To me, it sounds like an inhale. When I inhale, I can make that sound. It has a very specific tone compared to the exhales growls, which are warm and round. You can also hear her stop and try to find it again. I'm pretty sure that's what's going on. I can't exhale growl yet, but the inhales come easy

Check out Jon Aldara from Hamferd/IOTUNN/Barren Earth. Classically trained opera singer with a damn mean guttural voice.

It was definitely an inward fry which imo is a little easier for a beginner to grasp, but even still it took me a while to getting that technique to sound cool, and still only something I’d do on occasion since the inhale is kinda hard on your chords

a vocal coach who truly understands and knows their shit will give props to a good metal vocalist because they understand what goes into making those kinds of sounds, they understand the skill it takes to do what they do without completely decimating their voice, so it's really no surprise. It's more telling of a "vocal couch" that condemns every metal vocalist, telling as in telling everyone they don't actually know shit lmfao
