This is what annoys me so much about Galloway: Michael Caine: “Alfred Hitchcock never spoke to me again” Galloway: “Will, what about you? He doesn’t grasp the weight of things that are said. You can hear the others react to things and and he just jumps on to the next person or question because he isn’t really interested in anything they are saying.

Absolutely! It is annoying to see and hear a legend like Michael Caine, being cut like that, sometimes in the middle of the thought or sentence. This host is totally out of the subject and person infornt of him. Totally irrelevant...Even if he has his fine bit of questions, that is not the path, the way to reveal it. Such a prick!

its literally the worst thing you can do as an interviewer. we call it "missing the story" in journalism bc the interviewer is so focused on his list of questions to get through he misses the oppurtunity to get the story that people want to hear.

I think the roundtable-concept is great, but would be more authentic without hosts. If there were a deck of cards with questions on the table to start the conversation, I think the people around the table could handle that masterfully in a way more natural manner.

If each of these very experienced people were allowed to talk as much as they wanted the video would run too long. The host has many important jobs, one of which is to keep things moving so that the final edit can be succinct. It's quite possible that a person stops talking, perhaps adds a few words that don't move their statement forward, and the sequence is cut short by editors as they prepare the video for release. This video was absolutely not presented here as it was shot, to think so is absurd. You probably agree with me on that, so the question then is, what was said about the prejudice/racism issue that was not included in the final video? We will probably never know, so it is hard to ascribe a judgement on how 'nice' including or excluding that content was.

What we need is Graham Norton holding James Lipton's cards of questions. If I were interviewing a group like this (and I hope to do it someday), I would go into it knowing: a) Will Smith will try to hog the conversation b) the most wry comments will come from Mark Ruffalo c) Samuel is the linchpin - he has seen every film the others have made so he can speak to them d) Plus I would attempt to steer the conversations between actors we don't hear from as much (Joe, Michael and Benicio). But primarily it would be research, research, research with clear questions at the appropriate times, Brian Linehan style (Canadian interviewer back in the day). There is no need for butting in with silly questions - that's what editing is for.

I swear this interviewer is the worst. How rude of him to cut Michael off in the middle of his story and reask the question. This interviewer is the same in every interview I've seen him do. Why do they keep letting him do this?
@BenjiSun
@BenjiSun 5 лет назад
but it's not. Michael wasn't answering the question by throwing in a "my family's been selling fish for 300 years" at the beginning then went off on a tangent. it was the interjection that got him back on track and properly answering with the architect's errand boy answer which was great. so many people here have such a reaction to this but yet aren't truly picking up the cues of how well the conversation is actually flowing because of the hosts. good hosts know when to reign their guests in and control how the conversation is flowing. a truly bad host or an inexperienced host would just let Michael ramble on and ignore that there are other people at the table, like the Democrat debate where there was an obvious agenda to keep the focus on just the big players like Kamala Harris, Kamala Harris, and Kamala Harris, and occasionally let the old guys add a quip or two. that was a travesty of a debate. this is a good interview.
@ddandymann

@BenjiSun
@BenjiSun 4 года назад
@@ddandymann sure, it's a round-table, but does that mean it's not an interview? and that it doesn't have a host, a time limit, and a number of questions to get through? does that one word round-table, supersede everything else? if that's the case then there's no host and with seniority gets priority, Caine would be on his tangents non-stop with the occasional interjection from Jackson, and everyone else can just shut up and f off. which of them at the table would stop themselves and say, oh wait, we haven't let Ruffalo or Edgerton speak yet, i sincerely care what they have to say. no, Caine stops, it'll be Jackson or Smith getting their righteous minute in. even in a self-contained roundtable discussion, it'll just be a seniority dominant dialogue. you might be ok with that. i'm not. i'd rather hear a variety of opinions and stories than just Michael Caine reminiscing about nonsense. it's as if a lot of the commenters here don't think Graham Norton's show has a more rigid structure than they presume and actors are capable of being that concise and able to stop without being reeled in, or Letterman or Kimmel suddenly switches to full on sarcasm mode when actors go off script. this host is just more robotic in his handling of the structure. he's not being rude to try and guide the interview (and it is an interview) on course. it's ultimately their format, not your vision of their format.

Bullshit! The story about wanting to be the greatest love story it is just an excuse to hide the real reason: HIS HUGE EGO! Nobody can outshine Will Smith and wherever he is he has to be the star. SUICIDE SQUAD actors were all screwed up because he for sure influenced the WB executives saying that he is the protagonist and the film shouldn't highlight too much the bad guys' behavior for the sake of the FAMILIE VALUES. So WB cut and changed all the film to highlight Will's Scenes and also cleaned all that was not suitable for a family movie. He even told that he should be the one to kill the bad guy, how now he says that wanted a love story and not about revenge. "The other character was the lead! I was like, 'No, Quentin, please, I need to kill the bad guy!'- Will Smith quote.

It’s remarkable how Sam went from an extra in a Michael Caine movie (A shock to the system) to speaking at this table and being one of the best actors today. Sam Jackson will forever be my favorite.

I'm feel sorry for Will when he says that he lives in complete terror, fearing of losing his popularity and also that people might not like his work. A castmate of Wil Smith said that Will dismisses whoever can cast a shadow on him and I think that was exactly what happened in Suicide Squad. I believe it because people who live in constant fear of losing popularity, can do some bad things in order to maintain what they perceive that is their self-worth. Ler mais

"If my movies are number one, my life will work out great." Will Smith I feel sorry for him too! He is so dependent if he is number one. In the end, it doesn't matter how many money you have if you feel so dependent on being the number on all the time. He is a poor person inside.

Same, I feel sorry for him too. I feel like he has been given a false sense of superiority by the white establishment throughout his life and at the end of the day he is only famous for being the 'Fresh Prince'. A show which was hugely popular admittedly but still about acting silly and foolish so now that image is impossible to shake. Look at Alfonso Ribeiro he cannot shake the Carlton dance and everywhere he goes his character and his dance follow him about. And I'm sure he is annoyed by even if he doesn't show it. It's true, first impressions count people always remember you based on your first impressions. Once people form a first impression about you its impossible to change their mind. This is why I feel Will Smith won't be taken seriously as a great actor and why someone else in the comment section said he will always be mediocre.

Wow. Not a huge Will Smith fan but all of you sound extremely jaded and jealous, which in itself is quite sad. He has achieved a multitude of remarkable accomplishments in such a dog eat dog industry as a minority and you have to respect him for that. Attacking his character when you hardly even know him personally speaks more about you than it does about him.

Interviewer 1: "In Quentin's movies, the "N-word" is everywhere. Does that bother you?" Sam:..........No, it's a movie. Interviewer 2: "What about the amount of violence? Has it bothered you?" Sam:.....No, it's a movie. Clearly these two "fine" interviewers have an ulterior motive.

Lalvon Zelpharr They love hearing him say Quentin isn’t racist for using that word a lot. Of course he isn’t racist, but it reminds us white folk that it’s okay to enjoy a movie where white characters are saying it a lot lol

I know Sam would like to suggest anything is ok if it helps to make a movie but that is definitely a antisocial approach to making movies. Was it ok to make movies that depicts violence against women, children and minorities? Come on Sam, you have to be more socially responsible. I agree with Will Smith.

@@thejanusproject32 As a brit I find this reaction very interesting. If he were American but acting in the same way, would you criticise his Americanism? I did not find the hosts actions annoying, I felt they moved the conversation forward, and one must bear in mind that the editing of the video might make the interaction between participants more abrupt than it was in real time.
