Will Our Flooded Jet Ski Ever Run Again?

Well a couple things I guess. For one, great job with the repairs they look great, but I’d recommend a few things. Definitely get the whole intake system cleaned out, (charge pipes, intercooler, and intake manifold) I would install a catch can as soon as possible to avoid ever having to do that job again and making the ski last longer. Make sure you get new oil and good coolant in there and when you go out to test it check for supercharger slip. (Will result in lower than targeted rpm’s) and if that happens I would recommend doing a supercharger rebuild. Only other thing is definitely get that engine aligned and replace the carbon seal, prop, and wear ring if they need it.

Its sounds good. You guys did an amazing job with this build

Couple things to note. 1. Since it's supercharged you have to use a JASO MA-2 oil or else the friction washers in the superchargers will slip excessively and cause premature failure and lack of boost. 2. Did you align the engine? If not, the carbon seal will wear out VERY quickly and you'll end up sinking. The shaft has play in it so it'll slide in even without an alignment but it will put a lot of stress on one side of the seal, which causes it to wear. 3. When running the ski on the hose, ideally you only want to run it for 30 seconds but up to 2 minutes is okay. Any more than that and you're getting the carbon seal red hot which will also cause it to fail. 4. When you're changing the oil, make sure you follow the oil level check procedure. It's a dry sump oil system, so there's no main reservoir. If you fill it based on the stick reading without performing the oil level procedure, then you'll most likely put far too much oil in.

There goes your carbon seal on the pump, you will be replacing that in the near future! You need to follow the boil out procedure to get all the water out of the engine.

You lucked out with a good engine thankfully! It would have sucked royally if you did all that glass work just to have a dead engine. I look forward to seeing this on the water soon, good job guys!

Great work. Good luck. It is not a Jet Ski tho. It is a Sea Doo. Kawasaki is the only Jet Ski. Like saying a Ford Camaro.

You aren’t supposed to let it run withthe hose for more than 30 - 45 seconds. The carbon seal will burn since it’s cooled by the water pulled in from the jet pump. You should buy a carbon seal kit and replace it since it’s got so many hours anyway.
