As soon as he stood up, Chris had an obligation to tone it down, as the emcee. And as a Black man, he should know, culturally, how critical it is to stand up for the wife. When he kept talking, Chris knew he was verbally cuckolding Will. The first rule of deescalation is, if I made someone lose face, I must give up face to restore calm. Chris did not. He kept goading.
