Will Rogers Gardens - 1909 plan called for a “Grand Boulevard” to encircle the city several miles distant from the downtown, with a major park set at each of the “corners.” In its historic setting, Will Rogers Park first appeared on the city maps in 1909. Development was put off until the 1930s, by Federal Works Projects Administration (WPA ) and Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) programs. Originally named Northwest Park northwest corner of the Grand Boulevard loop, which was the City's original outer transportation route. It was renamed in 1936 to honor humorist Will Rogers, one of Oklahoma's favorite sons. It on the National Register of Historic Places. Used native sandstone structures. Picnic pavilion stone stairway leading to a tower lookout on the southwest side. Disc golf 18 holes with target type Mach II. The jewel of the Gardens Conservatory, a glass-enclosed inspired by 19th-century Victorian architecture. The greenhouse was first installed inside Douglass Park near NE 10th and Eastern Avenue in 1924, on what were the grounds of the original State Fair park.
