That AT875R sounds absurdly good, I was debating whether to get this or the NTG1 (borderline same price) for both on-screen stuff and voice over. Good to know this thing could do both (for the most part), so I'm setting my eyes back on it. Thanks for this video, keep up the good conent as always. 👍

Thanks for checking out the video! I’m working on the comparison to the MKH 416, right now, and from what I can hear it’s holding up really well. That video should be out next week. Thanks for checking out the video!

Solid info. I'm going to wait and go for the Sennheiser 416. The great thing about microphones is you really get what you pay for so I'd rather plunk down the extra money instead of regretting another budget purchase

I agree to a point. The 416 will give you a careers worth of value. The AT will give you enough until you become a full professional. The comparison was much closer than I thought. Thanks for checking out the video!

My AT875R is my primary mic, and in second is the bigger Synco D2. I love the way the AT cuddles the richness of my voice. The Sennheiser seems brighter and as if it wouldn't like cuddling as much, but I've never tried it.

For voice over the 416 is a luxury, nice to have an will give you great sound but you definitely don't need it. The 875R will do a great job and last a long time for a fraction of the price. You will be using it for a while and maybe one day upgrade to a 416 or something else. Thanks for checking out the video!

Hi there. I’ve interacted with you previously on your previous video comparing the Lewitt LCT 040 and the Oktava. This video has provided further information on what I have been looking for. Currently I use a Rode NT1A on a boom pole for indoor dialogues. I realise that this is not the best case use for this mic. So I have been looking for a small diaphragm condenser mic for indoor use. Having watched this video, I would like your advice on two points please. 1) Shouod I go for a small diaphragm condenser microphone or a small shotgun like 875R. My use case is indoors. 2) Will a small condenser cardiod mic help in reducing the environmental noise as compared to the large diaphragm one, or should I aim for a super or hyper cardiod one? There seem to be a large choice in the cardiods as compared to the super/hyper cardiods. I’ve seen your later video on the expensive Sennheiser, but that is currently not in my reach. Thanks again.
@RebelTech1990
@RebelTech1990 Год назад
It seems like you want to boom the mic out of the shot. This would mean you should use a small diaphragm or shotgun. Now it comes down to how reflective your room is. If you have a “very” reflective room, go for a small diaphragm. If it’s not too bad and you can treat it a little bit then a shotgun would be good. Thankfully there are some small diaphragm mics that have a hyper/super cardioid pattern. I’m going to put out a comparison between the AT875R and Oktava mk012 soon. This will help understand the difference in quality between the two types of mics. Now, this doesn’t mean if you like the Oktava that you have to buy that one. Most hyper cardioid small diaphragm mics will be pretty much on par. Hope this helps, let me know if you need any more help. Thanks for checking out the video!

Will this mic be good for Discord/Zoom calls? And also if i can make a makeshift vocal booth (blankets etc.) For voiceovers? Thinking about getting this one or an Nt-1, what do you suggest?
@RebelTech1990
@RebelTech1990 2 месяца назад
Honestly this or the nt1 are good. The factor that could make your decision is off axis rejection. The AT875R will reject more off axis sounds but I don’t think it sounds as good as the NT1. I would try to get a solid environment and go with the NT1. Thanks for checking out the video!

Hello, pls can u help, will it sound good with a recorder like Zoom H5? or i need better preamps?
@RebelTech1990

It should be fine with the H5. I used an H5 for a couple of years, mostly with a Sennheiser MKE 600. So it should be fine with it. Thanks for checking out the video!

would this work well for recording an audience at a comedy show?
@RebelTech1990
@RebelTech1990 Год назад
I would think so, I’m just not sure if the polar pattern is too tight for a wide crowd. If you have it further back behind the strange it should pick up everyone but a cardioid patter might be a better option to pick up a wider range

I really like to see how it compares to oktava mk-012-1. I just bought at875r to compare it with rode nt5 and for me at875r sounds better (both indoors and outdoors). I was thinking about oktava but it's a rus*ian product and I don't want to contribute to that, actually not only me, a lot of music centers in europe decided not to sell oktava anymore. If I can ask you for one thing. Could you compare them recording from above your head on a boom? That's the way I would use them. I would also really appreciate comparison of self noise.
@RebelTech1990
@RebelTech1990 Год назад
I get the hesitation to not wanting to get the Oktava. It’s unfortunate because they make great products. I’ll see what I have filmed already and add in the stuff that I may have missed. Hopefully have the comparison out in the next week or two. Thanks for checking out the video!

Russia is doing good and better in their economy because of this absurd boycott or new cancel culture.. they don't need us and we are losing our currency dominance atm to China.. I guess Europe has nuked itself as well because of this cancel culture foolishness

My dog was munching her butt at the same time.... didn't notice anything "agredious" (dont think I've ever spelled out the word agreedious before... neato!) Also, I bought this mic a lil over $100/150ish from Amazon, and they shipped me 2 mics??? I'm not complaining, but I noticed they will sell these in a 2 pack. What's up with that? (Audia technica, not amazon, i totally know what's up with amazon)
@tvpierce1
@tvpierce1 5 месяцев назад
They sell mics like this in matched pairs because one of the uses of them is to record stereo performances. The rationale is that if you had one mic that perhaps you bought years ago to use as a solo shotgun mic, then bought another one today to facilitate recording a stereo performance, that the two may not match perfectly because of manufacturing variations and/or daily use. The matched pairs come from the same manufacturing "bundle".

Sony ECM-XM1 .. Similar design.
@jeffmueller4871
@jeffmueller4871 Год назад
Interesting that you bring up the ECM-XM1 as I've been looking for quality reviews on that. I have ordered a Sony FX30 with the XLR Handle and am looking for an on camera mic to use with that. The ECM-XM1 is what Sony paired with their earlier (XLR-K3M) module so I thought it might be a good choice, but I haven't found much information. Do you have any links? AT875R sounds like a great short shotgun in this price range, but I wonder if the XM1might be a better on camera mic? More directional?
