Will Sparking Zero Surpass Budokai Tenkaichi 3?

With the fact that split screen was a late addition, Im hoping that with updates we can get more maps and the ability to have mirror matches again. I find it incredibly dumb personally that they went this far without considering split screen which was a staple of dragon ball games but hopefully time will tell. If all else fails then always remember: PC modders are both very nuts and very talented

Comparing split screen on this game with Naruto tekken and street fighter is not the same at all. First of all those games don’t even have split screen as they play on one screen and in sparking zero in split screen everything would have to render twice. Its not a comparison at all but if they had more time I’m sure they would be able to do it

I think itl be fine, but so many people are comparing it to BT3 which is kind of rough for the developers. For instance the amount of characters in Zero is nuts to me. In BT3 it had tons of characters because technically its the 2nd dlc for BT1 as they just used BT1 and BT2 to expand the characters over time. The story stuff looks fun and the player creation content is gonna be what makes this game the best.

I utterly refuse to believe a PS5 cannot handle splitscreen for this game lol. Even if it were locked at a lower FPS I’d be more than okay with that

They only have hyperbolic time chamber local co-op because 1, it was a last minute decision and 2, the maps with there constant vfx would have very laggy frame rates because of console limitations

there's a reason split screen was limited to one arena. imagine trying to play it in the city map. so much rendering would be required run the game. from the explosions, stage destruction and more. there's barely any destruction in the time chamber which drastically helps the game run smoother which allows split screen

If there is no Grandpa Gohan or Devilman, I'm crashing out.

Sorry but the nostalgia of bt3 and those early childhood memories will never be replaced and I have SZ pre ordered but bt3 will always stand on its own. I thank them for the continuation still

So a few things! 1. Many have noted that if the game were to have Offline VS (Normally) it would need to render the map twice and with the detail of the arena, could cause lag and frame rate issues. Which I can understand (Which I completely neglected unintentionally). But I also still stand with Offline VS being a a prominent part to a fighting game for the convenience. Yes, online is more the norm, but that doesn't mean removing what came before it. That's just me. It worked before, why fix what ain't broken. Again, we can agree or disagree, it's a game. 2. Offline VS being made last minute, I was aware. I only said the phrase "Was local co-op done at the last minute?" specifically to add on to the fact it was VERY last minute, but I guess I should've had some visual ref. That's my bad. 3. Offline VS. I misused Offline Co-Op with Offline VS. I generalised them into one category. I goofed. 4. The Title. It didn't come from a bad place, it was JUST a question. As I said, the pros of the game outweigh the cons. I'm STILL GOING TO GET the game. It looks sick! P.S With the NEWER updates showing up...well fair game Sparking Zero, fair game.

I just want them to have the beams have more size and impact because they’re TOO THIN Another point is the rush attacks barely have cuts in the cutscenes. It’s mostly done in one continuous scene which ruins the impact

The split screen was done in the last minute that's why the only map is the time chamber but "hopefully" thay will add more maps

I luv the "What ifs" stories in the DB Franchise and community. They need to make those beams bigger though, I don't like the skinny DB super look.

Local co op wasnt actually meant to be in the game. The developers added it at the last minute because of the outcry from fans. And the reason theyre limiting it to one stage is due to performance issues of rendering both players screens and environmental destruction. Pretty sure on pc they will have mods to unlock all of the stages

I REALLY hoped they could have had some 2v2 like Budokai Tenkaichi Tag Team, but it looks like that would need to be an update or something :(

I am fully expecting one of the first mods on PC that aren't simple color/janky model swaps will be local multiplayer featuring more maps. I'm not sure if theyll be able to bring over stage destruction and such, but at the very least alternate arenas will be there.

Hell NO! Unless you are blind as Chug and Doesn't have any idea on what a game requires to be impacting. Then again not everyone had experienced first Quality Games of the 2000s

Yeah I'm pretty sure sparking zero is going to surpass bt3 my main reason is because in bt3 all of their starting attack pattern are the same don't get me wrong bt3 is a really great game but sparkling zero is going to be a really great one honestly

Literally take one look at it, ofcourse its gonna be better. The old games where fun, but pretty jank and outdated by today's standards. People just like the rister size. Everything from the graphics to the mechanics to the story will be miles better

Its not co-op. Co-op is if you play together against the game. This is just local multiplayer.

I hope the villains get there own campaigns they were supposed to in Budokai 3 but it couldn’t make it into the game they even had Cell jr defeating Cell & Gohan and a Saibamam becoming a super hero but in the end we just got Broly and no future Trunks

Bottom line. Yes, yes it'll be better than Tenkaichi 3. From what we have seen I wanna play Sparking Zero now then Tankaichi 3. It's living up to the hype so far with what was announced and that hype has not gone down one bit.

That's a good question. I think, that apart from the health consumption, it will be. Sparking Zero's health consumption is too high. But I think it will be though, at least a little bit. This is going to be one of the best games ever made!

I'm fine with a game like this updating over time. Add the full suite of local coop as well as all the DB and GT characters.

yes, easily. its the same game with great graphics, the same gameplay, gt, literally everything looks completely beautiful and it plays good along with what-if's more multiplayer... its just bt3 but better

You couldn’t have done any research as to why split-screen is the way it is? They could’ve not included it at all, which is originally what they were going to do, but they added it because we asked for it. It’s a challenge to implement because of the ridiculously in-depth stage destruction and particle effects, and they could maybe even add more stages later on throughout the games lifecycle.

I thought this game would be a nerfed version, the game is beautiful but I'm mentioning the fighting mechanics. It was the main reason they stopped making the game because of how complicated designing the fighting mechanics were. I hope they copied and paste and added more to the game. That's all it needs. But story mode will be the best out of all dbz games I can see that forsure. Split screen local should have never been removed period.

If they have low FPS problems in local co-op on other maps, then they could just put AMD FSR tecnhologoy. I know the visuals will get worse but atleast we could have local co-op on all maps. And ofcourse I'm talking only about adding AMD FSR upscaller to local co-op mode, in other modes no FSR upscale.

I can’t wait for this and all demos I seen look so amazing. I get being upset over local play but they did say they made it as single player experience and added local last minute and because all the destruction it had to be just the one map. Does it suck yes but at least they’re listening and I think they will add more local maps. I could be wrong but hoping.

The producer said that they try to get local coop to be capable of using all maps but for now the ps5 can’t handle that and yes they put it in last minute

The only way Sparking Zero has a chance at surpassing BT3 is through mods which we will have to wait for.

I know it will never happen, but id love to see a character creator in Sparking Zero or a game like it. Xenoverse 2 is fine, but the options are limited and i prefer the gameplay of the Tenkaichi. Again, i know it wont happen, but it would be awesome lol

Of all arenas to lock to, of course its the time chamber. Smh, can't even destroy the battlefield. Yeah, you can break the building, but that won't get any milage less your playing as Gotenks, Piccolo or Super Buu

Very simple answer: No. the reason why is because when we got Tenkaichi 3 we got the FULL EXPERIENCE. I will 100% guarantee you that there will be DLC full of a bunch of characters that we should’ve had at launch. That’s what this game is about, giving us everything and letting us go crazy with it

Okay speaking on the local co-op. Yes it was done at the last minute. Online being the modern way of playing the game negates the NEED to spend time and resources on that aspect of the game. Share play exists too. But just because you grew up with it doesn’t mean it’s a Corner Stone. Just like it’s not getting a last gen port because it would make the game WORSE. It’s not that deep

This is the problem I have… as a game that sets itself up to be Budokai Tenkaichi 4, it feels a lot more like just Budokai Tenkaichi 3: Dragon Ball Super edition. Don’t get me wrong. I love Super, but leaving us in the dust with all these other diverse characters missing is just sad. BT3 has OG DB, movies, GT and Z. And while Sparking tries making up for it with all of Super, which don’t get me wrong is like 100+ episodes of content which is way more than GT, especially in terms of arcs, it still just misses out on being diverse. They missed the point. Honestly, that’s my biggest issue with the game so far. In every other aspect, they understood the task, and did it well. But they didn’t understand the SERIES variety. There is a variety of characters, don’t get it twisted. But it’s just not all there.

Sparking zero will easily surpass BT3 in every front.
