Will NAVAC Pumps compete in Commercial HVAC?

Performing a compressor replacement on a York air cooled chiller screw compressor. This compressor failure was caused by a failed liquid level sensor and electrical wiring. I also got to test the NAVAC NRD24M vacuum pump and the NRDC4M recovery machine. NAVAC NMV1 micron gauge is also featured.
Please note that NAVAC recommends using a filter dryer with their recovery machines. Prior to this video I tested and verified this system had no contaminates.

Even pure nitrogen will drop in pressure with a temp drop. It just has much less of a drop than atmosphere or refrigerant. The HVAC school app has a calculator built in for figuring this. You can enter the starting temp and pressure, and enter the ending temp and pressure and see if it has actually leaked at all. Awesome video man!

Pure nitrogen will not raise nor drop unless in a perfect vacuum or headed to a star. All the other shit affected the delta...

Things have really changed in this field since I retired. Some of it for the better and some of it for the not so better. Like this demonstration of the new equipment is awesome. Too bad it wasn’t available for me. I really love watching your videos, kind of keeps me updated on some of the new changes. MTT Brother.

You probably know it, after some years in the trade. After vacuum, and equalizing, take your pressure / temperature = number. After 24 hours, take pressure / temperature = same number, it's tight.

I do every job with my 8cfm YJ. 3000ton YKs, 200 ton YVAAs, 2 ton Heat Pumps, Recovery Tanks, whatever. I try to use the biggest and shortest hose as possible and as many of them I can fit. Last big job I did was out in the snow, YLAA chiller, put a 3/8 hose on liquid service, 3/8 hose of suction charging valve, 1/4" hose on liquid line after EEV and micron gauge was on discharge pipe. Within an hour, I was at 480 microns (enough time to pack my tools and make one trip to my van and back up with the refrigerant.) The next morning I got to 340 where it stayed for 2 hours decaying. I ALWAYS leave my pump running overnight on anything bigger than 5 tons, unless I achieve sub 500 before lunchtime. All repair job are quoted as minimum two days or 1 and a half days, to get a quality evacuation. With a single 1/2" hose, I can pull a 2500 ton YK chiller from 14.4psia to 1200 microns in a couple hours and it takes the remainder of the night to get below 300 (boiling 15 gallons of refrigerant laden used oil.) Point is, I like this pump but would NEVER bring it to job sites. This seems like a great fit for a Chiller Plant to be dragged around to each unit... not so much a service van. Looks like it weighs over 100lbs.

Bloody Nora mate ! With the setup I've got it would've taken me ages to get to 3000 microns, let alone 350 ! Holden mate , next time you talk to Navac could you please ask them why they're not available over in the EU ? And I don't wanna hear them say : oh but we are ! Nah man , they aren't, trust me I've looked for their products and nobody has heard of them over here 😒.

Just a note, the hotter the oil in the pump the faster moisture will evaporate out of the oil. Is advantageous.

I have an Accutools Pro....the app that you can use is fantastic and has plenty of recordable data. Pull down, decay test, graphs. I do like Navac products and they produce for a lot of manufacturers that just re-brand them. This was a cool video of some awesome products. Hahahaha the little quips were hilarious....they were blown...them right there...they blew because there blown.... 🤣

Used my first navac master series 4cyl recov machine. Thing is a beast. Not using push pull to charge 800lbs of r134 it had 300lbs in the chiller in around 3.5 hours. Next will be the vacuum pump

Interesting, you’ve had success with Nylog on those threaded fittings without leakage? I don’t know why I feel squirrelly about using it in those applications. My general go to is either Loctite 567 or 554.

Let me know if you get this comment and let me know if this pump is working out for you. I’m thinking about buying one. Thank you great video video

The pump has been completely fantastic. I've been such a big fan of the Apion G5 twin for such a long time but this one has become my new favorite. You can move refrigerant really well like the g5 twin but it's built-in subcooler is amazing and then the ability to bypass the subcooler to increase flow has been great. The other techs are constantly trying to borrow it. Anyway it's easy to say for somebody that had a given to him but I have truly loved this pump.

Here we use Trace-a-gas which is 95% nitrogen and 5% hydrogen, then you can use a hydrogen electronic leak detector to find leaks . Its good for looking for leaks but not so much for pressure testing because it's even more reactive to temperature changes .

Nitrogen pressure will definitely rise and fall with temp swings. Like mentioned above, There are apps for It, Even websites that will calculate It for you. Good one to show apprentices Is the below formula. Nitrogen test P2 = (P1xT2)/T1 P1 - Test pressure P2 - Verified pressure T1 - Ambient test pressure temp T2 - Ambient verified pressure test Need to convert F* to Kelvin K= (*F - 32 / 1.800 ) + 273.15 Example: Test pressure 190# @ 94* (307.6 K) Verified pressure temp 70* (294.3 K) (190 x 294.3) / 307.6 = 181.78 PSI
@persimonsen8792
@persimonsen8792 Год назад
Or start pressure / temp (measure on pipe) = a number. After pressure test. new pressure / new temperature = same number, it's tight.
