Will The First Descendant Succeed? 

I prefer to refer to it as destiny killer, warframe doesn’t deserve to die, it’s a great game

Nexxon also made Maple Story 2. They promised longevity and years of support, took everyone's money with the cash shop......... then decided in less than a year that it wasn't making enough money, shut the game down, and kept everyone's money.

Let start off with beating destiny first. Destiny was suppose to be a warframe killer. And despite it massive success and grossing near a billion dollars, it still couldnt put a dent in warframe.

Depends on what kind of live service game it becomes over time. Warframe is a long term live service game

Been playing online games since… the beginning and MuD. Played almost every looter shooter at one point right from the start at PSO. Yeah kids, that’s your real ground zero. The gameplay here is properly good. Lots of issues over all but its core gameplay is solid. Really impressive, actually. If it grows….

From my personal experience First descendant is trash. I have about 10 hours on the game and already feel bored of it. I have a couple reasons feel free to disagree with any of them. 1) Terrible story. It’s literally just humanity defending against invaders. Main character got wooped 30 seconds in now go level to beat the boss. 2) Characters feel kinda weak. What’s the point of using my abilities when it actually hurts my dps? The weapons are infinitely better so characters with offensive based kits are kinda redundant. 3) There is simply no real pull to the missions. It’s simply go here kill this. Defend this. Pick up this and put it here. Repeat those 3. It feels like every single mission is just a repeat of the last and it’s boring. 4) The shop… Just look at the prices and what you have the options to pay for. It speaks for itself. 5) This isn’t warframe why tf am I waiting 16 hours for a new character that already took a long time to get the resources for? If you’re going to make me farm something painfully slow I expect to be able to use it on the same day. Warframe crafting is slow but resource gathering is fast and typically you have everything you need simply through casual play. I just don’t think first descendant will be a good game without major update to literally everything. The only good things are the gunplay and movement.

Grind is the meaning of looter shooter, trust me

This will not be a warframe killer, but it will be a warframe competitor, and as for destiny, it depends on what the devs decide to do since they just released kind of the end of the story in a way . I like to serve as a info dump for people who don’t have the full picture to help better make their opinions so i’ll say some points. P2W is subjective, but most people classify it as things behind a paywall.Nexon does have a very bad reputation undeniably, especially losing a case recently since they lied about loot box rates in one of their games. They are known for p2w, however in TFD(The first descendant), The devs have been avoiding making it p2w, and have claimed such, along with constantly taking in feedback from players, and making countless changes in matters of days of it being addressed countless times within just the last 2 weeks alone, along with the betas. The only thing that is a behind a paywall is cosmetic skins, and a ultimate version of a weapon that will be in the battlepass( it’s good but non battle pass weapons are just as good, sometimes better)they even said they would make some colors available to unlock without paying. Many asked for a founders pack, but they denied it, they are putting the ultimate descendants on sale at first( 1400 in game currency compared to 5000 with no discount, so roughly $28 and $100),which compared to warframe is worse. The game has a heavy focus on endgame as there are interceptions( challenging boss fights where you queue up with a team), along with dungeons,14 of them on release. P2W arguments as of the current state of the game rely heavily on your opinion of warframe. If you think warframe isn’t p2w, then neither is TFD, vice versa. Destiny The Final Shape you beat the boss that we had so much anticipation for, which lots of players will most likely give TFD a try during this content decline as weeks after a DLC release, player count tends to go back on the decline. Warframe had a rocky beginning which i feel lots of people forget, but TFD seems to have lots of content to start off with. 14 endgame dungeon on release, 19 descendants on release, a battlepass, over 500 mods in game on release, and a very involved developer team. Warframe movement is uncontested as one of the smoothers movements across multiple genres if you ask me, and i would say destiny has better movement also with the ability for each class to choose different movement options, TFD movement is good, but nothing outstanding, unless you play a character with movement abilities like valby. Build possibilities are very high right from the release, as the game is releasing with 500+mods, 21 Ultimate weapons, and weapons have rolls on them similar to destiny, which you can also reroll them to create godrolls( unlike warframe you can lock certain stats of the roll). The game does have lore, but once again most likely won’t be as enticing as warframe or Destiny as those games are very more heavy, which force the players to engage in it, along with also putting lots of money into that aspect. My conclusion would be give The First Descendant a try if you enjoy destiny or warframe, Games nowadays are very similar to one another, and choosing comes down simply to what you prioritize when playing a game, like Black Desert has one of the best combat systems in the game, but one of the hardest gear progressions in MMO’s, so maybe you might want to switch to something that isn’t as good PVP, but has a easier gear system. This game could potentially flop, Nexon has a bad track record, but based on looking at TFD as an individual, there is no reason to avoid giving the game a try at the minimum

To me it depends if the dev fixed some issues to a point I might consider it possibly killing Warframe. The biggest problem I have with TFD is that grinding for catalyst, activators, and some characters are annoying. Also the capacity on descendent and weapons need to be increase or the amount of space wasted from modules need to be decrease because having multiple builds for a character is hard to accomplish with limited space. Lastly we need to have some way of additional descendent slots for f2p. Besides those 3 main issues I enjoy the grind more especially with reactors and components, a lot easier and more rewarding than Warframe riven and mod set bonus system

Nooo I missed the stream (also I see warframe f*cked up your muscle memory as well, trying to bullet jump with drifter, I do it in every game)

Destiny is alerady on its back leg. Its self-proclaimed "final expansion" is out! We have 1 year worth of battlepass level content left in the game and nothing captivating to look forward to beyond. If bunj fails to capitalize their own IP reaching the end of its lifecycle, they will almost be putting nexon in a better chance to succeed in the short term. Playerbase numbers will likely show the players to be a lot more lenient to bugs and an imperfect experience. Giving them time to iron out the details and making a platform to compete with. Rest assured though, if a Destiny 3 were to be announced? Nothing nexon could do would keep peoples nostalgia from dragging them back. FD would likely take a back seat to anything Bunj may announce that would be any form of looter shooter.

warframe killer yes sure i mean it could kill it for me till i get warframe 1999 then i gonna play first descendant :v of curse im gonna watch tennocon 1999 and after that we will get infested liches so im gonna jump on .

I played the beta test and final test servers for The First Descentdant and its a good game, the modding is easy to understand since it kind of follows warframes modding system. I played warframe long time ago since 2015-2020 and i hope first descendant becomes a success and a smoother game as time progresses like warframe.

No game should be called a killer to be honest, Ive played Alphas and Beta's of FD and its its own game calling it a killer is an insult to the older games and the newer games. its not called Warframe nor Destiny nor is it made by the same studio's. That said Nexon is rather greedy with monetization so you can expect that without having player trading. None the less i can wait to play in 25 hours

I guess first descendant will find its niche but being Nexon I can see this failing soo far, like PSO2NGS type of bad, if they get and maintain the good will of the community and dont go over greed(doubt it as I have lot of experience with nexon) it could be a great game but I don't see it killing any.

Why no gameplay of the actual game instead of warframe

warframe has character, style, substance. Dastiny has .... some style i guess? Descendants has none, looks like an Ai generated Warframe abortion.

Frankly don't see the game lasting anywhere near as long as warframe. Literally because Nexon is such a scumbag of a company, they were fined for manipulating drop rates to make certain items .00001% on top of already being pay2win. I was in both betas and its a descent game but Nexon will bury it into the ground the only question is when.

Nothing going to kill Warframe any time soon. FD does seem cool, I'll be playing it on launch, but the lack of trading is what will always keep Warframe ahead of it. In WF, you don't really need to ever buy plat, you just farm what people need and trade for it. First Descendant not having a way to trade caliber just means it's going the Destiny route, which isn't really a bad thing. I'm just ready for something new, played way too much WF and Destiny already, as long as this game is good, it doesn't even need to be AS good, I'll enjoy it.

why is everyone saying it's gonna be anything warframe ? the only element that's like warframe is the craft system , that's all , everything else is closer to destiny so it was gonna kill a game , it's destiny , the gameplay doesn't feel even close to warframe's gameplay

No battle pass is the worst thing ever. I just cant complete ANY and when I do I regret it deeply being forced to farm a game when I don't want to. Its a job, a contract where yo feel trapped because you paid for rewards you will loose if you don't loose your soul playing the same game everyday without fail.

Just me that thinks that their unreal 5 engine looks kinda meeeh.. the graphic isn't very impressive for using a new engine. The gameplay is pretty blend... Nothing special there either. I will play it but I don't think I will keep for to long... Probably just going for achievement points then get on a new game after.

Hmm not really a killer, not close to be a killer at all. I did play the beta and it was really fun and interesting, but it is a completely different aspect and story from Warframe. let's hope that FD doesn't start including pay to win stuff and ignore the community. Warframe does a pretty good job at listening at the community. while their's a lot of cosmetics and weapons and Warframes to obtain, Everything is pretty much obtainable for free if you work the way there and grind. I have play Warframe for years and I can say that the games have evolved a lot and keep getting expanded, especially on the big next update where we gonna go back on time!!! First Descendant is gonna be interesting too, I did see that they doing the same mechanics as Warframe. It gonna be fun to play too.

I think the whole “killer” of X game thing needs to die. People can play different games and more options lead to more competition. The “this game is the the X game killer” mentality is why games are trash these days with 0 creativity

Yeah, a new 2024 game will kill an 11 year old popular game. Many titles were named as the Warframe killer but none succeeded. The game looks fun but tbo, but Warframe will always be my number one.

WoW was absolutely not original. From story to gameplay it added some cool stuff and I loved it when it released in 2004. And I spent more playing WoW that first year. 50 bucks plus I sub’ed for a year.

If the gameplay is similar to Warframe but the crafting doesn't take 72+ hours to craft something. It will do fine.

After playing it, I can say that it won't succeed. Warframe has had so many years to perfect and see what sticks and what doesn't, time that Nexon will never have, and the fact that they already have the reputation of making cash grabs and shutting down everything if it doesn't give them profits makes it clear that unless TFD makes gazillions every month, it will end up shutting down sooner rather than later.

Silly question, Warframe is for the Queer Mechafurries, Descendant is for grownups. Two different audiences. Nexon is only publishing, not developing TFD for the record.
