Brawling out in the crowd has been a thing in wrestling for forever like in the 70s and 80s in the territories.The concession stand brawls in Tennessee are iconic in pro wrestling history and the foundation for modern hardcore matches and crowd brawls.

@@97ECW But not to the extent of setting people on fire and super kicking them in the face with thumbtack shoes and getting back up and doing more outrageous things... That's overkill. Most average people would not be able to take that much punishment and continue to fight. There is no storytelling in a match like that. It's just glorified move after move and makes an actual finisher meaningless. If a guy can survive being caught on fire in one match and continue do you expect him to get put down in another match by even three finishers?

@@BryanSem-wb7qp Mick Foley literally became a star of doing stuff like that and even crazier stuff in WWF which is what WWE was called back in the day. Even Bray Wyatt was set on fire when he wrestled Randy Orton a few years back. It's okay if you don't know these things but a promotion like ECW did even crazier stuff almost 30 years ago and that promotion was owned by WWE's Paul Heyman

@@goodfella1401 Yes, I am aware of that. There is only one Mick Foley/Mankind and no member of "The New Elite" has the charisma or ability to put on a match like Foley did. I was a kid/teen watching during the attitude era and even then I can't remember many matches that take on the insanity of an anarchy in the arena match in the WWF. If you can pull a match from any pro wrestling catalog that does what AEW does in a crazy match like that feel free to post it. Edge vs. Foley at Mania was crazy but even that doesn't light a candle to these "matches" AEW puts on.

It was different for me and I enjoyed the cheesy comedy of it but this Anarchy in the Arena stuff just takes it too far for me. I'm not hating on it. It's just not for me and I don't consider it pro wrestling. I guess I just enjoy the traditional sense of pro wrestling being a match in the ring with emotions and all. I really enjoyed the Will Ospreay vs. Bryan Danielson match. No needless weapons and craziness needed to put on an actual good wrestling match
