? These are an awesome service for me, as I watch the races back in the week when I have time.
You know as well as I do if the streaming on Peacock happens there would be a huge lash back. Bc ppl like me and others are tight on money we can’t just give up $5 a month. Remember $60 a year when I can watch it for free on my regular TV that I already paid for. Just stupid
I've been a nascar fan for almost 30 years And if it comes to paying to watch nascar on TV That will be it for me I paid for a lot of useless cable now
I wish these networks would do like a "pay per view" deal for specifics, like say Nascar on Peacock. I don't have cable. My thing, like, say pay $10-20 for access to Nascar coverage only, and that be for the year. Like with Peacock, $6 a month, but I don't want to bother with it. However hell, pay a part of it and have access ONLY to Nascar things, NBC still gains on that I feel. $6/month for access to everything or what would essentially be $3/month and only be able to access Nascar? In this aspect, i think NBC gains money for that.
The only reason ive been paying for a tv provider for the last 10 years is so i can watch all 3 series of nascar, i wont be the least bit surprised if they end up trying to squeeze a little more money out of my pocket, not the best way to treat a die hard life long fan.
I literally only pay for RU-vid TV to watch and DVR the Nascar races. I'd rather not have to pay for another service if I already have a great working (and recording) place to watch races. The only way I'd switch to another platform if is every Nascar race is saved and indexed and you could watch it whenever in raw form (not the rebroadcast cut versions).
A NASCAR Streaming Service should be like the WWE Network Before Peacock got a hold of it, This new Streaming service should have all the races and qualifying and practices from Cup, Xfinity, Trucks, ARCA (East, West, and Main), Weekly Racing (Tape Delay for most tracks), Classic Races from all divisions. NASCAR Documentaries Similar to WWE's documentaries like Untold, WWE 24, Attitude Era, Ruthless Aggression, etc. All the Podcasts that do NASCAR like Dale Jr. Download or the Scene Vault Podcast. Even some shows like a Garage Tours show, a recreation of MTV Cribs only call it NASCAR Cribs, and even a sitcom series involving NASCAR drivers like that one Netflix series they had earlier this year. I have ideas for this potential streaming service that can make money man! Shame I'm not very tech savvy
