What I like most about your videos... the casual back and forth banter between you and your wife. No selling. No fluff. Just a honest conversation about the competition vehicles. Kudos to the two of you.

“Does the Tesla Model Y have adequate service for its owner and is it completely harmless to him?” I've been using this model for a little less than a year. During this time, I managed to drive through the state of New Jersey including a trip to Florida and back of no more than 5,000 miles. Unlike as a professional who review the advantages and disadvantages of various models. I consider myself as an ordinary user of the machine which I chose for one or another reason. But now I want to dwell only on two comments that bother me the most. I must admit that after using this car for a while, my wife and I became to fear of this model for two important points. The first point surprises me with its simplicity and why it is not implemented in such an advanced car! I mean the moment when the driver forgets the keys, and in this case, the phone, when leaving the car. I'm sure this has happened to everyone at least once. What did my previous car "MURANO" if the keys were left inside the car? The car was loudly beeped to force the driver return back and resolve the problem. What does the advanced "MODEL Y" do? The system sends a message to the phone, which was forgotten inside the car. HELLO! Nobody in car. The car is still open and car remains completely unprotected from any attacks. That why I'm not happy with such a service. But my second remark is even more serious. Let's say you got into the driver's seat and drove the car out of the garage using reverse. You have to stopped in front of the garage and are waiting for the passenger to take his seat. The driver parked the car while he waits for the passenger. The passenger opened the door and at the same time on the computer screen you can see the inscription: “Door open”. Great! But let's not rush. Let's say the driver at this moment has the phone conversation, and was forget to put the car into the Parking mode. If driver foot doesn’t push the acceleration pedal. The car doesn’t move at all. The passenger opened the door and decided to take his seat. At that moment the driver’s leg twitched nervously and he mechanically pressed the accelerator pedal that brought the engine to work. What do you think will happen to the passenger at this moment? I will answer for you. He will be thrown by the car at distance that will depend on how hard the driver presses the pedal. One day I forgot to put the car in park mode. What happened after that horrified me! I threw my wife six feet back. Am I to blame for what I did? Of course I'm guilty! But did the manufacturer provide for such a possibility? Obviously, it wasn't. Everyone one knows the following statement: "The Safety First"! With a longer study of the capabilities of the new car, you will learn that in exactly the same situation, when the driver did not switch the car to the appropriate mode, but only removed his foot from the accelerator pedal, and at the same time opened the driver side door, the car will be automatically switched to the parking mode. At the same time on the monitor can be written a sign: “Vehicle automatically parked to prevent rollaway”. Now questions to the manufacturer. Why didn't the manufacturer have such a simple task as protecting the passenger from possible driver errors? Especially since the car is equipped with a sufficient number of sensors both inside and outside the cabin. Why the manufacturer didn't provide the same options for passenger? All doors in the car should work the same. Is this a reliable service? I would ask professionals to provide clarification on the issues I raised or help with refining the program so that it would be possible to control the situation when all doors are opened.

She makes a good point about the boot up “disclaimers”. It’s like legacy manufacturers always want to tell you how to drive. Tesla and Rivian have much cleaner startups.

But your car lacks a Turn Signal Stalk, which every luxury car worldwide has. M3 FSD is still a buggy Level 2 assistant, and years away from full autonomy. Hybrids now get 630 miles of range on a tank of gas, and 5 minutes to refill the tank. Tesla cannot compare to that !

Always love when you bring the wife in. She sounds like an average person buying a car. Curious if you will bring in the Cadillaq Optiq as it would just be on when she gets into the car like the tesla, but gives her that more luxury vibe, and what about say the Honda Prologue. Your wife like the utility of sport utility vehicles, but she doesnt not seem to be a high maintenance person.

I recently rented a model y on Turo because me and my wife are looking to go electric. Everything about the car was great except that 4 times during our drive using traffic aware autopilot, it pushed on the breaks pretty hard there was a car in front of us but it was no where near close enough to break that hard. I'm not sure if that's the phantom breaking issue or just how AP works. I haven't heard much on it so I'm not sure.
@BenSullinsOfficial
@BenSullinsOfficial Месяц назад
It might be the version. A year or so ago we had terrible phantom braking but it's since been fixed
@Salty1952
@Salty1952 Месяц назад
My 2023 MYLR does the same thing. It's easily predicted after awhile you just get ready with the accelerator pedal and smooth out the slowdown or just overcome it by pressing harder on the pedal. Sounds weird maybe, but it's intuitive eventually. I remember Jennie talking about phantom braking quite awhile ago. I think that might be due to the camera not being able to see the road ahead. I have zero complaints about my Y. And then there's the charging network... Road tripping is easy.

Charging is the most critical factor to me… Anything other than Tesla superchargers adds a whole level of vulnerability and worry. Also, Tesla is intuitive. You don’t have to turn the system on or off, regen is always on, anything the system can figure out for you it does. For me there is no comparison.

Tesla for sure. Non pretentious smart and hip choice. The Audi and Nissan were already built outdated. No dog mode, Supercharger routing or an amazing app. It's still years ahead. Your wife is extremely sharp. She could have chosen Audi to show off but shes well grounded and doesnt need a premium German brand to compensate. Clean and stylish is a perfect description of the Tesla.

@@BenSullinsOfficial I had a Model 3 for over 6 years and 79K miles. My current Ioniq 5 is a much more comfortable, functional EV that never suffers Tourette Syndrome with phantom braking, paranoid merging, red steering wheel alarms, ping-ponging between lanes, etc. The Model 3 only beat it with widespread availability of Superchargers… but that will change soon enough.

Jen - I'm keeping my 2020 MYP as well. It's still the best product out there. I might even trade up for a Juniper next year. I dig the utility and they're so simple...point and shoot, u don't even think about it anymore...it's just efficient. All these new ones are kind of bummers TBH. IMO, the Silverado (Sil-EV-Rado?) & Rivian are the only ones close. I just wish elon would come back to the light side, the love side, the rational side. Just imagine if Covid never happened and he got all butt-hurt over masking for a few weeks. If not for that one event, things may be much different today. Such a small man, I'm not mad...just disappointed, really, really disappointed. It's hard to continue supporting the Art, not the Artist...but it's still a damn good product, an until that changes...I'm still a FanBoi...but moreso with Hans, at least that's what I keep telling ppl. Good to see ya. Hope the house is coming along well. Curious to see how that pool house will do in the hawt summer heat.
