i just wanted to say, as someone who works at valleyfair, excalliburr is NOT planned to be removed anytime soon. the park just spent 2-4 mil on it for a whole new pannel. excallibur was also built to wistand flooding. its not going anywhere. i have talked to raul (park manager) and he also confirmed that excallibur is not planned for removal and not even on the radar.
Video idea: A baseball theme, “3 Strikes, You’re Out”. A countdown of parks with the 3 worst coasters. Plus a follow-up , “Grandslam” a countdown of parks with 4 top coasters. Like 3 hits and a home run of a coaster. Maybe around World Series time it can be made. 👍🏻
I like this idea, some parks could have both also. Canadas Wonderland has three strikes (Minebuster, Time Warp, Flight Deck) and a Grand Slam (Bohemoth, Vortex, Yukon Striker, Leviathan)
Buy or sell: the six flags / cedar point merge will have “regional” passes (ex: “northeast pass” that grants you seasonal access to Great adventure, dorney park & New England but not magic mountain bc it’s in the west)
I was at kings island over the weekend and saw someone in handcuffs in camp snoopy. Rumor has it he sat his kid over the fence to get his phone from under woodstocks air rail. This was just the story I got from people who were at the scene and it has not been on any of our local news outlets so far. From what I heard, No one was injured thankfully. If true I’d say a change will be on the horizon at least at KI.
What are they supoosed to do though? Make the fences 10' tall? Put barbed wire on top of them??? Idiots will be idiots, and screw them. Darwin awards for all of them who jump a fence woth a sign saying Danger on it, while around machines that have zero control while they are out on track. No. I say make people take an IQ test to get in. If your IQ is higher than room temperature, you can come in. If its around your shoe size, sorry about your luck, dummy.
I worked Disney Attractions for 9 years. When I first started the Cast Members told me the dumb things Guests would do. I thought that nobody was that stupid. I was proven wrong!
I've been saying/hoping for this for a few years now. That is the one coaster that KI needs to get people to come. They need to do it soon though, before another park in the US gets one. The novelty alone is going to bring people. Anything else is just meh. Like, another B&M in the park???? Really???? No. Go with the extreme spinner to get more tickets sold.
Buy or sell: Grizzly at Kings Dominion gets its final third re-tracked this winter saying this because I got my first ride on it last weekend, and the last third was ungodly rough after the first half was butter smooth
Lol ya rode earlier this year and it's so obvious where the tracking stopped. I would hope they finish the job, cuz why even bother starting the project just to tease your back into thinking it's safe?
I’d be mixed. Cedar Point, for example should keep the major coasters the same with theming, and keep Camp Snoopy at one end and a DC themed kids one instead of Kiddy Kingdom and Planet Snoopy at the other end
That's too many parks to revamp in too short of a time. I can see dc being added to more parks eventually but considering they haven't even bothered adding DC to Darien Lake since they reacquired it I doubt it's making its way to very many cedar fair parks
I don't think Michigans Adventure is going anywhere. I've heard around a few times that it's profit margins are a lot higher than other parks in the chain. Only way it'd go is if the land is super valuable or something like that.
No views in 45 seconds! Channel is falling off. JK, just wanted to follow a trend. Buy or Sell: Michigans Adventure will get the Six Flags rebrand but Great Escape and LaRonde will get a Cedar Fair rebrand.
Buy or Sell: Kings Island will eventually give Boo Blasters the Iron Reef treatment and get sally dark rides to revive the phantom theater, while keeping the interactive system.
Buy or sell: Great Escape getting bobsled this year (2024) was to bolster the parks lineup, in order make it more appealing to potential buyers after the merger (if they choose to sell it)
Sell. None of the parks that received recent investment are going anywhere. The park has also seen recent investment besides Bobcat, mostly in refurbishment of older rides, and improvements to park appearance. The property also includes the hotel and indoor waterpark, which are open year round. The fact that it provides a stream of revenue year-round is alone enough reason for it to be worth keeping.
Buy or sell: An amusement park around Nashville opens up in the next 7-12 years. (I need this as the closest amusement park to me is over 2 hours away!)
Unfortunately we are in no man's land. We're too close to Holiday World, Kentucky Kingdom, Six Flags Over Georgia, Dollywood and even Kings Island and Six Flags St Louis for anyone to build near us.
Definitely sell in my opinion. Those parks need absolute capacity machines from reliable and established manufacturers and RMC isn’t really either of those. If you watch El Toro Ryan’s video on SteVe, he talks about how its capacity isn’t what it should’ve been and that alone would put them off
Buy. They should have worked with Intamin again, Intamin knew the ride inside and out already. Cedar Fair's bad blood with other companies is beginning to compromise their own bottom line
Give intamin one more chance at least! To much money invested at this point. They learned their lesson and intamin is laughing with their falcons flight money!
@@duncanidaho84 that doesn’t apply here. Intamin has direct experience with the ride and knows it inside and out. It was the best choice for the job, regardless of sunk cost and Cedar Fair’s bad blood with Intamin itself
I love the idea, but I’m selling that. I have never seen a B&M hyper with inversions (although Alpengeist comes VERY close), and I don’t think Dollywood could market something like that with Wild Eagle in the same park.
After asking a worker at Kentucky kingdom they said that Kentucky kingdom will get something new for 2025! They said they don’t know what though sadly, but let’s hope it’s a launched coaster!
Buy or Sell: the new Space Mountain at Tokyo Disneyland is so well received that it gets replicated to replace one of the Space Mountains at the other Disney parks
I think it mostly depends on whether Disney can afford to do anything substantial anywhere going forward. They've got a lot of plans in the works already and their financial situation isn't great right now. Remember, Tokyo exists in a totally separate bubble when it comes to funding: the resort is not owned by Disney but by OLC, who contracts out to Disney for Imagineering and IP, and tends to be more generous with capital than Disney is. And some of their attractions may even be designed under an exclusivity agreement.
B&M Hypers are super easy to make room for if a park wants one. They only need to take up a super narrow sliver of land in the parks. It doesn't make much sense for them to remove one of their biggest coasters for one they'd have room for elsewhere in the park.
B&M might be a bit out of Six Flags St Louis' price range. Vekoma or Chance might be more fitting. That being said, no. They still have enough room along the edge of the park for a hyper with a slim layout. It won't be necessary to tear down The Boss for that.
I have no issues with lockers if they're like the lockers on Velocicoaster. I can deal with not having my stuff with me in line. My bigger annoyances are when lockers cost money and aren't near the ride.
Buy. This is my top pick for their next major addition after Good Gravy. It would be such a good fit for that park, and it would give the 4th of July section a great signature ride
Buy or Sell: Six Flags America closes within ten years of the SF/CF merger. Separately, I’m super happy to hear your take on King’s Dominion since it’s one of my home parks!
RE Great Escape : I rode Steamin’ Demon yesterday. It start to show it's age. It short and it's rough. Replace it with a Raptor clone and this park would be perfect. It's the perfect model for this park **chef kiss**
Voltron is Mack's most complete coaster, but ride to happiness is just such a fun ride experience it can't be topped personally. But they're quite literally my 1 and 2 over the 150+ coasters I've done in the US, including almost every elite coaster east of the mississippi.
i had just left kings island and i wake up the next day at my house, hearing the guy got hit by banshee, we were talking about raptors incident on the drive back home
Valleyfair park gm Raul has told me that he does not have any plans to remove Excalibur until there is a worthy replacement in that plot of land. Which with it being in a floodplain, wouldn’t make sense to build a new coaster there. He also said that Steel Venom will be around as long as they can get/make parts for it. He said the holding brake will stay as long as Steel Venom is around as well. He did point out that the old Dinosaurs Alive plot is perfect for a new coaster, and they have more land besides that! Cedar Fair had big plans for Valleyfair, and I don’t see that being changed! Excalibur, Steel Venom, and High Roller all have gotten new systems within the last few years. Valleyfair has more money and potential than everyone thinks!
I'm personally going to buy adding more metal detectors because I see parks in general going for the easy "fix", but I _want_ to sell it, because a better option would be to put in climb-proof fencing of some sort to keep people out of the ride areas. If people are able to climb those fences then that tells me the fences are insufficient.
I went to Kings Island today, didn’t seem like there wasn’t too many changes, other than maybe them deciding not to use the train that hit the guy because most rides were running 3 trains but not banshee so that was weird
They probably are still investigating the accident and the train is evidence, then a thorough going over before it gets on the track, at least a month, maybe end of season.
Best thing to do if you lose something. Go to guest services and they will retrieve it if possible when the park closes. I’ve lost my wallet and have had family lose other items and got a call almost every time saying they found it and just had it mailed to me if I wasn’t in the area.
They did some extensive trackwork on Boss’s low to the ground turn before the climb into the midcourse brake run last year, and they seemed to replace most, if not all the layers on that section of track, so I can vouch that they are re-tracking it
Have you ridden it this year? I haven't ridden it in 3 years, and I swore off it forever then, but if it's riding better, I'll give it another shot in a couple weeks.
Buy or sell: cedar fair relocates rail blazer to kings island, flight deck to kings dominion, and patriot is going to valley fair. Dorney just got iron menace so they’re not getting railblazer
Buy or sell: with all the upcoming smaller cedar fair/six flags park closures (according to the comments here), the rides get relocated to an as-of-yet unbuilt reimagining of Opryland on the outskirts of Nashville. (Ok, it's a ez sell, but just my dream to have a home park closer than 4 hours 😂).
Vekoma's aren't as cheap as you think with their new stuff, it's not the old Vekoma, The KI total project cost was 10M for a small family/kids coaster. That's probably why US parks haven't been buying much of the new Vekoma stuff, it's not that significantly less than other manufactures. So without a big cost savings like in the past with inexpensive Boomerangs and SLCs, Vekoma aren't the slam dunk to get an inexpensive coaster.
Buy or sell: with the new cedar fair and six flags merge, they shut down/back out their contracts with the smaller parks like Frontier City and Darien Lake
The Banshee will probably suffer from the same "loose articles" problem that its neighboring park Cedar Point's Steel Vengeance is gonna face, with people being forced to pay a large sum for a locker to store said loose articles. They're a company first and foremost; I'm sure they'll come up with a sneakier way to successfully pull this off again like last time.
adding onto the restricted area issue, ive seen several people run into the restricted areas at my park. ive had to hit the e-stop before on dragon slayer because people lose their airpods and run into the back area, people jump the fence at monster all the time. its sadly not uncommon.
